Fantasy Football Start/Sit Playoff Edition

Submitted by JamieH on

I have a tough choice at QB for my fantasy playoffs.  I've got to choose between Eli Manning (hot, but going up against the Panthers) and Matt Ryan (stinking it up, but going against the Jags).

Do I go with the hot player in a bad matchup, or the guy who is struggling but playing one of the worst pass D's in the NFL?  My heart tells me never jump off the hot player, my head says never overlook a juicy matchup like the Jags pass D.

Thoughts?  I may just flip a coin.

Feel free to use this thread for other Fantasy Football start/sit decisions for the games that haven't started yet.

for my semifinal. I haven't made up my mind yet. is it the flu? I might be able to sneak a win even without a huge day from Ben, but I'd kick myself if Tom goes off. Will sleep on this and make the game time decision. As for your WR, play Hurns.

Demaryius Thomas, Michael Floyd, Tyler Lockett. Pick 2. My league has return yards too which swings in favor of Lockett a bit more. And I have Russell Wilson so them connecting is doubly good for me. I'm actually thinking of benching Thomas because of how meh he's been and how hot the other two have been. Thoughts?

Would definitely go with Floyd, and honestly with how hot Seattle has been I'd go with Lockett over Thomas regardless of the punt return yards in your league, just take that as a bonus. Denver's passing offense is just not very good and Seattle's been unreal with Wilson the past 4 weeks. Tough to actually bench Thomas but I think it's the right move

Sorry bro I think you're crazy. No way I'm sitting Dey Thomas. Even with his struggles, he's going against a Pitt soft secondary that's been giving up a ton of yards through the air. He will have double digit targets once again and I see him having a big game. Fantasypros.com does a pretty cool thing. They put up a panal of 100+ experts and they choose who they would start in tons of player scenerios. For Thomas and Floyd it's Thomas 90% start Floys 10% For Thomas and Lockett its Thomas 100% Floyd is 88% over Lockett but if you get points for return yards or td's that's probably a lot closer. Id play Thomas all day. Lockett if it's return yards but Id go Floyd if it's return TD's. You can't count on that happening.

I have Cam and the defense starting but worried they won't play or get pulled at half. Any word on that? On the bright side I picked up a certain Shoelace and have put him in the lineup this week.

Jeremy Hill vs CF, Tim Hightower vs Det, Spener Ware vs Baltimore, Demarco Murray vs. Arizona.

Gotta pick 2 out of the 4, I think I'm going with Hill and Hightower but I would love a little more feedback. Also, what are some thoughts on Denver D vs Steelers or Steelers D vs Broncos? I'm leaning Steelers D

I have only very first world fantasy football problems. Started Doug Martin, produced a very frustrating 9.7 points, but luckily my opponent played ivory who shat the bed with 4.2 points.

My remaining options:

Rbs: David Johnson, Eddie Lacy, Denard, Buck Allen

Wrs: ODB, Doug Baldwin, AJ Green, Martavis Bryant

Could play two more Rbs and two wrs or play one of those rbs and three wrs.

I'm currently slated to play David Johnson, Eddie Lacy, ODB, and Doug Baldwin. I really don't think I have any chance at choosing the optimal combo out of those selections, but I'm not too worried that I will fuck up too badly with any choices I make.

I wouldn't sit Thomas. Pitt gives up a ton through the air and not much against the run. Osweiller will have to throw and even with Thomas struggling he is still the guy who will get the targets. I actually think he is going to have a big game. And will be playing the shit out of him in Fanduel because people will be down on him. As far as the other two. Because of the return aspect id probably lean Lockett too but I do like Floyd a lot as well. Good luck!!

Well, do I start Cam Newton today or do I start Russell Wilson?

The Panthers play the worst statistical defense in the NFL and the second worst pass D in the NFL, Newton has been on a whole other level this season and is by far the frontrunner for the MVP. Over the last 4 weeks he has scored a total of 133 points.

The Seahawks play, at home, the hapless Browns. Wilson, and his team, have been on fire over the last 4 weeks (31, 40, 46, 44 points) Statistically the Browns D is 25th in the league and 10th worst in the league against the pass. According to the stats they are actually a little better against the pass but give up 2.7 more points per game than the Giants D.

I would be hard pressed to lose by choosing either one but this game is a very important matchup, I only had 3 losses on the season with 2 of those losses coming against the team I face for my playoff life. If there was ever a time to beat this guy now is the time.

1 pt ppr. Langford, Draughn, Riddick. I start Forte and.Shoelace. Draughn had rough week last week and has tough match up against Cindy and losing work to Cadet in passing downs. Langford in near split with Forte last week and best bet to see end zone on his drives though Carey has been vulturing a bit. Riddick is high floor low ceiling. Really between Langford and draugn to me. Already in a hole.as opponent started Powell last night.

I'm down 20 from last week. PPR. Need to start one of these four: Aiken, Cobb, Lockett, Bolden. I'm kind of leaning Lockett as he's got a massive upside. I don't see Aiken or Cobb going over 15 and I need a big day.

Freeman (@Jax) has cooled down recently and Reed is facing a Buffalo team that seems to have little idea how to stop good TEs.

Freeman seems to have more upside and is at this point my 3rd RB so this is for the FLEX spot.

for anyone that cares I went with Eli at the last minute and ended up winning my game by the skin of my teeth.  Would have lost with Ryan.  Had to survive my opponent having Antonio Brown, which was not fun!

What really won it for me is that my kicker had 4FG and his had none.  If our kickers cancelled each other out, he wins.  So never say that kickers don't matter!!

In my first league semi-finals, I was in deep shit with Roethlisberger, until he went ballistic.  I have to fend off Brees tomorrow night and John Brown now, while I have Larry Fitzgerald now and Kai Forbath tomorrow night.  Weird thing is, I absolutely crushed my opponent twice this year:  I beat her by 137 points (LOL) in week two, and then by 91 points in week 13.  I am up by 48 right now.  Yes, it is kind of a crazy scoring system.

In league #2 semi-finals, I am down by 4 points, but my opponent is done, and I have Golden Tate, Tim Hightower and Kai Forbath left.

League #3:  bye until semi's next week (yeah, stupid we play all 17 weeks).
