Orlando sure loves Michigan players.
Ann Arbor south!
Sadly, only 7 total seasons at Michigan between the 4 of them.
Future NBA players usually don't stay long in college. For 13 consecutive years, a freshman has been picked #1 overall.
Yes, but Moe and Iggy are barely NBA players and Caleb is likely on a similar path. FAR from the #1 pick or stars or even rotation players.
That's actually a pretty good number.
Add Jon Teske and you've got 11 years for 5 players.
like sesame street, one of those don't belong with the others...as far as production at UM.
What if Caleb becomes a stud? He's stil young and the NBA seems to value his skillset.
He's definitely still deserves the opportunity to prove himself in the league. Who knows, he very well could turn into a stud. The potential is there, and maybe all he needs is an environment where he can focus solely on basketball.
What is his skill-set exactly?
He’s kind of tall for his position and can shoot a set jumper at home.
Congrats to him. He's joining a nice young group of players. And this is good for Michigan.
Lol, second round. Terrible decision. Best of luck regardless, and at least he's with Franz.

Yes, how truly terrible of a decision for him… /s
You can’t argue with that. He should be set for life and can now focus on the improvements he needs to make to reach his dream. Smart move.
Most of my terrible decisions have cost me thousands of dollars. I wish that any of my terrible decisions made me a multi-millionaire overnight. It also puts him one year closer to his second contract, where the real big money is.
That should end all the talk of him making a mistake.
Check previous comment.
How long have you been around these parts???
He was going to land on a roster, whether it was a second round pick or FA signing. Hopefully, he lights up the summer league and stays out of the G-League.
He went in the second round after coming into the year a top-10 recruit. I wish him luck but if the bar for measuring whether or not it was a good idea to leave after a mediocre first year is "a bad NBA team might take a flyer on you in the second round" then we're talking about incredibly low expectations.
So Iggy made a bad decision too? And GR3?
I get that Houstan struggled at times and certainly didn't play like an NBA player much. But the dude just got drafted in the first 35 picks, should get a good contract, and should take home about $3M even if he washes out after his first contract. Maybe he comes back and plays his way into the mid first round, but the difference isn't significant.
I know it is fun to pile on Houstan here at MGoBlog but clearly he made the right call here.
Not sure about "clearly," but sure, whatever.
I'll agree to "wish him the best," but he came, performed well under expectations (which of course he's not responsible for, but nonetheless), and left after a year. I didn't sense enthusiasm, commitment, excitement about being at Michigan even during the one year he was here, or any real desire to improve. Eh. Two years from now I won't even remember he was here.
Two years from now I won't even remember he was here.
That's pretty funny, since he doesn't even know you exist and probably couldn't care less whether you remember him or not.
Here's the question. Does a player play basketball purely for the love of the game and to satisfy the whims and emotions of fans (what you expect)? Or does he play for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Because the WOTS is that Orlando promised him a guaranteed contract which, if managed properly, should set him up for life. So in 5 years, 10 years, 25 years, I'm sure it'll never even cross his mind that someone like you was disappointed that he didn't come back to satisfy your Michigan basketball itch.
Depends on what you consider a 'significant difference'. The 15th pick in this years draft gets 3 million per yr.
Juzang went undrafted this year even though he would’ve got drafted if he went in 2021 after his ridiculous postseason performance. You can’t just assume that coming back will help a player.
He got some bad advice. It would be interesting to see where he would have gotten drafted last year with that huge tournament performance. If you have some limitations in your game, you have to after that.
We are all Magic fans now
I don't know why someone down voted you. I did my best to neutralize the effect.
This seemed to be the worst kept secret in the NBA. Everyone had him going to Orlando. Seems pretty clear that a promise I’ve been made to him and most seem to know about it.
Any idea why Liddell is sliding?
I’m guessing it’s because of a perceived lack of athleticism.
It’s what you do when you get to the top of the slide? And it’s fun? Ohhhhhh. Nevermind
Because he sucks.
Good luck to him. He'll have a shot at some playing time in Orlando, and hopefully he'll gel with Franz. I do feel like he hurt himself coming out this year and might regret it later, but I get the desire to take a shot at the top league.
Diabate going to the Clippers
I was really, really hoping for a second year for Houstan (and Diabate)... i think Houstan would have made a big leap like Franz did.
That said, getting drafted in the first round is really good, considering his first year was not quite what we had hoped for - though it was good, there was a lot of inconsistency away from home.
Good Luck to the kid though - love that he is going to Orlando due to the other Michigan guys on the team...and he has some knowledge of living in Florida as well, so there ought to be some comfort there.
“Getting drafted in the first round is really good”? Yeah, it is. But he was drafted in the second round.
Good for him. Good luck.
