Hey, we have it a lot better than...

I think we all need to look in the mirror every now and then and ask.....Who do I have it better than? And for me, the answer is almost always everyone

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlBiLNN1NhQ Lets not worry about other down programs. Just win games, one week at a time until we are comparing Meechigan of 2012 to 1997!

To maintain our status as #1 in all time wins I always hope for Texas and Notre Dame to lose. Of course it would help if we never lost.

I should have added that I was being sarcastic.

I'm just hoping to break one of our numerous losing streaks we have Saturday. And break that nasty bowl streak we have going.

More Felix, less Oscar.

I don't understand why we can't just enjoy the reinvention process. These are exciting times, and we're watching the team get better year over year. I don't need to have Tennessee or USC or Notre Dame suck to enjoy watching Michigan grow.
October 24th, 2010 at 1:18 PM ^
BlockM, I agree wholeheartedly. The reinvention process might be painful to watch sometimes, but it is exciting. I think the problem is shifting expectations to a realistic level. Coming into the season I told myself I would be happy with 7-5, and I see feel that way. The problem is that so many Michigan fans aren't happy unless we win every game. I've always been of the mindset that bitching never really helps. Sure a loss hurts, but I try to get over it and move on. I'm going to be a Michigan fan for the rest of my life no matter what, so I might as well try to enjoy it as much as I can.
October 24th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
I'm still hanging on to my shoot for 8 wins (including bowl game) that I have been saying since the beginning of the season. And, I can enjoy that, knowing that in 1994, 1995, and 1996 Michigan had 4 losses on the season. Then 1997 happened.
October 24th, 2010 at 1:52 PM ^
I just wish more fans felt the same way.

I'm a strong RR supporter, but I can understand why some people are frustrated. The past two seasons we've had seven chances to get our sixth win and lost all seven times. It's maddening for everyone - not least of all RR, I'm sure. And while the team will benefit physically from having a week off, for us fans it's frustrating because we really want that sour taste from the last two games out of our mouths and have to wait another week. I believe that we will go to Happy Valley and win, and that will be a big step for the program. But until it happens, we just have to go by faith that this year is different.
October 24th, 2010 at 2:57 PM ^
I think everyone is just hoping for that one big victory against someone with a plus that shows things are really turning around, and we're not just treading water against bad teams. That comes, and the losses in the process won't feel quite as bad, because the nerves won't be do frayed, with the sight of some light at the end of the tunnel.

I can enjoy both Michigan's re-emergence and ND, USC, et al falling into the pit of despair

Sorry, I clicked on my mgoblog bookmark, not expecting this alternate universe where posters are creating "look at the bright side" threads.
I must be getting the flu. Pass the Jack.

How can we have it better than a team that has been returning to glory since 1989?
October 24th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
Have it
Better than ND....probably
Better than USC given the violations....probably
Better than Texas and Florida.... Are you kidding me. They have 1 average to below average year in the past 7 and suddenly we are not suffering as much as them.
We went 3-9, 5-7, and the jury is still out on this year. Texas has a NC in the past 5 years, and another NC appearance, and BCS bowl. Florida has two NCs and a heisman winner in the past 5 years.
Optimism is always nice, but have some perspective dude.
October 24th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
Why don't you go be a fan of those teams then? Perspective usually extends longer than 1 year, also longer than 5 years.
The more you think of this as Michigan versus every other team in college football combined, the more you'll be disappointed because newsflash Michigan wins the national championships sometimes, the rest of college football wins the national championships the rest of the times. Have some perspective on that.

But not the OP? Why can the OP look at one year, but New Carr can't? And it's ok to compare to other programs if it's favorable, but it's not ok if it's not? Some consistency at least if you're going to tell people to be fans of other teams (which is always a lame argument). Because it was the OP who originally made the comparisons. He just pointed out that saying because a team is having one down year in the midst of multiple National Championship runs, it's not worse than 2 losing seasons, and an unwritten story (do we know we're going to finish better than Florida or Texas?). It may not have been the most "up with people" post for this thread, but he said nothing wrong.

Perspective on this blog has become...
If you say something positive about the program, coach, or recruiting a circle jerk of mutual Mich-sturbation will take place where a saturation of syrupey group contentment and trite douchery will follow.
If you say something neutral or "God Forbid" critical about our current state you are labeled an RR hater, program sabateour, or troll.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:16 PM ^
comments; if the 'fact' or position brought up is justifiable criticism, something worth discussing, great; if it's a 'fact' brought up to damn the coaching staff and used as another log on the fire of 'get rid of RichRod', that isn't too welcome. For the most part, the popular view is that the coaching staff deserves a fair shake, that many set backs we have had are due to understandable reasons, and that the future looks bright. You have negativity to share and you don't express it right, odds are it's going to rub someone the wrong way.
Then again I do wonder if some of us come from broken homes...

Florida's situation is similar to ours in previous years, actually. (Minus the recent NCs, of course.)
They have a system that works for a lot of their players and their coach ... just not their QB. Which means it pretty much doesn't work. They would be playing a bit differently if they had DRob or Cam Newton. As it stands, it ain't pretty.

did you see this weeks BCS standings projection on gameday final. its so so messed up
i think it went:
1. Oregon
2. Auburn
3. Boise
4. TCU
5. Michigan State
6. Mizzou
they also projected the 2012 BCS standings
1. Michigan
October 24th, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
But I was reading "Revelations" today (light reading) and I'm pretty sure that the projected BCS standings are a sign of the apocalypse. The End is near!

I am not adding anything knew but just wanted to reiterate and agree with people who posted the ridiculousness of sayinh we have it better than Florida and Texas. 2 titles for florida in the last 5 years and 2 bball titles (we don't have a bball program), 1 title for texas and 10 wins every year except this one and one fun season with durant (again we don't have a bball program)
