So it's Friday, finally. What's everyone up to this weekend? I'm in a wedding this afternoon so I got the day off listening to these guys for a while.
As always, GIFs.
Ann Arbor tomorrow. Mullet Lake for two weeks, then fly to CA to drive my daughter from SF back to school. That should just about wrap summer up, and then football!
I used to go to Mullet lake every summer. Of course that was before responsibility set in and the parents stopped paying my way.
The Lone Ranger and Tonto sarted at a camp at Mullett Lake. It went to Detroit radio and the setting was moved out west when it became a tv show.
So I'm going to go with what I'm actually doing for a change. Going to a birthday party, then planning on seeing this:
And I must find a way to get me some BBQ this weekend....
click the profile and do yourself a favor. Cool stuff this week.
I saw it last night, you might be disappointed with the changes to Silver Samurai and Madame Hydra, but it's a quality flick and loads better than X-Men Origins. I didn't have high expectations and came away more than satisfied.
PS- Stay for the end credits.
You mess up Silver Samurai and I'm "eh." And Viper has had so many vesions, I can deal. I would be more worried how they deal with Shingen and Mariko. But I know it's not going to literally be the first Wolverine mini put to screen.
Funny review by the Detroit News guy....he complains that it doesn't take into account what happened in Avengers, or why it follows X-Men 3 and not Wolverine Origin or First Class (which I don't have to explain to you why that's stupid). Called it Wolverine in a James Bond movie...and the first time ever I heard a critic complain there weren't ENOUGH mutants. But then I thnk Tom Long is just getting lazy; his Star Trek Into Darkness review had the big spoiler in the review.
(For various reasons boring to anyone but me, didn't get to make it last night. But will still see it. I mean Hugh was on one of the talk shows and had a shout out to U-M's football team.)
to buy and set mole traps.
I am really excited about it.
You can probably tell from this post how incredibly excited I am about it.
Plasticized poison in worm form- freakin lethal. I've never not had them work.
the ones I get are rubbery, look a lot like artificial fishing lure worms. Dig a small hole in the mole pathway with a screwdriver, drop it in, cover it up. Soon, no more moles.
been using the "poison pellets" and getting nowhere. I believe I am using them correctly but this bastard keeps tearing my shit up. I am sick of thinking I have taken care of it only to have another area dug up the next day. I want a body this time. I want to look in his eyes and tell him he messed with the wrong man.
We've got a veritable Carl Spackler on our hands.
VC == Varmint Cong
If you catch two, make sure you send one back to "tell his friends..."
One thing about the poison if you go back to it is once you THINK you've killed it, or them, off... step down on all the tunnels they dig and go back to check periodically to make sure they don't come back. More tunnels = more poison needed.
Pro tip: Don't use them for fishing
I have to help my brother in law move...to Columbus...posbangs welcome...
I have some good jokes he can use...
be on commit watch!
My wife and I are hanging drywall for the first time. Yay for buying an old house (built in 1905).
USA basketball was having a scrimmage in Las Vegas and a young Air Force Airman dunked the ball wearing full BDUs and combat boots. From the looks of it, he was the size of a point guard. Can you imagine how he'd go if he had court shoes on??
He's in the Air Force.
I'm going to a Spin Doctors concert.
Just kidding, that would be crazy.
I actually have a wedding to go to Saturday.
Lots of hydrating today. Because i'll be feeling no pain tomorrow.
One of the more beautiful sights - Flathead Lake, Montana. It's calm, clear and incredibly serene.
Looks awesome. I finished the John Muir Trail last week - the water was so clear it felt like you were looking at the bottom of rivers and lakes without any water in them.
Hung over at work! There will be no productivity today.
I am too old for this shit.
without confirmation that Fournette is on campus???
I hope someone directed him to Angelo's. He'll commit on the spot
Everyday, is the worst day of my life...until football season starts. Today is just another terrible day analyzing bridges. Wish I had something sweet planned, but I'll just be stuck in this hell hole Okemos with my toughts. This is a pos bang thread right? I haven't been pos banged in a year...
That's a pity posbang
ahhh, glad thats over with, I mean I'm sorry , that doesn't usually happen, it's just been so long....give me 15 minutes and I'll be ready for round 2 and it will be better , trust me.
Treat yo'self to a michelada (as a Bloody Mary substitute for brunch if you are so inclined):
^^^ Best comment of the day.
You can't drink all day,if you don't start in the morning.
Got to get up early to get laid by noon.
Need to change a cable box because it decided to stop working yesterday
and then MICHIGAN SUMMER BEERFEST tomorrow. Will I be trying to put a dent in the more than 800 beers? You betcha
my girl and I are taking the Harley down for the fest...will find a spot to hang out and have dinner / sober up for the ride home.
As of now, Michigan Brewers Guild lists 125 breweries OPEN in Michigan. My quest is to hit them all, and I'm currently at 105 (not counting many that have since closed). I'll never finish the quest of course...too many new ones, but you gotta have goals in life!
See both of you there. The list of beers that are going to be there is just insane. Lots of real good stuff. Are either of you enthusiasts? Very worth it to get in an hour early. Even more important during the Winter fest because it's smaller. Short's and Bell's usually kill it.
I don't have the "enthusiast" card. My GF lives about three minutes from Fifth Third Ballpark though, which is a nice advantage for the winter festival.
I plan to be in line fairly early to get in ASAP, and I'll be wearing this hat:
Nice! Yeah February's winter fest was my first as an enthusiast. It worked out well because we ran around to all the tents and got all the beers we wanted the most and the next thing we knew, everyone else was being let in. We just took it slow after that. Summer fest is great because it's spread out over two days and it's in a bigger area. I'll def be looking for that hat.
kind of a long shot, but then again the hat is not very common. If you see me, I will buy you a very small beer. :)
This weekend, my in-laws have decided to try an experiment wherein they relieve my wife and I of our children for the evening, better known as a "sleepover". Except for a few instances where this has been an emergency arrangement, they've never done this for fun before and my daughter in particular has wanted to spend the night at grandma's, so tonight is the night. I am pretty sure that this means my wife and I will sit in the family room recliners, strain to hear the sound of no impending disaster, and think, "Weird, very weird...."
The rest of the weekend will hopefully be spent in relative quiet - it's been a busy month, and this is the first weekend in July where there has not been a party or family event of some sort planned, so I am going to try to limit this to baseball, beer and the odd grilled food, but on a much smaller and less expensive scale.
Ugh I wish, we are taking on extra kids for the night.
Heading north tonight for a boys weekend - me, my son and the dog. There will be junk food, boat rides and pigskin flinging.
stupid work always making me show up for stupid (and essential) money.
the kids to a local waterpark - with weather cooperation
I've had this last year off to do absolutely nothing. But now, orientation is next week and I start the long haul the week after. Can't believe I have 4 more years. Blech
I want my Coronas now.
Looking forward to the end of my first full training week coming off a knee. It still hurts a bit, but I think I will just ignore it. I'm sick of waiting.
Take car to body shop. Take dog to vet. drink beer.
...but I'm here for another three weeks, which inevitably means yay busy work. Although for a paid summer job and good experience I can't complain.
On another note though, anyone out there an Excel power user? I'm starting to work with spreadsheets a lot that have macros and everything and it's totally foreign to me, we never learn that in school.
do you need to know? Any specific questions?
I know alot, but not nearly as much as this guy: Mr. Excel
We live and die by spreadsheets and tracking about 300,000,000 things at DTE, but if you need some Excel assistance, I do nearly all of the reporting for our planning region out of Excel, so I would be happy to try and help out.
I don't really need to know any of it in particular, I just notice all these super involved spreadsheets and was curious where everyone learned it all, because beyond basic operations I learned in middle school computer classes that's still as much as I can do without looking stuff up. Is it just something you learn on the job?
I came into this years ago knowing quite a bit from previous positions already, but yeah, you basically get a crash course in Excel (or the company does send folks up to Horizon Learning Center in Livonia for training too) in a lot of engineering / management positions in this company, especially ones which touch any of the CI teams or Centers Of Excellence and their efforts. In those cases, you'll know an eerie amount about what goes on.
you'll know an eerie amount about what goes on.
It's amazing what people will put in spreadsheets and think by Hiding a column that it's "secure".
Very unsettling to learn what everyone in the company's pay grade was...then finding a corresponding mapping spreadsheet on the intranet...and realizing the schlub a$$wipe next to you could buy and sell you.
Being a computer programmer and currently writing code to create an online store, security is a crazy issue. One slipup in my code and a regular joe hacker could access every database that exists in the company.. right through the URL.
"and realizing the schlub a$$wipe next to you could buy and sell you."
That will never ever stop happening. It's like a bad trip, man. You just go with it and don't get too worked up about it.
But the only juicy info I got is on a training qualification called "ELECTRICAL STD SAFETY TRAINING"
This is why you don't abbreviate standard as STD. Electrical STDs sound awful.
One week til I return home...counting down the days!
Heading up to the island this weekend with the Mrs for "Christmas in July" at Put-in-Bay. Woo dogie that place is nuts.
before I leave, but then the UP for a week! fishing the Escanaba and Black and maybe the Driggs and Fox as well as a couple pike lakes. There will be pike gumbo, smoked whitefish pate, Lehto's pasties, cold beer and cigars by the campfire. YES.
I caught a catfish Wednesday....
My wife and 4 yr old son are in California visiting her sister who just had a baby. I'm home with my 7 yr old daughter for a week. I'm thinking I'll take her to Lake Michigan tomorrow, probably via Hoffmaster St Park.
I hear there's a wave advisory out there...keep an eye on her.
He's a Bielemer.
They'll have a good season every once in a while, people will be amazed when they finished 2nd or 3rd but before long they just kind of suck again without any hope of sustained success
Try to finish 3 or 4 of the 50 or so things I have to finish prior to a corporate survey coming up. Just sucks. Then, who knows? The wife is working 7p-7a tomorrow and Sunday, so we'll have to figure out something for tonight.
Still trying to figure this out.
At first, I thought maybe the guy is actually sitting with his back on the ground, and his feet on the wall and it's just an optical illusion, but then if that was the case, he'd have to have a ridiculously strong core. And wouldn't the couch have to be bolted to the wall? It doesn't look like it's been edited, but then again, what do I know?
Look at the baby's feet. They drop towards the "wall" as the baby is being moved.
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?
I just watched this last night.
About halfway through my GF came home drunk and started scolding me about how awful and gross that movie is. I stood up and went to bed.
This morning she woke up having remembered nothing of what happened and said "TGIF!"
Your left ... gravity is pulling the cuff away from the shoe.
And, while I don't have a "ridiculously strong core", I have okay conditioning and could carry this off. The baby probably weighs less than 20 lbs and he's twisting to his right, actually lowering the baby to the floor.
Still, this is a great illusion. Very well done.
You can see the chair tip back towards the "wall" a little when he puts down the kid.
But you are 100% correct; knowing how it was done doesn't mean it wasn't effectively done.
Working a half day, then going to the Michigan Beer fest in Ypsi, then the bars in AA after. Going to be a good night
Chillin' waiting for fall practice to kick into gear
I need me some posbang. This day is going terribly. Our design-build project that is going very poorly since our own internally staffed contractor has departed from our design plans. They even knowingly lied to me about As-Constructed items. Now the client and regulator are admittedly upset.
Laying around bout to have breakfast then go to work today and tomorrow and on Sunday visit my aunt who's coming up from Louisiana...kinda funny now that I think about it since Fournette will be up too
in French Riviera and headed back to the States tomorrow.
I'll be taking my wife out to dinner for her birthday and probably starting edits on my next novel. Also enjoying the first full day of the next month off of chemotherapy. Which means I can finally have a goddamn beer!
BTW, sloths are my favorite animal, so thanks to the OP for the gif!
? Where is said bar that has 120 on tap? Only place I had it on tap was at the Dogfish Rehoboth tavern.
After two of those, you won't care if she's big and ugly, either.
Half over. Catching up on my morning during lunch, then will make the final push until the end of the day. Thankfully my 3:45 slot is empty.
May hit Home Depot to get some crabgrass killer to spread before the weekend. Eating dinner somewhere in Ellicott City, MD with the wife and pooch. Tomorrow, dropping off pooch at her boarding/daycare place, and heading to Ocean City NJ for a drunk weekend with the fam.
canoe trip, lots of imbibing and general debauchery.
Rest on Sunday to rehydrate.
There's a new Comedy Bang Bang on IFC tonight.
Heading to Iowa to visit one of my wife's old high school friends and his wife and kids. We haven't seen him since he returned from deployment to Iraq, so it'll be nice to see them again and catch up.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Its my birthday.
I got Denard Robinson Football 14 fpr ps3, a 1969 photo of the team rushing the field when they upset ohio signed by Paul Seymour, Paul Staroba, Marty Huff, Don Moorhead, Billy Taylor, Thom Darden and Tom Curtis.
Going for a nice dinner at Pizza House, going to blow all my birthday money on memorabilia and gear at Ann Arbor Sports Memorabilia and MDen. And last but certainly not least I'm getting some sod from Ferry Field to freeze dry and display since they're tearing it out soon.
Best MGoBirthday ever.
Happy Birthday sweetheart!
Mine, too! Happy birthday and Go Blue!
Getting a quick workout in and then heading to St. Louis for a birthday. It'll be nice to do nothing for the rest of summer.
Sparty buddy is coming into town from Northville. I'm gonna give him a preview of what Hoke's boys are gonna do to his team by beating him down big time.
Well, actually I have a pretty nice little Saturday planned. We're going to Home Depot. Buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath and Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.
So no reason.
Fish fry, boat cruise, picnic, dinner, hopefully some golf. Lots of inlaws from Delaware, Ohio though (just north of Columbus), so I expect to hear a little smack talk. Will be decked out in Maize and Blue and collecting skulls on the golf course though :)
Going to see blues legend Buddy Guy in Toledo.
I came extremely close to getting a bal signed by Roy Halladay, but as he turned and took one step towards me, a ball was hit in his direction. After he fielded it and threw it to a kid 50 feet to the left of me, someone called his name and he ran away.
