Ex-Wolverine Taylor Lewan gets 12 months of probation
Story in the Detroit News:

The good news is that he got off relatively easy, so no issues with his playing time. Hopefully this helps set an example for players to not do these things off the field - regardless if it was a drunk stupid buck-nut fan, as they need to realize that someone will always be gunning for them and trying to see how "tough" they are. On the other hand if he gotten a stiffer sentence maybe that would have sent more of a message.
Here is the Freep story, if you go that way:

Not sure if the Detnews photo was the final sentencing photo, as the Freep (not proud, but I do go that way sometimes) had the following photo:

That's from his original hearing. He wore a suit today.

As I believe he's gotten a rather large paycheck since the original hearing

Granted, mugshot vs court appearance, but still.

I sure wish he would have stepped up and told the truth.
Taylor always talked up the M man thing, but this was not walking the M talk.

I still remember when all our offensive problems in 2013 were due to Lewan causing chemistry issues.
Good times...

... but I'm sure even the most die-hard buckeye fans would agree the jackass at the receiving end of Lewan's fist deserved a beatdown.

He went to Skeeps hours after his court appearance.
Dude is quite the scholar.

Come on. Lewan may not be an upstanding guy, but you wouldn't want a beer after being in court?

Not when you were just told by the judge that part of your arrangement is you won't drink.
So, of course, the most logical place to go is one of the skeeziest campus bars you can think of. Even if he wasn't drinking, appearances go a long way.

"Not when you were just told by the judge that part of your arrangement is you won't drink."
I don't remember seeing that in there.

Maybe he just likes the food. they do have food there right?

Scholar? Wouldn't he have gone to Rick's then?

I'm not going to talk bad about someone I don't know anything about. Anyways, I hope he turns his life around.

Just curious but if a girl is drunk at a bar do you consider whatever happens to her to be her fault too? I mean they have it coming right.

I will refrain from making a comment on the relative punishments passed down on a drunken college bar fight versus some other transgressions we've read about concerning college and professional football player, but I'm happy this issue has been resolved and Lewan can continue on with his career.

The so called "victim" was the instigator and started the whole fight in the first place so yeah I don't feel sorry for him. The fact that you're comapring this to rape is appaling.
