Who's got it better than us?

Just experienced 1of the high points in my life: Speaking w/ Michigan grad & legend James Earl Jones. Doesn't get any better! Just doesn't!

Harbaugh should get him to record a version of "The Spirit of Michigan" or Bo's "The Team The Team The Team" speech. Would much rather hear that over the loudspeakers than rawk before a game.

James Earl Jones is a legend.

I still remember my sophomore year when the petition went around to make Jones the official voice of CRISP, which would have naturally brought the number of people who dared to press 7 to disenroll to zero, or at least there may not have been living witnesses to the contrary. In any case, I was part of that unsuccessful effort.

Nice to see the list of famous alums - athletes and otherwise - coming to see what's been going on in Ann Arbor lately and stopping in to see Jim Harbaugh.

CRISP itself was the way of registering for courses in the 1980s/90s.  You went on the phone, called some number and an automated lady slowly gave you commands about what to enter in on the  keypad: "Enter the subject number" . . . "Enter the course number" . . . "Enter the number of credits."   You had to enter it all in on the keypad and you only had a limited amount of time before the CRISP lady chided you for not making your choice.  Beyond that, you were put on hold frequently because the system couldn't handle very many people at one time.

The whole process could take from 15 minutes to over an hour, depending on whether you could enter everything in correctly, get the courses you wanted, and how busy the system was.  It was nerve-wracking trying to enter in those numbers within the allotted amount of time.  I would always screw up some number in there and have to redo a bunch of steps.  The CRISP lady's "If this is not correct, press 1 now" is burned into my memory.  It always felt like a great accomplishment when you got that whole process done.

More generally, "crisp" became the verb for registering for your classes, as in "I just crisped for next term."   U-M switched to an online registration system my senior year (Wolverine Access?) but people still talked about "crisping."

OK, Brian.  Can we please just have an embedded section on the main page that just automatically posts Harbaugh tweets and allows people to comment?

1. They're always fantastic.

2. Each one always causes at least a couple threads on the board as it is.

I'll hang up and listen.

The Harbaugh is coming here?

That is correct, and he is most displeased with our apparent lack of progress.

We shall double our efforts, then.

I hope so, for your sake. The Harbaugh is not as forgiving as I am.

When I was about 14-15, I got to take a limo ride with James Earl Jones and I still remember it clearly. Even way back then he was looking very frail and I just couldn't stop thinking about what a powerful voice he had and how crazy it was that I was meeting Darth Vader. IIRC, the actor in the suit did all the lines in the movie originally and was pissed that they over-dubbed his voice. The movies just wouldn't have been the same with anybody else. I second the earlier post about having him read "The Team" and playing it in the intro before home games. Sounds Awesome. Hey, see you guys a week from tomorrow! I'm so excited for the Road Trip!!!
