Friday NCAAFB Afternoon Games Open Thread
The 103rd backyard brawl is happening now on ABC. If your like me and have nothing to do today it could be interesting to check out our possible future DC.
Currently WVU is up 7-0
FA Edit: Combined the two threads. All encompassing title moved to thread with more comment.

Nice unis...fucking terrible on both sides. Brutal!
November 26th, 2010 at 12:38 PM ^
It's like they tried to find random colors and just fling them all together.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
Why do the helmets look too big for the players' heads?
Pitt needs to go back to its classic unis of the Dorsette era.
WVU used to have decent looking unis, but they have since decided to try to become the Oregon of the east coast, with predictably disastrous results.

Pitt better win this game or that SU loss to UConn last week will have cost us a Fiesta Bowl trip... ugh.
And if Michigan would have gone to the Insight Bowl, that would have been a nice trip.

Pam Ward, UGHHHHHH
November 26th, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
November 26th, 2010 at 12:49 PM ^
There's another one?
November 26th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
thats why i thought it was Pam Ward, due to the amazingly horrible quality !
I think somebody needs to write an email to Dave Brandon asking him for no Female announcers or Matt Millen for any future games, as it really pisses off the fanbase !
I wonder if DB can influence the networks on this one !
November 26th, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
Agree about Ward, but Millen's actually fairly good imo.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:57 PM ^
seriously when he lost credibility as a former GM for the Lions. If he hadn't take that job, he would be fine as an announcer, but people can't take him seriously.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
just about anyone rather than getting Joe Theismann. He is outright rotten.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
I agree that Millen is pretty good, except for whenever he says Kovox. Also, whenever he says one of the players is going to be a good pro someday, i feel sorry for that player. He has just received the Matt Millen talent evaluation doom.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:20 PM ^
hahaha completely agree. I can hear him saying Kovox right now.
Also his pro evaluations make me laugh when he talks about WRs because I picture some ridiculous 11 WR formation on the field.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
Looking at your name it brings me back to early spring when we thought we were going to have an amazing secondary in the very near future.....a no fly zone. In hind sight, how funny is that.
If passing yards were frequent flyer miles there are a bunch of QB's we faced this year that could fly around the world. Far cry from our fantasy of a NFZ....Oh, what could have been.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
That's not Pam Ward broadcasting the game.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:39 PM ^
If I can dream I'd like Pit to emerge victorious 8-7 with their only scores coming on four safeties. Uncle Opie is then fired and Casteel and Rich are reunited in Ann Arbor next year to conquer the world.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:48 PM ^
I'm think I'm ready to shitcan the whole 3-3-5 Big East special and replace it with a real Big Ten defense.
Would this WVU team really be able to stand up to Wisconsin? They can't even handle Pitt.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
I do want him. If you're going to run a wacky defensive package you might as well run it with the guy who basically perfected as opposed to some hack who couldn't coach a puppy to take a shit outdoors.
IMO anyways......
November 26th, 2010 at 12:59 PM ^
being batshit crazy and going to war with catapults and crossbows, you at least go with someone who knows how to operate those things.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:19 PM ^
If you are going to war with satellite-coordinated and laser-targeted cyberweapons, you at least go with someone who knows how to operate those things.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
Speaking of WVU, can anyone tell me what's going on with Noel Devine? His numbers this year are pretty piss-poor compared to last.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
so I'm guessing that playcalling is part of it.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
If West Virginia wins, UConn, with head-to-head wins over WVU and Pitt, is in the driver's seat to win the Big East. A win over a BCS bowl-bound team would be a nice thing to put on the resume (no matter how down the BE may be this season).
At the same time, I'm starting to warm to idea of Jeff Casteel as defensive coordinator. Not to get ahead of ourselves with GERG still currently employed, but I just can't see him staying. I like the numbers that Casteel's D have put up and think he would allow us to make the biggest immediate jump in addition to being a solid long-term option. Then again, I'm not as good with defensive Xs and Os, so I'm glad we have a guy like DB helping out with the situation.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:48 PM ^
regardless, women shouldn't be in the booth announcing football !
November 26th, 2010 at 12:49 PM ^
How much for Casteel?
Maybe we can get a frequent buyer's discount?
November 26th, 2010 at 12:53 PM ^
WVU is like our Outlet Mall for coaches.
I hear that today they may be having a Black Friday special on Defensive Coordinators.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
Unbelievable that one of these two teams will likely go to a BCS game.
Pitt looks to be the overall better team. Whoever wins the Big 12 is going to smoke them in the fiesta bowl.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:54 PM ^
Their are Junior Varsity teams with better uniforms then those 2 nike uniforms today
and they play better then any of the Big East football teams too !
November 26th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
and it was better then both WVU and Pitt.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:06 PM ^
It looks cold at every football game on right now.
love it
RAWRCATZ pissing away their division title on ESPN U. If they lose, Miami (NTM) gets into the MAC title game
November 26th, 2010 at 1:12 PM ^
Pitt just keeps shooting itself in the foot with these fumbles.
Pitt: HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL. That is all.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
This is a really ugly game, the uniforms, the field, and the play
November 26th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
...the play-by-play.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:35 PM ^
There should be an ACC-Big East play in for only one BCS slot this year.
Edit: J Baldwin looks very good though.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:19 PM ^
that WVU MLB is about 4-5 yards off the ball, at least on 1st down / running plays. And it looks like they bring the spur/bandit down to the LOS more than we do. And they certainly blitz LBs a hell of a lot more. So yeah we don't look like this. We run what I'm going to call a "passive stack"
November 26th, 2010 at 2:39 PM ^
Do you think GERG is watching at home and taking notes? I assume he's cuddled up with his stuffed beaver and an Etch-A-Sketch, which is clearly his chosen medium for half-time adjustment charting. He can barely get the O-Line down before it's over (you ever try drawing a circle on those things?!).
November 26th, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
Swing and a miss, Nike. Swing and a miss...
What is their obsession with the color "charcoal grey?"
It's like soviet Russia out there.
November 26th, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
Who has the more awful commercial: Pitt or West Virginia?
November 26th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
Kent State's upset of OU probably means good things for my Miami (not that Miami) RedSKINS.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
the foreSKINS now.
November 26th, 2010 at 3:30 PM ^
Miami had one of the biggest turnaround seasons in D-1 football this year. I'm a Michigan fan, and a Miami grad, so I root for both schools (and always Michigan head to head). So shoot me.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
Dang, Rutgers is junk!
November 26th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
put us on the map, and manages to take us off. Now we are better known for that show on MTV.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
Bama and Auburn are on in 5 minutes
November 26th, 2010 at 2:28 PM ^
They just said the Michigan/Illinois game is the #1 game of the year on that CBS special. Let's bump it to #2 tomorrow!
November 26th, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
Hey look, UConn is going to go to a BCS bowl game!
So, uh, a team that only put up ten points on Michigan's defense is going to be in a BCS bowl. Feels...weird, man.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:33 PM ^
RR is going to be back next year. I'm sure of it, and it's what I want.
However, what would be a really interesting storyline is that if DB fired RR this year. Wannstedt gets fired at Pitt for consistently underachieving. RR is looking for a job and they know he was successful in the Big East, and he goes to Pitt. Then the state of West Virginia would really hate him.
November 26th, 2010 at 2:34 PM ^
I want Alabama and Arizona to win ! I want to see Boise St and TCU in the Championship game and shut E Gordan Gee up !
oh how that would stir the pot for a playoff, when 2 Non- AQ schools are in the Title game !
Playoffs !
