Has your opinion changed on Sherrone Moore?

How much credit should Sherrone Moore be getting for the oline and run game? How has your opinion of Moore changed over the first 2 games of the season?

I haven't seen anyone really mention anything about the job Moore has done and how great the oline has played these first 2 weeks.

I don't think logically there is much to glean from two weeks' worth of offensive line performance.. That said, being a fan also means being illogical at times, so I would say I'm slightly higher on Sherrone Moore than I thought I would be at the beginning of the season as an offensive line coach.

There is only so much you can gather from a non-opponent adjusted perspective, but I think things like execution, assignment identification, blocking adjustment calls at the line of scrimmage, etc. have all been excellent through the first two games this year, which certainly reflects well on Sherrone. Our guys have been damn near flawless adjusting and/or identifying their assignment and executing their blocks, which is a pretty positive indicator they're being coached well in practice and they understand the playbook.

As the schedule gets tougher, more UM film is on tape and teams start to adjust to Michigan's blocking schemes, we'll find out if Sherrone can identify and adjust on the fly, or if he's just good at coaching the base concepts, but for now there really hasn't been anything to object about. Vasdtardis has been outstanding with the line calls and executing some pretty difficult blocking assignments in the first two games, and this line is pasting the line of scrimmage, as you would expect them to against Western, and perhaps more impressively against Washington.

Too early to objectively grade Sherrone's job along the offensive line, but so far so good.

I’m encouraged but I still think we’ll learn more in future years (provided he’s still here) than this one given most of the players have had way more Warinner than Moore.

My opinion hasn't changed... hes a great recruiter, and a good coach and am glad to have him.  How he got Vastardis to play like this is impressive... or... its a 6th year Vastardis... 24 year olds play better vs 19 year olds.

Survey says: ask again after Wisconsin. If Michigan is able to keep McNamara upright and allow lanes for Haskins and Corum to run through, then we may very well have something here.

Otherwise, I'd rather not judge Moore's performances off of beating up on an overmatched MAC team and a woefully underperforming PAC-12 team. Granted, the guy has done his job well up to this point, and so far, there is nothing to complain about. But its been a fairly low bar to clear up until now.

I think we're going to find Moore and Hart have worked well together to fix the running game.  I've never seen our RB's pick holes and lanes this well and our oline and TEs are finding blocks and creating gaps almost every play.  Its been really nice to see.

You're not wrong at all, and I really like both additions to the staff.

I'm not sure the RBs have really been at fault for the running game in the past tho. It always seemed like the RBs were doing the right thing, but the holes weren't where they should be or they were dealing with people in the backfield (either through OL misses, or bad play-calls).   TBD on the play-calling, but the OL has been much better and consistent this year.

Definitely trending upwards.  OL seems to be working as a unit and executing various plays really well, against decent competition (at least as far as DLs go).  Truer tests will come, but happy so far.

I think the offensive line looks much crisper than they did last season, though with injuries and limited practice time it's hard to ascribe how much of that is due to Moore.  I do think that Warinner had sort of worn some people out by the end so a change was necessary.

I wasn't going to form an opinion on Moore as an OL coach and co-OC (and not sure what the title even means - seems like it's still the Josh Gattis show to me) until after the season.

That said, I'd attribute more of the run game success to the RB's themselves (one is an experienced upper classman who has shown he can do all this before and the other is Mike Hart but fast) and Mike Hart.

Warinner really wore on the guys last year. He had a tendency to leave players behind instructionally. He's a great coach to revive an OL, but not the best to groom and develop the future.

Moore has been fine, but Michigan has really been helped by the hiring of Kyle DeVan. Former pro lineman that was the OL Coach at Ball State and Arizona previously that's working as an offensive analyst and assisting Moore with all the little details. Guy is a full blown stud and he's either going to get another OL job soon, or he'll take over duties from Moore when Moore gets promoted or takes another job.

Simply put YES.

less simply: I think there are a few coaches with Analyst titles on the team with quite a bit of experience coaching / playing the position and that’s certainly helping.

I really rank last weeks performances very high in terms of single game OL performances by an OL for a Harbaugh team especially vs a top 20 talent composite team level competition.

it was special. I was annoyed about the pass play calling however, I put more into how dominate the OL was even though the defense knew it was coming.

yes, absolutely!  I was very concerned he hadn't coached OL before and at minimum he would need to "come up the learning curve" before he got good at it.  And that's not the case at all.  The OL is undeniably much improved at least on run blocking vs.last year.  The run game has been absolutely excellent for the first time in years, and that's exciting!

Last Saturday we lined up for four quarters against a legit P5 defense and basically told them we were going to run the ball down their throats, dared them to stop us, and they had no answer.  That is fantastic.

yes he has plenty of help but that's what smart people do - they draw on the complementary abilities of people around them.

obviously we need to wait and see how is the pass blocking and what happens once good DC's have seen our film, before we can give him a full grade.  But this seems like a home run so far.

Unless the other coaches are coaching the OL Sherrone Moore should have all the credit. He is coaching these guys up. We are early in the season and the these guys are working like a well oiled machine much of the time.

Two week caveats apply, but I'm ready to eat at least a serving of crow about this. I thought his coaching of the OL would be a clear weakness, and it's been a strength. By all accounts, the players have bought in, and their play speaks for itself.

Chomp, chomp. Keep it up Sherrone!!

Thus far the Oline is playing really well.  The tests are coming in the BigTen that will be the true measure.  It's hard to say how well till then.  We will also need the QB to play his part in not holding the ball to long, completing passes and improving his game against good defenses.  Can't create his own sacks, has to help the line where he moves in the pocket or finds the open rec and gets rid of it timely and or throws it away rather than taking bad hits.

Games will come where the oline is doing well or struggling and that's where you need the qb.

It's only been 2 weeks thus far, yet I will say that up to this point I am impressed and pleased with the job he has done. If this continues for the remainder of the season and they're able to have success against upper tier B1G teams then yes I would say this was probably the best of some good hires.
