How backed up is I-94 at 10:30am

We are parking at Lucky's Market(Stadium, block east of State) and coming from Westland.  We won't be able to leave until around 10am.  Just wondering how far I-94 is backed up at that time.  I was hoping to take westbound Mich Ave to I-94 and get on US-23 North to Stadium exit and taking that all the way to Lucky's.

Is 94 backed up past 23 at that time?  Would I be better off just taking Michigan Ave through Ypsi and taking Packard out of Ypsi up until Stadium?

Also, thought about taking Ford Rd. all the way to M-14 to US-23 South to Washtenaw/Stadium.

I've got some health issues and being in a car for too long can exacerbate them.  I know, I picked a hell of a time to leave for the game. Lol. But, that's kind of out of my hands and I'm just trying to find a route that minimizes my time in the car.

Thanks all!

It's amazing the lengths people will go through to not use the technology that immediately shows the best route.  My dad will study a paper map for hours trying to figure out the best route.

I will say this is one case where I wouldn't trust the app because a backup will start quickly and it may be too late for you to adjust your route.  Definitely don't take the highway.  The backway via Huron parkway described above is the way to go.

My thoughts exactly.  I love Waze for road trips.  It's steered me around many a snafu.  But, I don't completely trust it when it comes to backups that you already know are going to be there.  I've been using it to get to Novi for softball lately.  It always wants me to head up I-275 even though there is construction.  One time, it said the construction was only about a 4 min delay on my route.  As I got about a 1/2 mile from it, all of a sudden that route turned red and it had gone up to like 14 minute delay.

I'm sure I'll have it turned on, but I like to have a general route planned out beforehand.

That's because the technology is only as good as the programmers. Pre-Covid my commute per Maps or Waze, ALWAYS had me getting off one exit before where I live, stating there was a less than 5 minute delay. Real world that delay could easily be up to 30 minutes. Going one exit past added a couple minutes backtracking, but that's a lot better than the madness at the exit Maps always wanted me to use.

It's good to use tech as tools, but never trust tools over your own knowledge.

When I lived in Garden City, I would take Cherry Hill until it dead-ended at Plymouth (in Dixboro); then made a left into town. It was dirt road for a stretch, but there was ZERO traffic and no stoplights past Ridge. Makes for a nice Saturday country drive too.

I actually did the Google street view on this route, last night.  I did notice it turned into a dirt road, and the speed limit in one spot was only 25, so I kind of thought this was a little to back road-ish to take.

I live between Cherry Hill and Michigan Ave.

You think at 10:30 there still no traffic on this route?

I used to leave at 10:00 for noon games and would get there in plenty of time. 10:30 may be a little close; only because Plymouth will probably be stacked up once you cross US-23, but you could make a left on Huron Parkway. My usual route from there would be to take Huron Parkway to Geddes to Hill and then start scoping out from there for either sidestreet parking or cheap driveway/grass parking.

I've gotten much stupider since then; so now I spend my time crammed at AAGO and spend many more dollars/hours sitting and waiting for traffic to get in and for traffic to clear after the game. Hooray beer!

Coming from the east side of Detroit, I usually take I-94 west to Ann-Arbor Saline Road.  I-94 slows down at US-23 where it narrows from 3 lanes to 2, then picks up until it slows down again at State Street.  After State, it picks up again until you get very close to the Ann-Arbor Saline exit when it slows down again, but not as bad as it does at State.

I'm still confused to why I-94 is only a two lane Highway from I-196, east to Ann Arbor. They should have expanded that interstate years ago to 3 lanes! Every time I drive it, I'm stuck behind slow trucks in both the right and left lane.

As far as I am aware, they've tossed around the widening of both US-23 and I-94 around Ann Arbor for at least 30 years now, and the interchange redesigns are a big sticking point, but there is also the problem of expansion into the unused portion of MDOT's right-of-way creating some very close quarters between the freeway and numerous office parks and apartment complexes. The swamps just east of Stone School would be a really fun regarding project for any contractor as well. US-23 from I-94 to M-14 would be a multi-year project for the Huron River overpass alone probably. Between NIMBY and cost, no one has dared pull the trigger.
