Hoosier predictions anyone?

Submitted by Search4Meaning on

Ok.  Let's see what's on your minds...  Your predictions please.

1.  Who wins the game? What is the final score?

2.  Denard's passing and rushing yards?  (Shouldn't we be calling these Denyards?)

3.  Indiana's total yards?

4.   How many times will Michigan punt?

5.  How many Michigan field goal attempts?  (notice I didn't say "made")

EDIT:  "running and rushing"? Nice!  What I meant was "passing and rushing" - correction made.

I don't like to get too detailed about predictions, like with stats and whatnot.  But I don't see our offense slowing down.  We're going to hang a ton of points on them, and win more comfortably this time.

A lot of predictions here having us win by 3+ touchdowns.  Please be correct.  I fear it will be a closer game, but you can book this:  it will not be the Saturday the announcers fail to mention Denard's shoelaces.

IU has 2-3 long breakaways off of the secondary being out of position.

Michigan forces at least 2 interceptions.

Denard is taken out for some of the second half, but put back in near the end of the game when it starts to get close again.

44-28 Michigan.

I see Denard rocking 200 yards rushing by halftime.

Michigan might punt once.

Indiana gets around 420 yards, mostly through the air.

I think it might be a cold day in hell before Michigan kicks another field goal unless they are faced with a end of half/game situation from beyond 20 yards.

1: Michigan 38, Indiana 24.  Denard throws a 50+ yard touchdown pass.  Cam Gordon makes me facepalm (O/U on 3.5 times?)

2:  Denard runs for two scores, accumulating 200 rushing yards and just over 250 passing yards.

3:  IU's offense gets just over 300 yards.

4:  Hagerup punts twice.  One is shanked leading to an IU TD.  One is boomed so hard it goes through the uprights.

5:  We make a 35 yard field goal.  Team goes crazy.

Other things:

Taylor Lewan finds another donkey.

Denard breaks about four ankles on the Hoosier defense.  Two on the same play.

Roh sacks the quarterback once by staring angrily at him.

The score will be 21-7 by the end of the first quarter.

For the record I am a Western Kentucky University graduate and IU beat WKU 35-20??? something like that!  WKU has lost 23 straight games!  Akron is worse than BG, and Towsen ranks at the Bottom of the FCS!  Pop Warner teams could go 3-0 against that schedule!

Michigan 45

IU 20

P.S.  IU ranks 82nd in rush defense!  lol

I feel pretty good about this one.  Defense far from terrifying but manages to bend without breaking too often.  Denard is just Denard.  Bonus -- we figure out how to kick a field goal.

1.  Who wins the game? What is the final score?  The good guys, 50-31

2.  Denard's passing and rushing yards?  (Shouldn't we be calling these Denyards?) - 350-400 (200 passing, 150-200 rushing)

3.  Indiana's total yards? - 400 yards (300 passing, 100 rushing)

4.   How many times will Michigan punt? 3 times (one fake)

5.  How many Michigan field goal attempts?  (notice I didn't say "made") - 2/2 - go random FG kicker!

UM should be able to run all over IU, and while Chappell will be dynamite through the air, at some point he will throw some bad passes (15 INTs last year) that UM will pick off/bat away.

IU's poor O-Line play bumps our secondary play up a few notches...assuming our D-Line capitalizes on opportunities.

Mike Martin will be the stud of the defensive game wreaking complete havoc to the entire IU offensive game plan- you can't get going if he's camping out in the backfield all day...

IU doesn't score more than 28...UM scores at least 45...wouldn't be surprised at all if the spread is way more than that...

September 28th, 2010 at 9:37 PM ^

I know two things. 1, Michigan wins. 2, Chappell will throw at least 2 INT's, which will be returned.

By returned, I mean caught, ran back 6-8 yards, then fumbled and returned back to IU.

IU can't stop the run.

Mich will eclipse 400 rushing yards.  Denard will have almost 200.

Lots of big plays through the air due to focus on ground game.  Michigan thus scores 56 points.

Indiana is also scary but becomes quickly 1-dimensional.  Score 14 points in the 1st quarter, have 21 total by the half.   Mich D settles in, giving up 1 FG and picking up a number of 4th down stops.

Indiana is picked off twice as their offense gets desperate trying to catch up to denard and their O-line gets tired of pass blocking all game.

Final Score: 56-31, only because Indiana gets the ball back so much.

Honestly though, all we need to do is stop them for 3 drives in the game and we come away with a W.

Doesn't anybody here remember last year's game? Come on, you can do it! Indiana had a first down and Donovon Warren stole the ball at the end of the play and the umpire erroneously gave Michigan the ball. Indiana would surely have scored on Michigan's crap defense and won the game. THIS YEAR'S PAYBACK! INDIANA WINS BIG! GO HOOZHURS!!!!!

And Michigan won legitimately. No similar trouble this year with Denard at the helm.

In a stunning turn of events, both defenses create headaches all day. Trailing 6-0 on two IU field goals late in the 4th, DRob gets the U-M offense on track for the final drive, and the Good Guys pull out the win. After the game, it is revealed that the Hoosiers had substituted an all-star team from across the nation, both college and pro. Turns out, Indiana was prepared to forfeit the game if they had been caught, but U-M won anyway. Other teams had banded together to see if there was any way - even really crazy ones - to stop dilithium. As it happens, there isn't. And what about holding IU to only two FGs? That was really the U-M defense. During the week of practice, GERG designs a crazy scheme whereby he sends 5 or more players against the IU line in an attempt to get to the ball carrier or QB. He calls this innovative scheme a "blitz", and it gets the immediate approval of both Rich Rod and the fans. Aw, cmon. After all the predictions of 50+ by our team, someone had to change things up.

  1. UM wins 38-31.
  2. Denard throws for 180 yards and runs for 120 yards (RB's run for 130 yards)
  3. IU total yards: 410 (260 passing, 150 rushing)
  4. UM punts 2 times (2 TO's as well)
  5. 1 FG attempt and we MAKE IT!!!!!!

We win 56-49.  We score more points than the basketball team does against them this year.  It will be an exciting game with both teams with over 1400 yards of offense.

Indiana's average opponent ranking in the Sagarin system is in the 160 range. Michigan's avg opponent rank is 78. We put up the same number of points against FAR superior teams and they allowed just under our avg against that low competition. We will beat them soundly. They have one of the worst rushing defenses and we're the number one offense in the country. Recipe for disaster for Hoosier nation. 45-21 Michigan. Denard has 200+ yards on the ground and in the air as well. We punt 3 times once the game is well in hand. No field goal attempts.
