Get that ?, son! Go Blue!
I'll take a 5-star at any position, even if it's a Long Snapper.
Yeah but what’s his 40 time?
According to his page on rubiolongsnapping.com, he ran a 4.84 at the most recent training thing he went too. Link below for verification. I know /s, but still peaked curiosity nonetheless haha

I'll give it 4 fakes out of 5.
Piqued.
Probably both
Just looked it up, and you're right. Learning new words and stuff, thank ya sir lol
He's never had to run 40 yards.
There are plenty of high school punts that go 40 yards...
Except for that one time they timed him
Nice! Long snappers are important, as we well know. Good to have one of this caliber - Kornblue does a good job with all the special teams positions.
I don't know who Rubio is, but Marco doesn't seem like the football-y type to me, so it's probably not him...
I believe Marco actually had a football scholarship for a year.
Can he catch passes?
What about crossing routes? Can he cover those?
This one can:
PWO? Not knocking the kid btw, just asking, and I do think a long snapper is worth a scholly.
Until he snaps it over the punters head in the OSU game, and then you'll wonder why we didn't spend one on an elite long snapper.
You’re talking about the center. I do agree the long snapper is important but others have made a good point.... wait until they get to campus then give a scholly if deserved.
Yes, a PWO.
Long snappers are worth a scholarship, but I think you let them get to campus and sort it out. Offering a four-year scholarship to a long snapper is a bad move, IMO. Scholarship players at other positions get beaten out by walk-ons all the time, so why waste a four-year scholarship at a position (long snapper) where that guy literally can't contribute elsewhere. If your linebacker gets beaten out by a walk-on, at least the scholarship guy can play special teams or be a backup. If your LS gets beaten out by a walk-on...there's a scholarship standing on the sideline for a whole season.
Makes sense and why I was asking. Thanks.
I’d prefer to take a walk-on at the position and let him earn a scholarship down the line if one is available. Looking at our kicker/punter situation, our walk-ons have been just as good, if not better, than our scholarship players. You can get high quality players at positions like that to walk-on.
Word up!
I am glad to see all the reports of 2021 recruits having very good visits...but the point is to get commitments!!! Please, let the fireworks begin!!!
This is literally a commitment post. WTF?
Outside the box thinking.
duplicate post ... edit seems to be acting like "save again as separate post" ...
Long snappers are like safeties -- it's good when they're not noticed: it means they're not making critical mistakes.
I wonder how many missed PAT and FG are really on the long snapper? I realize it's the duty of the holder to receive the ball and place it, but I wonder how much a poor snap translates to a poor place? Any holders here who can shed insight on that?
The long snap is just like a pass in that it’s delivered to a spot at a time. The good ones can do that in their sleep. But like a pass they can be off and/or late or early.
Good receivers can overcome an imperfect pass, though there comes a point the pass becomes uncatchable. I'm sure the long snap is similar: a good holder can overcome minor issues, but a really poor snap is going to be a problem.
Consistency may be the key -- a holder can get used to consistent flaws, but erratic snapping may becomes a problem. As you say, a great snapper delivers to the same spot, time after time.
I just heard Jason Hanson on JR a couple days ago and he spent a lot of time emphasizing that the field goal/extrapoint kick is a team activity. He credited his great record to the quality of his kick team.
If I could do it all over again I am focusing on long snapper. Tarr gets to be on a division 1 football team while going to school, when he plays he can't be touched, and once he gets his degree and uses up his eligibility he can go pro where he could have a long career making a killing... and not getting touched.
Until he runs down the field to try and make a tackle on a punt return and gets earholed by freshman Devin Bush like that dude from MSU. He can't get hit on the snap but once that ball is gone he's another defender.
It’s remarkable to me how many people apparently think the long snapper only snaps on field goals and PATs.
I would be curious to know how often they are in on or make the tackle on punts. I am filling my lane and keeping my head on a swivel. I bet I could make a failed attempt at a tackle look real convincing.
He can't get hit on the snap.*
*(unless you're playing against Michigan)
Just don't tell that to Wisconsin fans. They are salty as hell about being called for roughing the long snapper in both 2016 & 2018 against us.
Long snapper. Welcome
Welcome Gregory!!!
Long snapper is the most unheralded position on the team but so important.
Everyone knows that it is the long snapper that gets all the ladies.
<insert "I like turtles" gif here>
Important (albeit underrated) position. Good get and congrats Mr. Tarr.
Now we just need to find the next Garrett Moore's to hold his snaps.
If Tarr doesn't pan out, maybe Adam Carolla still has some eligibility remaining...
