"I'm committed to this team," Hart said. "This is who I am. I am Eastern Michigan. I coach at Eastern Michigan. I want Eastern Michigan to win every game. I don't cheer for Michigan ever anymore. I watch the game and I watch as a coach trying to see what they're going to do."

Why would you not cheer for your school agaist MSU or OSU? As much as I liked Hart as a player, he talks too much.

He is answering the way that he is supposed to answer.

The only part that I don't love is the "I don't cheer for Michigan ever anymore."  Why not?  You are an alum, you were a part of the program for 4 passionate years.  You can be loyal to your current team and still root for Michigan.  Something along the lines of:

"I'm committed to this team," Hart said. "This is who I am. I am Eastern Michigan. I coach at Eastern Michigan. I want Eastern Michigan to win every game. Of course I still have a love of Michigan - I had 4 great years there, and Michigan is a part of what made me who I am.  I still cheer for Michigan, except when they play EMU."

Is it possible for a "Michigan Man" to be so incognito that he/she forgets that he/she is a "Michigan Man."  Kind of like an agent that goes undercover with the mob and forgets he/she is a cop (a la Johnny Depp in "Donnie Brasco")?

/hating the "Michigan Man" meme

Don't overanalyze.  I would expect nothing less from one of the most loyal student-athletes that Michigan has ever seen to be loyal to his current program.  Good for him.

Best of luck to Coach Hart in every game (but next week's).

LOL I call bullshit on this one. This is a guy who called Harbaugh out for making comments about Michigan and now he's saying this? He's one of the biggest Michigan supporters out there.

That said I hope #20 Shaw gets many touchdowns Saturday.

spread option offense for EMU?

Sacrilege!

I'm sure there's "Manbaww" in there somewhere though, you know, when Alex Gillette isn't keeping the ball on a zone read every 3rd play.

Good to see the Hurons 2-0 though.

ummm... I saw him at Pizza House late Saturday night with a bunch of former players and they were all celebrating like everyone else. And Mike basically led the charge with those guys. I wouldn't read into this.

Michigan as late as last year's UCONN game.  I saw him on the sidelines.

Although I do wonder if he has found himself less enthusiastic for the program after the coaching change.  He was pretty vocal about how upset he was that RR wasn't getting enough support from the alumni and players.  Not to say he was an RR guy or anti-Hoke or whatever (I have no idea); I could just see how the whole scenario could turn him off a bit.  All standard disclaimers about CC apply here.  Regardless of the coach fired/hired, I doubt he was proud of the way things went down.

Mike Hart

(3) every week except for when I play them. I don't cheer for any team but the team I coach. I DONT expect people to be okay with that

Mike Hart

(2) As a coach you don't cheer for other teams when I am committed to the 120 players that I coach. I hope that Michigan wins

(1) Everyone that knows me knows I love Michigan. People need to realize that I have a Job and I coach Eastern Michigan.

im sure everyone knows he probably didnt mean this literally but why say it at all? The part about not rooting for UM "ever" was totally unnecessary and added nothing to the support he was giving his kids at EMU. For anyone saying he had to say it, thats not true at all.

EDIT...Good to hear Mike clarify and back off that misguided statement.

Open mouth, insert foot.  Sometimes Mike Hart would serve himself best by just keeping his mouth shut.  Everyone understands his position with Eastern.  "I am Eastern Michigan".  No Mike, you are not, or you are not the guy I watched for four years playing for Michigan.

people should not give Hart any ounce of grief for this. It's coach-speak and that's it. I work as an engineer. Say my dream job is to work at Ford. If my boss asks me if I love Ford over my current job I'm not going to say "I LOVE FORD XOXO" unless I want to get myself fired. You feel me?

shuffle, penetration step, worm, break dance, Macarena, country music line dance, mime emulation, roll or Pokemon.

I don't know what type of ambulation "The Pokemon" is, but I can guarantee if you asked Mike Hart to do it on his way to accepting a job on our staff, he'd say "Sure, it goes like this . . ."

That's why we love you, Mike Hart.
