Hoke Invited?

Submitted by winterblue75 on
Just wondering if anyone has any insight or thoughts as to whether Brady Hoke may have been invited to the Harbaugh press conference. Lloyd and Mo were there, so just curious.

Uh, Moeller was a part of our football program for about 20 years, as an assistant and head coach.  He was a part of around 10 Big Ten championship teams, including the team Jim played on.

Hoke was a part of our football program for 12 years as an assistant and head coach and was a part of three Big Ten and one national championship team.  Jim's known him for a long time.

Jim probably doesn't know Rich that well, since he was only here three years, a time when Jim was a head coach at a rival program.

Everything in the world does not have to be part of some vast anti-RichRod conspiracy.  Reading your rants in this thread, it almost sounds like you're more a fan of RichRod than Harbaugh.  That's nuts.

I was a major RR supporter to the end, but this is absolutely right. Harbaugh was calling out people he knew and/or were influences on him. He probably knows RR superficially, but that was not an intentional diss IMO. Rather than it being a negative to exclude RR, I thought it was classy to be positive about Coach Hoke. Very few people in that position would talk about how much he was left to build on. Face it, it's in his interest in some ways to talk about what a rebuilding job he faces and throw the previous regime under the bus. He did the opposite.

Even if he was invited, I really doubt he went.

Put yourself in Hoke's shoes. Would you really want to attend the intro press conference of the guy who just took your place after you got fired? Regardless of whether or not he's a family friend? I sure as hell wouldn't want to go.

If I were Hoke, I would've been spending the last week or two in the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Grand Cayman or somewhere like that, taking a well deserved vacation and getting as far away from football for a while as I can.

Rich Rod sucked ass. Mention his 3-8, 5-7, and 7-5 *which was no better than 5-7 year) . Harbaugh spoke of great coaches. Fraud has no fucking ppace in that conversation.

Just a little ridiculous. I consider myself one of the happiest that Harbaugh is home; however Hoke loved this school, program, and all of his student athletes. It strikes me a tiny bit offensive that just because Harbs is home that everyone is dancing on Hoke's proverbial grave like he "ruined" the program.

He may not have had the success that we have come to expect but I would hope that we would show him more respect than this (based on the first 10 or so comments I read from newest to oldest).

Hoke is a great man, and we should commend him simply based on his passion and love for the school. Sure, his departure may be justified in the grand scheme, hell we have Jim Fucking Harbaugh now - but MGoBlog I beg of you, in 2015 - no matter what adversity we face or troubles we see in any athletic avenue - can we please show undying undivided support of the university we love? Maybe just a little less hatred and undue disrespect towards those trying to lead our programs?

Ok I'm done - just felt like I needed to get that off my chest - bye 2014 and HELLO 2015!

No. Hoke was not very good at his job. How is he great? Great that he did his job well? Great that he coherently articulated a vision and translated that into real-world results? Great that he elevated the performances of everyone around him? Or great as in he was a nice guy? Then most, if not all of us are "great" by that definition. I'm ok with that, we can clap for each other and slap each other on the ass for being "great".

Why are you happy Harbaugh is here? By all accounts, he's not always very nice. But he does his job well, he has a vision, and he makes his teams better. He already has a coaching tree, meaning his assistants probably learn something valuable from him. In your heart of hearts you're happy he's here because he *is* a GREAT football coach. Brady Hoke, not so much.

I'm sure Harbaugh would have gotten the double point! Hoke was a great guy who recruited well but his time here showed that he was not able to coach up his kids or coach at a major program. I wish him all the best in his future coaching positions. I think he would be a great coach for a mid or smaller division one program.
