Why would being a fan of the team mean that you are against the laborers who comprise the team. He is getting paid to not play. Why do you blame that on him and not the executives? If he is scamming, they are stupid to give a scammer guaranteed money. If it is legit injury, he is not at fault. Either way, they can cut him and save money. There is literally no reason to ever side with the team over the player.

Levy is a smart guy and has found a way to cheat the system. Doctors can't find anything wrong with him but he insists that he has brain trauma. If the Lions push him they run a huge risk. The lions need to cut him, as to get rid of his contract as he isn't even helping the team. And for the record I am not a NFL fan, if the lions win or lose I hardly bat an eye.

Why do they have to release a statement any time anyone says anything about St. Joe? If they ignored it the story would die a lot faster.

Fuck PSU and their delusional cultist fanbase.  To hell with their ex-players from that time frame too.  JoePa KNEW and let kids get raped on his watch to win football games.

I hope they all get incurable syphillis and gonorrhea.

"We find the recent statement by DeAndre Levy about Coach Paterno appalling, along with the silence that has accompanied it," a statement from former Penn State players said in the Detroit Free Press. "To joyfully and proudly take credit for hurting a defenseless human being is sad, in and of itself.

"To joyfully and proudly take credit for hurting a defenseless human being is sad, in and of itself."

During Paterno's tenure, Penn State was responsible for hurting many "defenseless human beings", yet I haven't seen any former players standing up for them. Preserving JoePa's reputation is more important.

it was the owners greed.... which led to DeAndre's CTE....  and then the CTE causes him to continue to make these ridiculous statements ....

CTE is real but Levy and the PSU faithful are jokes!

I hope the Lions let him walk after this year.

Go Blue!

Levy seems to be one of those players that wants it both ways.  He won't speak to or answer questions from the media directly but rather finds a columnist to write a piece for him.

He is OK signing a multi year, multi million dollar contract but then wants to point the finger at the owners when it comes to CTE.  Blaming it all on them.

He may want to turn around and look at his own players union.  They seem to be leaving the players and retirees high and dry when it comes to negotiations.

He can go away if you ask me....

I mean if he wanted to take the high road he could've kept that to himself, but it is what it is. Hard for me to blame the guy when he entrusts four years of his life to Paterno, looks up to him and trusts he'll always do right by his players and everyone around him, and then Paterno turns out to be a man who enables a child rapist. I'd feel betrayed too.

Those former alums really ought to just stay out of it. They don't mind coming to Paterno's defense, but the countless kids who's lives are ruined because Paterno enabled Sandusky to do the things that he did, well, they're seemingly nowhere to be found on that front.

Years of JoePa worship have made so many Penn State fans wholly unable to realize JoePa almost certainly knew and chose to look the other way. It's embarassing how quick they come to defend him

Fuck Penn State and their delusional, JoePa worshiping, pedophile enabling, fanbase, administration, students, and alumni.

Didn't this story come out a bit ago?  They're upset now?

His comments were definitely over the top considering he knew they'd be published and stir up drama, but still can't make sense of the former PSU players statement..... What do they mean by "to couple this gleeful statement with a willful ignorance of the facts and circumstances surrounding our coach?" Willful ignorance of facts and circumstances? Get your heads out of your ass guys.... the fact is JoePa enabled a child rapist for years!

Questions for our dear cognitively dissonant, douchebag ex-PSU players  -

1. How much time and attention have each of you given to help innocent children of abuse and pedophilia as opposed to helping rectify the name of your fallen deity JoPa?

2. Do you realize that your narrow-minded drive to preserve the integrity of JoPa and the PSU name is exactly what drove him and others to ignore Sandusky's horrors, and that behavior like this by you, in a small, sick way, actually reincarnates that which caused all of this in the first place?

3. How did that 49-10 beating in Ann Arbor taste in the backs of your throats?

Fuck off.

I've tried to reason with @NittanyFan for years... all it gets is faux indignation and lots of excuses.

Save your breath, the average Penn State student/alum/faculty/administrator/fan doesn't have the emotional intelligence to probably answer #1 and most certainly #2.  If they did, this still wouldn't be a big of a thing in the media and other forums.

... needs to have an intervention.  My instinct tells me their blind defense of what happened there is due to the fact that admitting it would mean they would have to shoulder some responsibility for it or that their memories need to be tarnished. It's as if they are not allowed to say, "I really enjoyed my time at Penn State. I still love my time there. You can't take that away from me. And, yes, I agree that the coach enabled child sexual abuse for dozens of year. It does not make me a bad person for enjoying the time I had when I was there, and not all knowledgable of what was happening."

They really need Robin Williams telling them, "it's not your fault."
