Anyone want to give anyone back from the 2014 class? if you did, it'd A) be unwise; B) be one of the two top rated recruites.

If Caris comes back we only lose 2 players after next year (and if he goes, we only lose 1 - Spike).  So that's your class of 2016 - Teske and Davis barring Irvin or someone from out of the blue going crazy in 2015-2016 and early entry. (which seems impossible considering Walton and Irvin will prob be options #1 and #2 even if Caris goes)

Count me in the boggled category to push for this recruit today when you need a PG like a Winston and have 1 open spot.  Even if there is 1 more attrition you could do this offer in 5 months while you pursue others.  It is strange from a position need more than anything.  No PG in 3 classes in a row?  It means a true fr pg in 2017-2018.  And a true fr backup pg as well.

...someone will somehow leave early before the '16-'17 season, but the prospect of landing, say, Winston and Battle or Langford seems unlikely now. I have to admit to being frustrated that Michigan's ability to land highly-ranked guys post-Final Four has been uneven at best - and I don't mean that as a knock on Davis, who I know nothing about.

pizza now dead eight days on the floor beneath you, peein' in a cup because you're to lazy to pee in the sink, and you're going to slag some guy who's about to don the Maize and Blue with a full scholarship. That's the internet for ya.

Frustrating.  While MSU is picking up 2 Top 25 big men in Davis and Swanigan for '15, we have 2 low ranked big men coming in.

I get "trust in JB", but keep in mind GR3, Nik, Mitch, Tim Hardaway, and Darius were all Top 75 recruits when all was said in done.

1 scholarship left for '16 as of right now.  Hopefully we can pull Langford or Battle.

Donnal, Wagner, Wilson and Chatman are not C's.

I'm not saying we need Davis, but we need another C along with Doyle and Teske.

3 center's and 2 point guards with a 3rd player who can play PG is what Beilein seems to like. The other 7 players don't really matter in terms of position.

I like that we got a big man...do not like that we're not looking at better more developed players.

Need 2 big men + a PG and if a 4th opens up, THEN you add another PG.

I know one AAU game doesn't make a career, but he scored 16pts (8-10) with 10 rebounds against Ike Anigbogu, a Cali kid.  After that AAU tourney in Dallas UCLA offerred Anigbogu, and he only scored 7 points against Davis' Mustangs.

These kids are young and still developing.  These rating services are not the only guys who can evaluate talent.

Something to keep in mind is that Beilein has a great track record of projecting where a prospect will end up when they make it to college.  While Austin Davis may never be confused with Anthony Davis, he can still become a valuable member of the team after some years of development.

Because watching his highlights, I gotta say, I am very confused right now. I wish it was hyperbole to say this kid can barely dunk, but this kid can barely dunk. He does not look like a B1G athlete in my mind. He struggles to get up and down the court. He's the definition of a below the basket player. He's a big body, he has some nice touch around the rim, I saw him hit a shot from 15 ft, but other than that, I'm just really confused here.

I've seen him play in person at least 5 times. You're assessment isn't really wrong. Athleticism may be an issue. Competition is suspect to say the least. But everything I have ever been told is that he's a great worker, smart kid.

Bo Ryan has watched him in person several times as well. Bigs, especially 6'10 bigs, develop late.

And comes from a basketball family. You can see that in his film. From a technique standpoint, he shows pretty good feet and better post moves than I feel most college bigs show. That says something about hard work and what he's put in.

The issue I have with that though (outside of the fact that post moves are a bit of a dying breed in college basketball to some degree) is that a lot of his game appears maximized. He looks fundamentally sound in the post right now. He shows some decent footwork, he gets the ball off the glass quickly. But he has to do those things to score on the guys he's playing against. And if he's already pretty fundamentally sound, that means he's nearer his ceiling than most, and the kid I'm watching on film isn't a very high ceiling right now.

I really don't mean to take away from the kid as far as how hard he works and things of that nature. And I'm happy as hell for the kid to receive this offer and opportunity. I just see a kid that is average in a lot of ways as a high school big, then has good size and good footwork. Nothing looks great though. That, to me, does not translate well to the college level. There isn't something that makes him standout at the college level. What role does he fill? What does he do for you that someone else probably won't be able to do that doesn't have more upside? I wanna trust JB, and again, all the credit to this kid, I'm just not seeing it. But I'm far from a basketball guy and will be the first to admit that.
