Perkis-Size Me

I remember someone put up a sign a few years back at a Michigan-OSU basketball game, want to say it was during the 2012-13 season, and it said the following:

Michigan has Kate Upton.

OSU has Casey Anthony.

You decide.

That was absolutely hilarious and has stuck with me ever since.

I live in Knoxville and it drives me crazy how the pull that we are the SEC! crap.  Every time Alabama wins, or Florida, or Georgia, or LSU it makes it that much harder to convince kids to come to UT.  It in not in their best interest, but somehow they take pride in it.

I have never understood arguing for the conference.  I get wanting the conference to be strong in basketball because it helps your seeding, but after that your rivals winning make it harder for you to either catch them or to stay ahead of them.

As someone who lived in the south for 20 years of my life, the SEC SEC stuff (in my opinion) is more about a regional South vs North thing than a love of conference.  Which I understand.  I roll my eyes a little but I get it.
The times that I’ve called out my SEC friends about it they admit it.

I swear that when I took this position back in 2008 or 2009 when MSU was playing in the NCAAB Championship I was downvoted into oblivion.

“Nah man, it’s all good brah”

No, never.

after a decade of dong punches, I think most people now get it. F everyone - Michigan vs Everybody

You got "scoreboard".  I'll concede that much.

But here's a quote directly from the article you linked:

Illinois closed to 83-81 with 15.5 seconds left on a long 3-pointer by Miller

On the Buckeyes' inbound pass, replays showed Washington clearly stepped out of bounds with the ball.  But a foul was called on Trent Frazier and Washington sank both free throws to make it 85-81.

You might want to consider how fortunate your team really was in those final seconds.

They have a rematch on March 6. Should be verrrry interesting.

I think the reality of both Michigan and OSU is that both teams have overachieved this year based off preseason expectations. I think the difference is Michigan has a lot more playmakers and just a more well balanced team than OSU. I think this will be evident as the season plays out. There is no denying though that OSU is an extremely good team and has figured out whatever flaws they possess.

I'd be perfectly fine if there was a second #16 win over #1 and that #1 team was osu. In fact it would almost make the last 20 years worth it. Almost.

Is it the same Ohio State team that their "fans" didn't care to even talk about a month ago? I'm not sure there's a bigger bandwagon fan base in all of college sports.

I hope Michigan boat races them.

I predict Michigan will roll osu by 15+. They are limited in size and they struggle defensively. Osu will have 8 losses by selection Sunday, but will still be a 2/3 seed based on their number of quad 1 wins.

Fuck OSU and everything that they represent!!! (sports success at all costs; cheating as much as possible, and assigning scapegoats when you get caught; turning a blind eye to sexual assault and any crimes committed by their sports teams; academics being completely unimportant if you play for a revenue-generating sport, a mostly ignorant and rabid fanbase that has nothing else going for them; a campus located in one of the worst shithole cities in the contiguous 48, etc.).

You can rabble all you want about your made up fantasies about the rampant cheating and far inferior academic requirements for OSU athletes (hint, they are the same as they are at Michigan).  But making light of an opioid crisis that is plaguing not only Ohio, but the entire United States, is one of the most insensitive comments I've seen on here.  One day it will affect someone you know, hopefully at that time you take a minute to step back and understand that just because you are an anonymous poster on the internet, it doesn't make you any less of a dick for making these types of comments.

These #1 seed projection updates are always so stupid - they're always just the top 4 teams in the poll. Every week.

Ohio State is making me nervous though. They're playing above their talent level and I'm afraid that Michigan's layoff is going to make them rusty. I hope Michigan comes back strong and beats the ever living shit out of them and cruises to the title.  GO BLUE!
