Greg Sankey Wants to Keep Football Recruiting "Healthy"

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

And those incentives Gary was supposedly offered? Those would be "healthy" incentives.

. @GregSankey said they want to keep football recruiting in a healthy atmosphere.

It's his job.  One of Sankey's key responsbilities is to be an advocate for the SEC, and he's being an advocate for the SEC.  The NCAA, on the other hand, could be a more objective arbiter of what's acceptable and unacceptable, but they've let shit get totally out of hand.

I don't blame Sankey, and I think this kind of back-and-forth is kind of fun and good for Michigan.  But the NCAA seriously sucks.

I think there are plenty of other "incentives" offered that are known and soon to come to light (ie. Ole Mi$$).

I like Jake Butt's perspective on the spring practice in Florida as a current college student, since it's pretty healthy IMO.

For those who missed it:

As a student athlete, I like the idea of knocking out some of my spring practices when I don't have to worry about class..

This guy is a complete clown. In addition to being completely full of shit, he has no idea when to just shut the fuck up. Literally nobody believes anything he's saying yet every couple of days he has to spout off

ESPN still has the TV rights to the CFP.  I think they understand how many TV sets we bring into the equation and would love us in there as often as Alabama is in the playoff.

Remember that Sankey hasn't been on the job a full year.  There's no way he's speaking out on this without Saban and the other coaches directing them.  Also, remember that Ole Mi$$ is being hit with high level NCAA violations.  Sankey only made a fuss about this when the Ole Mi$$ stuff came out this week.  We knew the football team was going to Florida since the middle of last week.  He's saying what the coaches want him to say while deflecting attention from that dirty ass program in Oxford, MS.

Thank you Commisioners Sankey and Swofford for bringing such publicity to Michigan footbnall recruiting.   It has greatly helped ensure Michigan's recruiting success in the South.

Yes.  If I am a 5-star recruit in the south, I want to hear from Michigan just to see what all the attention is about.  I may like what I see.

Recruits who visit Ann Arbor really like Ann Arbor.  I'm not sure why the SEC wants to get recruits interested in seeing what is going on at Michigan when they would not otherwise do so.

On the old Hollywood Squares game show, which is just tic-tac-toe, when a contestant would do something stupid the MC would not call them out on it directly.  Instead he would say in a patronizing voice: "Interesting strategy. This might work out."

Interesting strategy, SEC. This might work out.

Players get to enjoy nice weather for a week- Florida is perfect in the spring. Recruits get the opportunity to see the team practice and get acquainted with coaches. No one is harmed besides the SEC. Harbaugh is doing what is best for his team- that's exactly what he is supposed to do.

shut the fuck up about Harbaugh? This is probably because McElwain is crying to him saying Harbaugh is actually doing better than most SEC teams. Sankey is a little pussy bitch who cant just worry about his own conference. The NCAA wont change shit so shut up Sankey. I hope no children read this.
