Hello: Alex Sobczak

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

Coach Hutch and the Softball Team received a NLI on Friday from Alex Sobxzak.  Alex played her HS ball at Mercy High School in Farmington Hills.

Sobsczak is a catcher and bats right-handed.  While a Junior at Mercy, she batted .613 with 23 extra-base hits and 35 runs batted in over the 30-game season. She has an On-Base percentage of .733 and a slugging percentage of 1.163. As a Sophmore, she hit 17 HRs (the state record is 18).

Alex plays travel ball with High-Profile Finesse Fastpitch Organization and her 18U Gold squad finished in the top-16 at the 2014 Premier Girls Fastpitch Tournament in California. Throughout her high school career, she has earned a first team All-State citation, two all-region honors, and three all-district awards. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society.

I had the pleasure, or dis-pleasure as it were, of playing against Alex in a Tourney a few years ago.  It did not end well for me or my team.  This is another 5 Star recruit and especially since she played her High School and Travel Team ball in Michigan, says a lot about her talents.  Not many top-Quality Players play in the state of Michigan.

Three other players signed NLI's as well.  I will profile them these in the coming days as each deserves their own "Hello:" post.

Welcome to the family Alex.  Good luck in your studies and on the field.

For those that don't know this was the early signing period. I don't know if they have plans of adding a few more to the class but they can starting April 15 if there are spots open.

Also they probably don't have the whole name on a jersey or anything but "High-Profile Finesse Fastpitch Organization" is one heck of a mouthful for a travel club.

This is a very important recruit as she will likely have to play right away..they will be in desperate need for catching as top 2 catchers on team are both seniors.

Hitting live pitching in a cage about a month ago. Highly skilled. Not a "big" girl and ball just explodes off of her bat.
BTW, thanks mgosoftball for these updates. My daughters and I love keeping up.

MGoSoftball: Question for you. I have an 11 year old daughter who plays travel. Our town travel team is not very successful, and the same goes for our high school program. If my daughter had aspirations to play in college, what path would you recommend for her? I have very little knowledge of the high school to college system, so any info would be great. She currently plays catcher.

My kids played soccer only briefly. My son is 14 and plays only baseball now, with the exception of taking on his 11 year old sister in backyard basketball. It's helped her game tremendously!

Nice profile, always good to get an advance-look at the incoming talent.  The season's still months away, but I'm getting more & more excited for what lies in store.  Great to see Hutch stockpiling more talent for the future.

You get a clue douche. You and justindouche need to learn to read. It's a click bait post by not putting the sport when it's not football/basketball. Don't play dumb. You Nancies can neg all you want. Why would I expect less on a softball thread?

You know, I woke up this morning feeling a little off... not so fresh inside, if you know what I mean.  Then I read your well-reasoned and insightful posts, and I realized what the problem was.  Now I feel as fresh as a springtime rain with a just hint of lavender.  Thank you so so much.

(((hugs))),
