I honestly thought "THE Foundation" was a 90s R&B band initially, so Meyer joining that seemed off-kilter for him.

But it makes sense he'd work for this part of OSU. It'll hopefully keep him away from coeds and just deal with money, which seems to be the thing the asshole is good at.

Brilliant move on their part, rotten cheating SOB's.This is similar to FDR appointing Joseph Kennedy to head up the SEC(NTSEC).He said that it took a crook to catch a crook,(paraphrasing of course).

I think it should be in the rules of grammar that you cannot use Urban's name in the same sentence as honest, ethical etc.

Considering this guy's personal track record and career trajectory?

At some point, this is going to end in a spectacular way that will have us all saying, "only Urban could flame out like that".

Just watch ...

Give Urban credit for branching out from bad relationship management, lying to the media, ineffective marriage counseling, and turning a blind eye to criminal behavior.  He's turning over a new leaf to sharpen his skills on embezzlement, mail and wire fraud, and offshore banking.

This guy is like the Terminator. He just won’t go away, doesn’t stop.  He’s the perfect shady bastard to run it. I’m sure he’ll do well, he has the skills.

BTW - it’s named “THE Foundation”.
LOL. It should be THEEE Foundation. They forgot some E’s.  Why not go all in?

On one hand, I am completely shocked.  Seems like "Bad Sports Look of the Year" is a lock for OSU now.

On the other, not surprised in the slightest bit.  Entirely on-brand for them.

If I'm not mistaken, OSU's AD Gene Smith runs the company OSU is using to manage it's NIL program.

This program is a completely different org. They reference themselves as a "fund" to "hopefully" get athletes more involved in charity work. They also repeatedly point out Urban Meyer's recruiting capability. I'm guessing the plan if for him to go on recruiting visits with the coaches to talk about how much money the player needs to sign with OSU and then sends a check from the fund.

So, the AD runs the org connecting student athletes with potential NIL deals and Urban Meyer is the only board member of an org which is basically a fund to pay athletes who may or may not have to do charity work in exchange.

I'm all for letting athletes get paid for their NIL, but this is beyond stupid.

One generally volunteers their time for charity work, being paid to do it makes it a job. For example, we always see the stories of players visiting kids at local hospitals, are they now going to get paid to do so? Kinda takes away from the meaning of the visits, once you realize they are doing it for money and not out of kindness or in the spirit of giving back to the community.

Ohio State is kinda becoming a parody of itself. Not only calling their NIL company "THE" Foundation, but also hiring Urban Meyer? Come on now

It's bizarre, right?  The Urban hire is at least understandable, in that immediately says they are valueless and corrupt but are doing what they think will work for their purpose.  But their weird focus on highlighting "the" every time that article appears before "Ohio State" grammatically suggests only that they emphatically believe this word is necessary to distinguish this particular Ohio State from other Ohio States.  It sounds like they on some level do not understand how language works.

Assuring each University that all things being equal, “Urban has given us his word to do all things by the book, in an ethical and respectful manner!”

What could possibly go wrong with this arrangement? Puts Urban closer to the action in Columbus. Can't imagine how long it will be before he's on staff again. Corruption corrupts absolutely. It's only a matter of time. Big Ten network looking for Urban to be back in their studio again, as well.
