I'm still sucking on the peppermint mocha I got at the mall, which was surprisingly empty.

Either everyone is already done shopping or there's about to be a recession. Somerset is always packed this time of year.

In this part of the country... things have been surprisingly tame.  Been told by multiple people online is taking over for in-store.  I went out for black Friday (my Christmas gift to myself was a new rifle and scope for 50% off.  Wifey approved.) for the first time in years and nobody was waiting in line at any of the stores.

I bet you'll see stores staying open 24 hours too between now and Tuesday.

But all my Amazon Prime deliveries have been 1 to 2 days late.  Every single one.

Sierra Mist. Took my older kids to see Star Wars right after school and had a great time. Life is too short to be a Star Wars snob, so no whining about the movie from me, I really enjoyed it. It was a fun way to kick off Christmas break.

Yeah, I don’t really get the snobs. I understand nostalgia about the originals but let’s be honest, Star Wars has never been The Godfather.  It’s a movie franchise that literally has a talking blob of green slime as a meaningful character.  They are what the are, popcorn flicks with shiny glow swords.  I’ve seen the first two of the new trilogy with my oldest son and never leave disappointed.

I was having this conversation with my 15-year-old nephew a few weeks ago. I was explaining how visually amazing it was to sit the theater and get hit immediately with the view of the underside of the Imperial cruiser chasing the rebel ship, or the climactic explosion of the Death Star. It was something we'd never seen before.

His response was respectful but dubious, as if he couldn't quite understand why it was such a big deal. After all, he's grown up on it. Whereas I grew up when color TV was a big deal.

Sometimes that generational gap is really wide.

I do think Star Wars remains quite distinguishable.  It can never be groundbreaking again, such is the nature of breaking ground.  But I do feel like all of the Star Wars movies, prequels and sequels, retain an authentic look/feel/sound that sets them apart in “feels” even if it has settled into predictable and redundant story arcs.

I used to live in Colorado Springs.  Not far from Axe and Oak actually; I restored a turn of the century home in the Ivywild neighborhood where they are at.  That's how I got turned on to it.

I've bought my fair share of booze online usually for stuff which is hard to find locally.  But I don't have a go to website.  I posted that link so you could see that description.

If you do buy a bottle and don't like it, let me know and I'll buy you a bottle of your choice.

My only suggestion is when you purchase online is to either have it shipped to the office or contact UPS or FedEx once you get the tracking number.  That's to arrange for them to hold the package at their shipment center as all online purchases of alcohol require ID and a signature.  If you're not home, it doesn't get delivered.

North Peak Euphoria Milkshake IPA ...just got back from Jolly Pumpkin. That with a JP burger, salad and half my wife’s truffle fries and I’m sated. My son was working the bar so a discount on everything, and coach Hutch was with an entourage at the bar to boot. Nice evening before a cakewalk game at Crisler tomorrow.

Been a banner couple of weeks. I hit my goal of losing 50 pounds before my bday. My wife just landed an awesome new job today. Both her and I are celebrating milestone bdays this month. Who’s got it better than us???

But anyways, I’ll be drinking water tonight.

Started the year doing vegan 3 days a week. Then switched to a very low carb diet for the last 3 months...nothing other than veggies and occasional fruits. Can count the number of cheat meals I’ve taken in that span on two hands. Also been drinking 5-6 liters of water. And have averaged 3.5 miles walking a day.

I'm still battling this flu, probably the same one Brian has. It is well into week 2 with a nagging cough, soar throat and blocked sinus. At least the fever and muscle ache part is over. Plus I had to work and still have to work mid shifts through Christmas.  My beverage Tonight is pineapple juice.on the rocks.
