Because it's the Gator Bowl or because UGA would be as healthy as they were when they were a top 10 team?
Don't forget, WE would be as healthy as we've been since we were a top 15 team.

But I'll take a healthy Gardner and Lewan.
IMO, this game would be very similar to the Capital One Bowl game vs. Tebow and UF. Which was similar to this most recent game vs. OSU in a lot of ways.

Murray, Marshall, and Mitchell are all done for the year. Plus who knows how healthy their other walking wounded will be after a month. Georgia will remain a far from healthy team through their bowl game.
But Gurley man...he scary. Especially after Hyde.
December 3rd, 2013 at 8:23 PM ^
Georgia is simply not that good. This game can be won my Michigan!

Same number of crashes, but now they're vertical.

I've seen the future. It's much like the present, only longer.

Yes, I want to see your time machine... Can I borrow it to rob a bank? I'll give you 10%.

UGA won't be healthy. Murray just had ACL surgery - there's no way he returns in time.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
Did you somehow how forget that both Aaron Murray and Keith Marshall are out for the year?? They will be not close to healthy for their bowl game.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:48 PM ^
I actually like UM's chances in that game.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:45 PM ^
I think that we could have a very good chance against Georgia, especially with a bunch of new formations and (please...) more than a couple plays being run out of the pistol.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:44 PM ^
Might need to reformat a bit.
If it is Georgia, that feels about right. They'll be with Murray, but they are still a good enough team with (some) of their injured players likely coming back.

Now known as the massively dissapointing team bowl?
I'd love the chance to beat an SEC team. Can we beat them? All I remember from watching them early this season was that Gurley is a beast.
EDIT: I think we need a rooting guide for how this weekend could change our outlook.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:50 PM ^
One guy has OSU in the NC game (beating MSU), one doesn't...BOTH have Michigan in the Gator Bowl.
According to this, it looks like no matter what happens in the B1G Championship Game, that is our destination.
All I ask is that we show improvement. I want to have hope in the offseason and feel like young guys are getting better.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:51 PM ^
I would rather see Hyde than Gurley on the other side.
As far as rooting interest, Michigan State and Ohio State going to the BCS bumps us up the ladder. Although it seems like that's a forgone conclusion at this point according to the articles being written this week.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:53 PM ^
and we cant swtop the run sounds like we will be in a lot of trouble
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:49 PM ^
Might want to add "projections" somewhere in the thread title.
The hell with the Gator Bowl. Dump of a stadium, lame city. Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl reps were at The Game and said they were impressed with Michigan. BWW picks before the Gator. I expect a Michigan-texas matchup, and the Blog 404'ing due to a Borges vs GERG game.
Thank God the B1G is changing their bowl lineup next year. I'm really getting sick of the Florida bowls--especially the Citrus & Outback.
I want the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, the Sun Bowl. Stuff like that when Michigan isn't playing in the CFPs or the Rose Bowl.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:51 PM ^
Good call.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:55 PM ^
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:01 PM ^
Yes, I know. Those are some of the games I would like the B1G to try to make deals with.
Instead we get the thrilling New Era Pinstripe Bowl and the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Who have the tradition & history of 3 years.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:12 PM ^
See huge alumni base in NY metro area. Also, New York is always fun, and you don't have to go to the game if you don't like it.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:16 PM ^
I would just rather have bowl tie-ins to more prestigeous bowl games with some history. The Sun Bowl (I believe) is the second oldest bowl game still in existence.
What can I say, I'm just weird like that.
December 3rd, 2013 at 7:35 PM ^
Both the Cotton and Peach bowls are part of the six big bowls starting next year.
December 3rd, 2013 at 8:52 PM ^
nevermind that... you do realize that those bowls are part of the playoff, right?
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:57 PM ^
I'm a little tired of the Florida bowls too, but the Peach Bowl? The Sun Bowl? You really want to go to Atlanta or El Paso over the beach?

With nonstop Buffalo Wild Wings Commercials. It's only fitting.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:54 PM ^
...this would basically be a home game for UGA...AND they play in the stadium every year.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:57 PM ^
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
...I certainly didn't.
December 3rd, 2013 at 5:57 PM ^
Also, this may sound bad, but I rather see Michigan play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. 7-5 should not be rewarded with a game in warm weather.
7-5 should be a bus ride to snowy downtown Detroit. At least it would be a home game. Plus, the pregame pizza party at the Tiger Club in Comerica Park with 10 cent slices that come with a can of pop.
You can have your pizza and eat it to. And when (insert ESPN commentator here) calls the game, right before opening kickoff they can say "this one's for all the pizza".

December 3rd, 2013 at 8:07 PM ^
Deal!
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:11 PM ^
Didn't 6-6 OSU play 6-6 UF in the Gator Bowl?
7-5 in that Bowl isn't unheardof. Weren't we 7-5 last year in Rich Rod's last game?
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:48 PM ^
No son. That was an eternity ago. Long gone, that.
December 4th, 2013 at 12:59 AM ^
I think Michigan at any bowl-eligible record is going to attract a higher profile bowl. They travel well.. even if they're playing in some 2nd tier bowl.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
This would be a great matchup, and I really hope that is the game. I am confident we won't have a repeat performance of our last Gator Bowl appearance.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:14 PM ^
Massey's simulator would give us an estimated 33% chance versus Georgia with a predicted median score of 40-34. Interestingly, the one prediction of OSU-FSU in the Championship game would result in an estimated 17% chance for OSU, complete with a median score of 43-31. In the same simulator, Wisconsin would actually be favored against South Carolina - 59% estimated win probability, median predicted score of 24-21.
December 3rd, 2013 at 6:17 PM ^
Is their simulator able to factor in Georgia's injuries? They're obviously not the same team they were in September.
December 3rd, 2013 at 7:07 PM ^
Mitchell? That score seems awfully high.
December 3rd, 2013 at 8:03 PM ^
I haven't looked at the original theoretical foundation document in a while (this all started back in the late 1990s actually), but it does take into consideration ability to score points and predictive power ratings (strength), so I imagine that this sort of accounts for injuries as the current season progresses albeit not in a comprehensive way perhaps.

It's a great opportunity to play a top SEC team and I know Murray is out for the season. But, I haven't seen them play without Murray yet, so it's hard for me to judge how good of a team they are without him. But, it is somewhat frustrating that we are again playing a once ranked top 10 again that at least on paper everyone believes has more talent than UM. This is a team that was a pre-season #5 with at least one vote for the top team in the country. If we play like we did against OSU we will have a chance, but it will be difficult for UM to defend Gurley if he's healthy. This is a team that played Clemson and Auburn very close and beat LSU and South Carolina.
