Does anyone know if Jason Kidd got an interview?  Just two days ago it was reported he was a candidate.  I’m curious because he’s not a bad coach.

Beard is simply throwing up tweets as click bait hell he was saying Casey was the leader 24 hrs ago and Beilein around 48 hrs before that...

I think its pretty obvious JB comes back, but I guess ive seen stranger things. Seems like an obvious leverage play on his lifetime contract

Disagree wholeheartedly with anybody who thinks this is a contract issue.

If Beilein walked into Manuel's office three weeks ago and said "I'd like an extension with a raise for both me and my assistants", I would be shocked if the university's answer was no. There was no need for some hardball power negotiation. He is already the 9th highest paid head coach in college basketball. It's not like Michigan wasn't taking care of him.

All of the people regurgitating the same "Back up the Brinks truck" nonsense are implying that Beilein is unhappy and/or has a contentious relationship with the Athletic Department. Neither of which seem remotely true nor in line with Beilein's character.

I like the Dwayne Casey choice, but mostly for selfish reasons.  I think he will be a big upgrade over Stan and we don't lose our leader.

I'm glad they didn't interview or hire Izzo.  That way Coach B. Can continue his dominance over MSU.

The Drew Henson conspiracy theorist in me says that this was a staee plot engineered by gores to disrupt our awesome recruiting momentum. Will be glad when this is over and all will be well in A2.

I think we'll all be able to rest easy in the next week or so when the Pistons settle on someone not named Bielien. We'll be happy and the Pistons can proceed operating in a vacuum.

Anybody else still get taken to the joke 90s site when they type in mgoblog.com?  I can't get to the front page even when I click the banner.

My pet theory:

Coach B was initially flattered and also had some sincere interest.  He also wanted to be conscientious and use this as a learning opportunity (i.e. Matthews and Wagner with the early entry NBA information gathering without an agent).  When things went public, he realized the optics could change on him dramatically.  Thus, he speaks to Brad Stevens and gets this quote:

“He’s done an incredible job. No doubt, he’s one of the best coaches at any level in the world.  Like anybody else, if he makes the move to the NBA, it’s not about how good a coach he is; it’s about how supported he is.”

Now he can say that the (arguably) current best coach in the world considers him to be one of the best coaches in the world. He could have taken the Detroit job, but he was not going to get the support that Brad Steven got at Boston. That black and white quote will be gold for him with recruiting and can serve as an excellent rebuttal against negative hurting against him regarding the NBA stuff.
