Former University of Michigan offensive lineman Dan Samuelson has decided he will continue his collegiate football playing career at Eastern Michigan University in the fall. Samuelson announced in August 2015, he would be leaving the Michigan football program to play elsewhere and kept his options open, and officially made the decision to reside in Ypsilanti.

He'd have to sit out, because of this rule (he would have participated in practices in 2014):

Two-Year Non-Participation/Minimal Participation Exception

A student-athlete may transfer and play immediately if for a two-year period prior to starting any practice or competition at the new school, the student-athlete did not participate at all in intercollegiate athletics for two years, except for one 14-day period (i.e. a tryout). The two-year period must start after the student-athlete enrolls in college.

You can't see the difference between naming a team the Hurons and naming it the Redskins? Huron Indians lived in the area. Hence the name. So long as there's not a cartoonish/mocking mascot (like the Cleveland Indians have) or racially derogatory name, I don't see the issue.

For the record, EMU's Huron logo was pretty cool looking and uninsulting.

Totally racially insensitive to name a lake after the Native Huron people.  What is the white man inferring?  All injuns should go jump in a lake?  Injun is too stupid to make it across the lake?

Obviously racist white privilege at work here.  My safe zone has been breached.

I remember the news that he was going to transfer, but I had always wondered if I had simply missed the news on where throughout the season. Glad to see he did find a fit and indeed, he didn't have to go all that far to do so. Best of luck to him as he begins a new chapter at Eastern Michigan.

In other news, I was just looking up Denzel Ward. You might remember him as the very, very tall offensive tackle who committed to about fourteen different schools (including Michigan) along the way. Anyway, he ended up signing with Syracuse, redshirted last year, and then took a medical scholarship in the middle of this past season due to a foot injury. So he's now out of football and finishing up his degree at Syracuse.
