Good Beilein news!
First off, really cool to finally make a thread on the new site.
I'm getting more and more indications that Dwayne Casey is the clubhouse leader to get the #Pistons coaching job. #Michigan fans might get their wish.

Juwan Howard getting the Pistons job plus Beilein staying would have been the ultimate combo for Michigan fans. But Beilein staying is all the matters. Go Blue!
yeah because Sam said Casey is the leader.
I was hoping the new site would make it dummy proof for posting these kind of things. OP shouldn't have to learn the complicated formatting the old site had.
Well that's good news for us but not the Pistons, Casey seems to not be able to get over the hump.
I know it's the Lebron hump but still.
LeBron might be retired (or at least playing elsewhere) by the time the Pistons will be ready to contend.
Yeah, but his kids will probably be in the League by then.
Yes, please!
We need this to be true
Does anyone know if Jason Kidd got an interview? Just two days ago it was reported he was a candidate. I’m curious because he’s not a bad coach.
I think I’d rather have Casey than Kidd
I'd rather have the Pistons take anyone over Beilein.
Is that sarcasm? Kidd was a terrrrrrible coach.
Correct. since I can't upvote this I'm typing agreement
Yes, but at least he knew how to steal a timeout with nothing but a cup of soda.
Beard is simply throwing up tweets as click bait hell he was saying Casey was the leader 24 hrs ago and Beilein around 48 hrs before that...
Wonder if this click-bait-hungry "writer" was just trying to hurt our recruiting.
Don't care as long as we keep Coach B
This makes me almost as happy as when I realized that the page that was up today was not the new and improved website.
Amen, brother!!!!
test.
Pass
I think its pretty obvious JB comes back, but I guess ive seen stranger things. Seems like an obvious leverage play on his lifetime contract
Disagree wholeheartedly with anybody who thinks this is a contract issue.
If Beilein walked into Manuel's office three weeks ago and said "I'd like an extension with a raise for both me and my assistants", I would be shocked if the university's answer was no. There was no need for some hardball power negotiation. He is already the 9th highest paid head coach in college basketball. It's not like Michigan wasn't taking care of him.
All of the people regurgitating the same "Back up the Brinks truck" nonsense are implying that Beilein is unhappy and/or has a contentious relationship with the Athletic Department. Neither of which seem remotely true nor in line with Beilein's character.
Here's your long form +1.
Yes please be true!!
Most indications seem to be that Casey is getting the job.
I like the Dwayne Casey choice, but mostly for selfish reasons. I think he will be a big upgrade over Stan and we don't lose our leader.
I'm glad they didn't interview or hire Izzo. That way Coach B. Can continue his dominance over MSU.
I think the organization really believes that this roster is ready for a playoff run(I disagree strongly with that!) and they want to hire the coach who is experienced with a veteran team.
He’ll be here until he retires. On the flip side, I kind of figured once they interviewed Casey he was going to get the job.

Great news
Hope it’s true, don’t want to lose JB.
#Spurs assistant Ime Udoka could be #Pistons' choice: https://t.co/Kgj7nfJHm2 via @detroitnews pic.twitter.com/o1a2yIk1BS

Nice!! We need at least 5 more years out of JB!
I really wish coach B would make a statement. The longer this drags out the more worried I get.
That or Warde comes out with news of a fat extension and big pay raise for JB's staff.
That would be fine also.
The Drew Henson conspiracy theorist in me says that this was a staee plot engineered by gores to disrupt our awesome recruiting momentum. Will be glad when this is over and all will be well in A2.
I think we'll all be able to rest easy in the next week or so when the Pistons settle on someone not named Bielien. We'll be happy and the Pistons can proceed operating in a vacuum.
Please don't go JB! As a fan I really want to see what he can do with these next two classes. Especially if Carton commits.
Good Beilein news? GREAT Beilein news!!
New site, why you no auto-recognize something is a link?
Never mind, it notified me it didn't recognize it. I think it's because the link ends with WD's twitter handle.
"Dwayne Casey would be an awful choice. Beilein is the obvious choice." -Thomas Izzo
This really would be great news! Please stay Coach B!!
Anybody else still get taken to the joke 90s site when they type in mgoblog.com? I can't get to the front page even when I click the banner.
Clear browsing data & cache, should make things better
So I probably should have thought of that myself (I'm a bad millennial) but thank you for helping me in my time of need.
My pet theory:
Coach B was initially flattered and also had some sincere interest. He also wanted to be conscientious and use this as a learning opportunity (i.e. Matthews and Wagner with the early entry NBA information gathering without an agent). When things went public, he realized the optics could change on him dramatically. Thus, he speaks to Brad Stevens and gets this quote:
“He’s done an incredible job. No doubt, he’s one of the best coaches at any level in the world. Like anybody else, if he makes the move to the NBA, it’s not about how good a coach he is; it’s about how supported he is.”
Now he can say that the (arguably) current best coach in the world considers him to be one of the best coaches in the world. He could have taken the Detroit job, but he was not going to get the support that Brad Steven got at Boston. That black and white quote will be gold for him with recruiting and can serve as an excellent rebuttal against negative hurting against him regarding the NBA stuff.
