Welcome, young man! Happy to have you!
December 17th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
Looks like we have a back up FB for next year. He’ll be good behind Bench Mason.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:57 PM ^
On a lot of snaps. Let’s get the Benny to Bennie show going again...
December 17th, 2017 at 9:02 PM ^
I can see these two being in at the same time for pass pro. They'd be a bitch if assigned 'you got that side, i'll take this side" mode. Then with Vansueren, you also have to worry about the state's single season record holder for receptions sneaking out into the flats as well. I can definitely see it as well.
December 17th, 2017 at 9:18 PM ^
This is the third time I've seen a variation of this clever comment from you. Let it go. Neither of these guys is going to play QB.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:01 AM ^
They both played wildcat in high school. Let us dream of a Tim tebow sized wildcat QB.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:58 PM ^
with Ben Mason?
December 17th, 2017 at 4:02 PM ^
Bench Mason is Ben Mason's nickname
Due to his abilities in the weightroom.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:10 PM ^
I thought his nickname was Mason. Since he's built like a brick.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:26 PM ^
Personally I call him
Ben "'Bench Mason beacuse of his abilities in the weightroom' Mason, since he's built like a brick" Mason
My wife left me.

one of the great MGoUserNames of all time.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:32 PM ^
Thanks bub.
The reason I don't is because I don't like you guys very much.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:46 PM ^
Why do you have to be such a ballsack about it?
December 17th, 2017 at 5:05 PM ^
Ballsack, d-bag.....whatever.
December 17th, 2017 at 6:57 PM ^
No tangents. Make MGoBlog great again.

December 17th, 2017 at 3:49 PM ^
Sorry I am drinking your delicious scotch.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:46 PM ^
from Missouri
Some recruitniks say he is, at best, a PWO, maybe that is what we offered him?
Time will tell
December 17th, 2017 at 3:53 PM ^
?????
December 17th, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
area WR we just offered.
BTW - Ben is not a preferred Walk on - said in an earlier thread that on a 247 Big Ten recruiting podcast mid-fall, Wiltfong/Trieu were gushing about this kid as a perfect example of an under the radar type of kid Iowa takes and makes into an all conference player.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:13 PM ^
was referring to Ronnie Bell
Kid could be a good get even as a PWO
Go Blue!
December 17th, 2017 at 4:17 PM ^
anybody have a link to his film? the wr, not the fb
December 17th, 2017 at 10:04 PM ^
I thought his film was pretty good. Not sure about the level of competition, but needs a year or two in the weight room.
December 17th, 2017 at 8:52 PM ^
going to state with each coming in at 11 and 12, respectively for the state. The young man from Muskegon will not be playing qb but he, like Ben, is a baller. Both are more likely to be significant contributors to their teams than just roster fillers.
December 18th, 2017 at 6:59 AM ^
Given his size and testing numbers, it wouldn't surprise me if he turned into the next Funchess -- starting at TE but turning into a nightmare wideout for DBs to defend.
December 18th, 2017 at 8:38 AM ^
Funchess was 6’5” with good speed. We have enough outside and even at TE. I would make this kid a LB and have him sprint to the ball on each snap.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:47 PM ^
Give us all your Bens for fullback!
December 17th, 2017 at 3:48 PM ^
Great to have a fellow rocket scientist joining the Michigan family. With a name like that we can't go wrong.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:31 PM ^
It doesn't take rocket appliances to reaize all you have to do is steal players from Iowa.
December 17th, 2017 at 5:01 PM ^
Worst case Ontario he's a specialty team guy right from the get em and go.
December 17th, 2017 at 5:14 PM ^
So I think I'm going to have to start using "worst case Ontario" from now on.

Just as long as the ACLephant doesn't accompany them.
December 17th, 2017 at 10:07 PM ^
I thought Perry was from Purdue. You must
be thinking about AIRBHG.
December 17th, 2017 at 9:15 PM ^
I love it.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:48 PM ^
Based on what I have read about Ben V, he seems to be very nimble and agile for a big man and an excellent pass catcher.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:50 PM ^
85 catches in 9 games this year!

Ben and Ben are going to thump some mofos.
December 17th, 2017 at 3:49 PM ^
Looking forward to watching you clobber defenders on your way to many Michigan TDs!
December 17th, 2017 at 3:49 PM ^
Wiltfrong says Van Sumeren has a laser timed 4.5 40 time and 4.0 shuttle. He calls him one of the best athletes in the Midwest
Wasnt expecting those numbers
December 17th, 2017 at 4:06 PM ^
I think wilfong was reading a typo and it's more like a 4.7 fwiw
December 17th, 2017 at 4:09 PM ^
No I think he was reading it right. Even on 247 it says 4.56 40 time and 4.03 shuttle. He rounded down a smidge but still BV is FAST
December 17th, 2017 at 4:28 PM ^
His Sparq testing had a 4.7 40. Maybe he ran it another time.
Either way, the 4.3 shuttle for a guy his size is ridiculous.
I bet he has a very nice college career in Ann Arbor.
December 17th, 2017 at 4:40 PM ^
nike Opening regional measurements were 6'3", 215, 4.76 40, 4.03 shuttle, 39 Powerball, 40.3 vertical. all very good, but I think someone had a
typo on that 40 time and everybody has been repeating that instead of going back to the original source.
December 17th, 2017 at 5:44 PM ^
4 second shuttle and 40" vert are great for most any prospect, regardless of size or projected position.
if accurate, hes a pretty explosive athlete
December 17th, 2017 at 4:56 PM ^
https://www.theopening.com/2017-cleveland-results
Ben had the #1 overall score at the the Cleveland regional of The Opening with a listed 40 time of 4.76. He also had a 4.03 shuttle, 39.0' power ball toss and a 40.3" vertical jump.
Either Nike made a mistake or 247 made a typo and their writer Wiltfong is passing it along. My take is that Ben would be ranked a lot higher if you shave that much off of his 40 time. That's elite speed for a LB or a TE.
