Hockey?

Unless something unannounced happened earlier this week, Michigan no longer has a head hockey coach under contract, as of May 1.

Shouldn't Warde be saying something about that?

What are they telling recruits and their parents?

Where are the players and former playing rallying?

Everything has been amazingly quiet on all fronts.

Also bizarre that things have gotten this far based on one complainant against a coach whose been at Michigan for almost 30 years.  He didn't Schlissel anyone, he certainly didn't slap another coach on national television.  Heck, a couple of bounces go different ways, he would have coached a national champion this year.

Hope Warde or something else in the administration can explain who's leading the hockey program, and we don't keep getting "no new information" press releases.

Not only does it make a loud racket, but it definitely stays down after it falls. I know these things to be undeniably and indisputedly true.

😉

True story follows: had a "difficult" high school teacher who once asked me, in front of the entire class, "how do you know that the light in your refrigerator goes out when you close the door?". He had blah blahed, argued with quite a few classmates before he got to me.

My completely wise-ass response was, "I pushed the same button that the door pushes when you close same, and it makes the light bulb turn off". Dead silence followed, thankfully. The rest of the teaching/learning experience was easier after that.

This year's mega class is still in tact so I am assuming it's been communicated to them that all is fine and Mel will get a contract eventually - perhaps once the investigation officially closes sometime this summer(?). Obviously things have to be sorted out by fall

I think concerns are *probably* exaggerated. Mel is certainly acting Ike Michigan’s continuing hockey coach on social media, and so is the university. He was just at graduation. Nothing looks like a situation where a coaching change is about to happen.

But I don’t see how this can drag into the summer. A few isolated fans don’t need to know everything at once. But at some point some clarity will be needed.

I mean, there should be something visible soon. Presumably hockey coaches continue to go to the office in May. There’s a parking space outside of Yost and everything. It’s not like radio silence can continue until August.

The "probably" is somewhat less certain though than it should be considered based on new(ish) information though right?

Within the past handful of months, there has been additional light brought to the Coach Beilien situation. That while the NBA was intriguing, it wasn't inevitable that he was leaving. But rather, a lack of feeling the "love" from Warde Manuel after 13 years in his position, two championship runners ups, numerous sweet 16s, tournament appearances, after nearly 10 years of non previous, would warrant.

That Jim's interest in the NFL, while again, something intriguing to him and on his list of personal goals, maybe didn't have to happen (or at least happen in the way that it did). That interest was only exacerbated and extended by, again, a lack of feeling the "love" from Warde Manuel, this time after a National Playoff run, Big Ten Championship, Ohio State win, etc.

So, a lot of this is speculation right... but it seems to potentially tell a recurring story.

Now, if we're left with a similar Mel situation... do we just hope to get "lucky" again? Maybe it'll all work out?  Or maybe some of these situations could be avoided by an athletic department that values its coaches and works to preempt "messy" unnecessary situations.

Let’s give the AD’s office a bit of credit.  They definitely have a plan and it has been communicated to those that matter. For the time being, we don’t matter.  When they decide that they are ready, they will release a statement.  Until then, let’s hope that Jordan Poole is healthy and shooting lights out, this afternoon.

I'd guess it's because Michigan is waiting for the results of the independent investigation before any decision is formally made public.

I'd bet that internally they're confident that the investigation will conclude that Pearson did not commit offenses that warrant termination, but since we're talking about a university that in the wake of Anderson will strain mightily to be perceived as doing the right thing, the AD is going to stay quiet until the investigation is done, however long it takes.

Curling?

There are momentous shifts afoot. The air is rife with all kinds of talk.

Why aren't more people concerned about this?

How does this effect Justin Feagin?

Why do people not get that any human travel to Mars is a one-way trip due to the effects on human physiology of lower levels of gravity?

And still no talk on the Justin Feagin front. He didn't Schlissel anyone. If your mom WAS tempted by a knish, that's no one's fault but the maker of the tasty, tasty knish. Maybe the person selling the knish.

Warde damn well better tell us something soon, that's all I know.
