hart says what he has to say
i don't believe him
http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/32831/mike-hart-not-as-much-a-…
"I'm committed to this team," Hart said. "This is who I am. I am Eastern Michigan. I coach at Eastern Michigan. I want Eastern Michigan to win every game. I don't cheer for Michigan ever anymore. I watch the game and I watch as a coach trying to see what they're going to do."
September 12th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
It is almost humorous.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
It's not like he can really say much else, and no I don't believe him either.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
Why would you not cheer for your school agaist MSU or OSU? As much as I liked Hart as a player, he talks too much.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
"We don't belieeeeve you....you need more peeeeeople...."

Fitting for the occasion...

How I feel...
September 12th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
He is answering the way that he is supposed to answer.
The only part that I don't love is the "I don't cheer for Michigan ever anymore." Why not? You are an alum, you were a part of the program for 4 passionate years. You can be loyal to your current team and still root for Michigan. Something along the lines of:
"I'm committed to this team," Hart said. "This is who I am. I am Eastern Michigan. I coach at Eastern Michigan. I want Eastern Michigan to win every game. Of course I still have a love of Michigan - I had 4 great years there, and Michigan is a part of what made me who I am. I still cheer for Michigan, except when they play EMU."
September 12th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
Just curious, is it proper form to block quote something you wish somebody else had said?
September 12th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
Someone hasn't picked up Elements of Style in a while. Strunk and White say it's perfectly accectable to blockquote a fake Mike Hart quote, but only on the internet. p36 handles the hard copy procedure.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
Mike Hart was never very good at lying.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
Is it possible for a "Michigan Man" to be so incognito that he/she forgets that he/she is a "Michigan Man." Kind of like an agent that goes undercover with the mob and forgets he/she is a cop (a la Johnny Depp in "Donnie Brasco")?
/hating the "Michigan Man" meme
September 12th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
I thought you were going to reference Jeff Goldblum in "Deep Cover" but then you went all "Donnie Brasco" on me.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
Goldblum was already in the business in that film, you should say Lawrence Fishbourne.
September 12th, 2011 at 9:54 PM ^
Doh, you're right.
I fail.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
Oh, Mike.....you speak in hyperbole as usual.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:18 PM ^
mean that his dream job isn't Michigan anymore?
September 12th, 2011 at 5:18 PM ^
Do you want the---
MIKE HART: yes, I want the job. Thank you!
September 12th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
It'd be that fast.
BTW, I'd like the gentleman in your picture there to make a play or two this year!
September 12th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
Am I the only one who thinks he looks slow?
Could he really still be sick?
September 12th, 2011 at 5:49 PM ^
There are rumors that he was sick during camp and that there might be something lingering.
I thought he looked kind of slow as well. Maybe his weight gain wasn't for the best.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
could be mono? definitely takes a while to recover fully from that.
September 12th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
Black in the starting lineup til Roh is 100%. I think Black looks really good!
September 12th, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
Don't overanalyze. I would expect nothing less from one of the most loyal student-athletes that Michigan has ever seen to be loyal to his current program. Good for him.
Best of luck to Coach Hart in every game (but next week's).
September 12th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
Mike Hart will replace Fred Jackson on the staff when he retires.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
I have a feeling it is going to come down to Tyrone Wheatly and Mike Hart. I'm not sure who I would rather have.
September 12th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
I would be willing to bet money on it

Mike Hart == Fake Wolverine
/s (did I really even need this?)
September 12th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
...That's just fine. See if we ever make #20 a legend now! LOL
(kidding)
September 12th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
LOL I call bullshit on this one. This is a guy who called Harbaugh out for making comments about Michigan and now he's saying this? He's one of the biggest Michigan supporters out there.
That said I hope #20 Shaw gets many touchdowns Saturday.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
This is humorous. "He is Eastern Michigan"??? How long has he been a coach there? I really love coach speak sometimes.
September 12th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
nah...that doesn't work, either.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:24 PM ^
No, I don't believe him either. That entire quote is for the Eastern players. They have to know that Hart has their backs. He's one of their coaches. What else is he supposed to say?
September 12th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
spread option offense for EMU?
Sacrilege!
I'm sure there's "Manbaww" in there somewhere though, you know, when Alex Gillette isn't keeping the ball on a zone read every 3rd play.
Good to see the Hurons 2-0 though.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
still luvs me some Bike Hart, I really hope we destroy CAW, but I hope that is their only loss on the season.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
ummm... I saw him at Pizza House late Saturday night with a bunch of former players and they were all celebrating like everyone else. And Mike basically led the charge with those guys. I wouldn't read into this.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
Michigan as late as last year's UCONN game. I saw him on the sidelines.
Although I do wonder if he has found himself less enthusiastic for the program after the coaching change. He was pretty vocal about how upset he was that RR wasn't getting enough support from the alumni and players. Not to say he was an RR guy or anti-Hoke or whatever (I have no idea); I could just see how the whole scenario could turn him off a bit. All standard disclaimers about CC apply here. Regardless of the coach fired/hired, I doubt he was proud of the way things went down.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:45 PM ^
Sure, Mike...

I don't know if you'll be able to see that picture because it is on facebook, but it is a picture of one of my friends from Saturday night with Mike Hart who apparently showed up at their house somehow
September 12th, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
It didn't work. Right click the photo and do copy image URL (or copy image location) and paste that.
September 12th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
im sure everyone knows he probably didnt mean this literally but why say it at all? The part about not rooting for UM "ever" was totally unnecessary and added nothing to the support he was giving his kids at EMU. For anyone saying he had to say it, thats not true at all.
EDIT...Good to hear Mike clarify and back off that misguided statement.

" I don't cheer for Michigan ever anymore." - Mike Hart
Love ya, Mike, but this line - uh-huh. See ya when Fred Jackson retires.
September 12th, 2011 at 6:03 PM ^
I will believe Hart when Fred Jackson stops calling all our incoming frosh RB recruits a combination of Hart/Simpson/Dorsett/Usain Bolt/Unicorn/ManBearPig but faster....
September 12th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
"ManBearPig but faster" would be awesome coming from Fred Jackson....it would have to be an awesome RB, of course.
September 12th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
Open mouth, insert foot. Sometimes Mike Hart would serve himself best by just keeping his mouth shut. Everyone understands his position with Eastern. "I am Eastern Michigan". No Mike, you are not, or you are not the guy I watched for four years playing for Michigan.
September 12th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
people should not give Hart any ounce of grief for this. It's coach-speak and that's it. I work as an engineer. Say my dream job is to work at Ford. If my boss asks me if I love Ford over my current job I'm not going to say "I LOVE FORD XOXO" unless I want to get myself fired. You feel me?

We all know Mike Hart would walk from Ypsilanti to Ann Arbor if the job was offered.
September 12th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
shuffle, penetration step, worm, break dance, Macarena, country music line dance, mime emulation, roll or Pokemon.
I don't know what type of ambulation "The Pokemon" is, but I can guarantee if you asked Mike Hart to do it on his way to accepting a job on our staff, he'd say "Sure, it goes like this . . ."
That's why we love you, Mike Hart.
September 12th, 2011 at 7:07 PM ^
Pretty sure I saw Coach Hart outside Rick's after the game. He didn't seem too broken up about the win.
