The good news is that he got off relatively easy, so no issues with his playing time.  Hopefully this helps set an example for players to not do these things off the field - regardless if it was a drunk stupid buck-nut fan, as they need to realize that someone will always be gunning for them and trying to see how "tough" they are.  On the other hand if he gotten a stiffer sentence maybe that would have sent more of a message.

Don't hit people. It's a good rule, not just because people are "gunning" for players. Hitting people is almost always against the law and makes you look bad. All Lewan had to do was laugh at the guy and walk away. Now, he has a criminal record. Not a good look -even in the NFL.

Lewan should've been the better man and walked away, but I refuse to feel sorry for those OSU fans. If you're an OSU fan stupid enough to walk into a Mjchigan bar after the UM-OSU game and start talking shit, not to mention start talking shit to a guy who likely has at least half a foot and a hundred pounds on you, you deserve whatever you get.

I will refrain from making a comment on the relative punishments passed down on a drunken college bar fight versus some other transgressions we've read about concerning college and professional football player, but I'm happy this issue has been resolved and Lewan can continue on with his career.
