THE Foundation - (OSU NIL) hires Urban Meyer
I'm totally shocked!
And what role will Cayman Nebraska be hired for???
March 17th, 2022 at 10:18 AM ^
Her role isn't specified, but her rate is $500 an hour.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:42 AM ^
....but I am sure you will be underneath him, but who knows maybe on top of him also!
/I will show myself out
March 17th, 2022 at 11:25 AM ^
Being underneath Urbie implies that there's someone actually lower than he is. I don't think that's possible.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
Just call him Urban "the Underminer" Meyer
March 17th, 2022 at 10:00 AM ^
If you take a detached view of this, it's a great move.
Who knows more about various ways to funnel cash to players than Urban?
March 17th, 2022 at 10:42 AM ^
Sweater vest say hi!
March 17th, 2022 at 10:01 AM ^
Gross. Wholly unsurprising.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:08 AM ^
OH BOY! We all know he's going to squeeze all he can out of it.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:45 AM ^
Also, he will be able to spend more time with Shelly and the Grandkids, and cough, cough, his nights out in Nebraska!
Any gif from The Office always gets an upvote! +1

I honestly thought "THE Foundation" was a 90s R&B band initially, so Meyer joining that seemed off-kilter for him.
But it makes sense he'd work for this part of OSU. It'll hopefully keep him away from coeds and just deal with money, which seems to be the thing the asshole is good at.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
I honestly thought "THE Foundation" was a 90s R&B band initially
I also would have accepted 80's eurobeat/synthpop band
March 17th, 2022 at 11:37 AM ^
I would have accepted 70s disco group.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:41 AM ^
After all, Urban is just the buttercup to build their NIL fund up.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:58 AM ^
believe 70s funk is where they're at! The Foundation, starring Patrick Maltese, singing.. "Huggy Bumpers"
March 17th, 2022 at 10:09 AM ^
Brilliant move on their part, rotten cheating SOB's.This is similar to FDR appointing Joseph Kennedy to head up the SEC(NTSEC).He said that it took a crook to catch a crook,(paraphrasing of course).
I think it should be in the rules of grammar that you cannot use Urban's name in the same sentence as honest, ethical etc.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:47 AM ^
Urban Meyer is definitely not honest or ethical.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:10 AM ^
Considering this guy's personal track record and career trajectory?
At some point, this is going to end in a spectacular way that will have us all saying, "only Urban could flame out like that".
Just watch ...
March 17th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
He's in charge of funneling money to recruits. I think he'll be okay...
March 17th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
....and he's partnering with a former player who "aint come here to play school!"
March 17th, 2022 at 10:14 AM ^
so this is what 'no shame' really looks like for an alleged college?
yep. i guess so. self-owned cooler poopers.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:15 AM ^
Motherfucker
March 17th, 2022 at 10:19 AM ^
Give Urban credit for branching out from bad relationship management, lying to the media, ineffective marriage counseling, and turning a blind eye to criminal behavior. He's turning over a new leaf to sharpen his skills on embezzlement, mail and wire fraud, and offshore banking.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:59 AM ^
and offshore banking.
From Cayman Nebraska to the Cayman Islands.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:01 AM ^
You do realize that those "skills" would be highly regarding by either the FBI or the Treasury Department? His next career move after this brief stop? Yeah, that makes sense.
/s
March 17th, 2022 at 10:29 AM ^
This guy is like the Terminator. He just won’t go away, doesn’t stop. He’s the perfect shady bastard to run it. I’m sure he’ll do well, he has the skills.
BTW - it’s named “THE Foundation”.
LOL. It should be THEEE Foundation. They forgot some E’s. Why not go all in?
March 17th, 2022 at 10:42 AM ^
I'm offended by that.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:13 AM ^
Come with me if you want to cheat.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:38 AM ^
First NIL deal has something to do with hot dogs.
....and after that it will be Papa John's
March 17th, 2022 at 10:39 AM ^
On one hand, I am completely shocked. Seems like "Bad Sports Look of the Year" is a lock for OSU now.
On the other, not surprised in the slightest bit. Entirely on-brand for them.
March 17th, 2022 at 10:49 AM ^
No way!!!
March 17th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
No shame...zero
March 17th, 2022 at 11:01 AM ^
If I'm not mistaken, OSU's AD Gene Smith runs the company OSU is using to manage it's NIL program.
This program is a completely different org. They reference themselves as a "fund" to "hopefully" get athletes more involved in charity work. They also repeatedly point out Urban Meyer's recruiting capability. I'm guessing the plan if for him to go on recruiting visits with the coaches to talk about how much money the player needs to sign with OSU and then sends a check from the fund.
So, the AD runs the org connecting student athletes with potential NIL deals and Urban Meyer is the only board member of an org which is basically a fund to pay athletes who may or may not have to do charity work in exchange.
I'm all for letting athletes get paid for their NIL, but this is beyond stupid.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:24 AM ^
My guess is the Urban’s most important role will be greasing up booster on the cash supply side, with a side task of recruiting. He won’t be welcome in all households
One generally volunteers their time for charity work, being paid to do it makes it a job. For example, we always see the stories of players visiting kids at local hospitals, are they now going to get paid to do so? Kinda takes away from the meaning of the visits, once you realize they are doing it for money and not out of kindness or in the spirit of giving back to the community.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:07 AM ^
Ohio State is kinda becoming a parody of itself. Not only calling their NIL company "THE" Foundation, but also hiring Urban Meyer? Come on now
It's bizarre, right? The Urban hire is at least understandable, in that immediately says they are valueless and corrupt but are doing what they think will work for their purpose. But their weird focus on highlighting "the" every time that article appears before "Ohio State" grammatically suggests only that they emphatically believe this word is necessary to distinguish this particular Ohio State from other Ohio States. It sounds like they on some level do not understand how language works.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
"The THE Foundation"?
March 17th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
Only a university like OSU would take the function word "the" for their name.
March 17th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
Assuring each University that all things being equal, “Urban has given us his word to do all things by the book, in an ethical and respectful manner!”

What could possibly go wrong with this arrangement? Puts Urban closer to the action in Columbus. Can't imagine how long it will be before he's on staff again. Corruption corrupts absolutely. It's only a matter of time. Big Ten network looking for Urban to be back in their studio again, as well.
March 17th, 2022 at 12:03 PM ^
I feel like this is a Saturday Night Live skit. It is, isn't it.
March 17th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
This is the kind of stuff that SNL could excel at, if SNL still excelled at anything. The show is extremely dependent on how talented/willing the host is...
March 17th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
I wonder if Gene Smith is worried again that Urban is going to fire him.
March 17th, 2022 at 12:52 PM ^
I'm sure assisting Coach Day with analyzing Michigan film is an unofficial part of his job description.
Guess its all about the brand.
Brooksie with clutch rebound and fouls out Stevens. Wrong thread.
