Giles Jackson to return to Washington for 2024

Submitted by crg on November 21st, 2023 at 6:56 AM

He will sit out the Apple Cup game this week to preserve his redshirt this season (thimb injury), likely play this coming postseason (does not count against eligibility) and return for next season.

We play them in Seattle next year.

I was struck by this line in the article: “Counting his UW and Michigan totals, he has 73 career catches for 367 yards and 3 touchdowns.” That’s a lot lower than I would have expected for his 5-year career (so far).

I usually hope positive career developments for players who wore the Maize and Blue and then decided to go play elsewhere (exception for Boren obviously). However, Giles and Milton were supposed leaders in 2020 and on their way out showed a lot of disrespect to the program. It is interesting that we were such a tire fire in 2020, and after their departure there was a major culture shift. I'm not blaming 2020 solely on the backs of these 2, but it is interesting that once some disgruntled few left, there was a much stronger cohesion.

I obviously wish health for Giles, but I'm not actively rooting for him to put up good numbers. Similar to Cade and All. Thank you for your time here, but if you slam the door on your way out, don't expect us to look out the window fondly at you.

Oh wow, that's great to hear. I haven't been as sour on Milton as some of the others because I do think he was in over his head. He'll do just fine in life it seems like, and maybe some of that includes some professional football (have you seen some of the QBs starting in the NFL this year? Tommy DeVito?!?!?).

He's like their 6th WR option and a slot receiver at that.  Early in the year he was the KR guy.

Giles is an ok D1 player a specialty KR/slot guy.  Think he left Michigan disgruntled with that role and found out thats his role elsewhere as well.  Will be interesting what his season is like at UW next year after Penix and about 4 WR's move on to the next level.
