Hoops: Enoch Boakye, a 2022 247 five star center and former Sparty commit, has committed to Arizona State.

Looks like he decided to go from a play in game type of team to a non tournament team. I saw where ASU has a couple of players in the transfer portal.

Ah, ASU. It's the MSU of Arizona in many ways, so Enoch's choice is appropriate. (I don't think there's a UMich of Arizona.)

He'll probably get tired of the sunshine and warmth and head back to Izzo's embrace in a couple of years.

Josh Christopher made a bigger mistake than this kid. Michigan could be playing for National Championships over the next few years. At the very least he could have been apart of a B1G Championship and a Sweet 16 appearance.

A bigger mistake? I get that he picked ASU but it's closer to home for him and he got to play a year with his brother. He is still going to be drafted in the 1st round still and it appears that he didn't get anyone pregnant out there so if so, I'm guessing he has had more fun off the court than he would have here so he has it pretty good still.

Based on the mock analysis that I have been reading, he is still projected late first round (somewhere in the middle 20's) but the analysis was daunting; it basically stated that he is an able scorer, but is lazy and takes plays off, and offers nothing to help his team win aside from literally the 18-20 points that he puts up. He doesn't move well without the ball and lacks defensive capabilities, as well as doing little to nothing to help create for teammates.

In some ways, this matters more at the college level than at the pro level. Jordan Poole wasn't the most willing of teammates and was similar in his game to Christopher, though probably a slightly less athletic and slightly less skilled prospect. There is a place for JC in the NBA despite him appearing as though he didn't live up to the hype on that ASU squad.

Before we discovered that Hunter was a prodigy freshman center, JC would have been helpful in small ball lineups with Austin off-the-court (thinking Smith-Brooks-JC-Wagner-Livers or Brooks-JC-Wagner-Livers-Johns).

If he had bought into defensive concepts, he might have also been helpful with some of these Ent teams like LSU and FSU.

On the whole, though, it seems like we adapted in a way that would've rendered JC's skillset somewhat superfluous. Pretty remarkable statement to make about a 5* recruit that we (including Juwan) were clamoring for.

If you're going to spend a year playing school Tempe seems like a nicer place than East Lansing to spend it.  Bob Hurley probably spits less than Izzo too.

ASU might get talent but they sure don't do much with it and yes Christopher did make a mistake not coming to Michigan but who knows how he would have blended in with the team, we know what we got without him, maybe he would have been a selfish guy ,maybe he would have been great.

I would still liked to have had him come to Michigan but alas, he didn't.

I'm saying it now - Hurley and ASU are going to be caught up in some significant NCAA violations in the next couple of years.  Like, if I'm the NCAA I'm already getting the press releases ready.

I have no problem with Ok State being allowed to play.  None of the players or current coaches were incriminated.  I’m not sure what a fair punishment is for these violations but it seems that punishing the current players is idiotic and unfair.

I don’t understand this post season ban punishment crap.  The only ones left to serve these punishments are usually student athletes who had nothing to do with it.  Punish those involved, fine the school, move on.

Saw where Jaemyn Brakefield is transferring from Duke as well. I’m not gonna pretend to know what our needs will be for next year but there is some serious talent going into the transfer portal lately. We did good with Smith and Brown so I would think Howard will kick some tires this off-season.

Not to thread jack, but Rutgers C Myles Johnson and former Michigan target Florida SG Noah Locke have both entered the transfer portal
