HITNAPY: College Gameday Michigan Thread
How is this not already posted yet. Gameday at Michigan.
Inspiring segment on Austin Hatch just a moment ago. Was neat to see J. Will pretty humbled and honored to meet him and sit with him for a few moments. Beilein was great as always!
Harbaugh has to make an appearance in a bit, right?!
Edited to make a better acronym.

Clicked on the thread to see what HITNMY stood for.
Go Blue. Beat Wisconsin.

...and B-Nut-GoBlue --- it's probably because WD is in the crowd and that's why this thread hadn't been started.
I wonder if he's wearing the shockwave socks?!

Valid point!

I don't know what it means I don't know why everyone always has to use acronyms it confuses us old folks

I'm going with How Is This Not Already Made Yet? But I think it would fit better if it were HITNAPY?

I'm going to say it: I love Harbaugh mania, but when our basketball program has had the kind of success it's had over the last few years, it's a bit sad that 90% of the Michigan material on this broadcast, the signs in the stands, the chants from the crowd, etc. are football-related.
Hell, Rece Davis thought the basketball team were football recruits.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:33 AM ^
Agreed. Michigan basketball has certainly done enough over the past few seasons to merit their own conversation. Nationally, however, Michigan is still viewed as a football school. A football school that has struggled, and recently hired a top-notch coach. That, in addition to MBB struggling this season, means more football discussion.
January 24th, 2015 at 4:58 PM ^
You could easily make the argument that over the last 30 years, Michigan has been far more of a basketball school than a football school:
- National Champions
- 4 total Final Fours
- 6 total Elite Eights
- 3 NIT Championships
- Inagural Big Ten Tourney Champions.
That's a better basketball record than such "basketball schools" as Syracuse, Arizona, or Purdue.

Even though we love Michigan basketball, Michigan football will always be far and away #1.
Add to that Michigan just hit a grand slam hiring the best coach in all of football in a freaking heartwarming dreamworld scenario.
Game set match.

It's unfortunate. At the same time, I'll take any positive pub about Michigan...I'm not in a position to be greedy. It's been too damn long since our major teams were all good at the same time.

Coach Beilein himself gave props to Coach Harbaugh when talking about how much of their jobs involves mentoring the young men that comprise their teams.
Coach B pretty much stated that it was one of the unexpected joys he's gotten by being involved in coaching. We're very fortunate to have such a great man as a basketball coach.
January 24th, 2015 at 12:08 PM ^
remember Mitch talking about coming to Michigan to change the football school perception. The Beilein recruiting critics should remember this when he loses a recruit to a basketball school.
January 24th, 2015 at 12:30 PM ^
It doesn't help that you have two Duke guys on there who are going to do everything they can to not talk about the success of Michigan basketball.
January 24th, 2015 at 12:37 PM ^
Actually, that really has nothing to do with it.
January 24th, 2015 at 1:39 PM ^
sure whatever
January 24th, 2015 at 11:30 AM ^
Chris Balas tweeted Harbaugh will be on the show at 11:45.

Why are people holding up those red State Farm signs. I know they were handed out or whatever, but why give in to the commercialism?
January 24th, 2015 at 11:41 AM ^
To get on TV.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:51 AM ^
Quit bitching about commercialism. You do realize that you might need a job one day. And the company you work for might need to market its products or services.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:58 AM ^
I have a job. In marketing. I still hate this sort of thing. Hell, it's making my job harder by saturating things even more, to the point where advertising is nearly pointless.
January 24th, 2015 at 12:04 PM ^
Improvise and adjust.
January 24th, 2015 at 1:46 PM ^
Gotta find a way to cut thru the clutter!
January 24th, 2015 at 2:59 PM ^
Try handing out signs at College Gameday. That seems to work for State Farm.

Is Jaylen Brown still visiting?
January 24th, 2015 at 11:38 AM ^
He had a basketball game get resecheduled...so he's got to reschedule his visit.

I really did like the segment they did for Austin Hatch as well as the interview afterwards. It really has been great to see him make it here - to this place he wanted to be - after so much adversity.
Also, it took a moment for me to realize just how nuts that stat they threw out there really is, that in all the time Mike Krzyzewski has been at Duke, 53 coaches have come and gone in the ACC. I honestly would have thought it was a little less than that.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^
Austin Hatch is an amazing young man. I could never find the strength to publically talk about a tragedy such as his.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:51 AM ^
Aside from an amazing story I cannot believe how well spoken he is. Again this guy is 18-19. On a public stage. Behind TV cameras. I'd be stammering like mad. He is a natural - this looks like a guy who could go into sales and sell an ice cube to eskimos.
January 24th, 2015 at 1:27 PM ^
to re-learn how to talk like that, and months to re-learn how to talk at all.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^

Man, you are extremely optimistic ... kudos to you. I feel like we'll lose by 25+. Maybe the pace of the game will make it a little closer. Their strength is the frontcourt, our weakness is the frontcourt. Bad matchup. They destroyed us in the paint last year, even with JMo on Frank. Tough matchup.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:43 AM ^
Man, coach Beilein is amazing.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:44 AM ^
I kind of love this 'curtain of distraction" thing.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:45 AM ^
Seriously. Maize Rage needs to get on this.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:45 AM ^
The curtain of distraction might give me a reason to watch ASU basketball.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:47 AM ^
This Crisler version of the curtain of distraction is strange...
January 24th, 2015 at 11:48 AM ^
Did they find some kind of weird magic club on campus and get them to do tricks? I mean... WTF
January 24th, 2015 at 11:53 AM ^
I did find dude's waxed chest (and stomach) with a block M to be pretty entertaining.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:53 AM ^
to come out of the curtain. Instead, Harbaugh.
January 24th, 2015 at 2:45 PM ^
...would be my first choice if the "Curtain of Distraction" idea ever becomes a thing at Crisler.
January 24th, 2015 at 11:48 AM ^
Rece is distracted!
