So much for pregame handshakes. So what is the penalty for blindsiding your opponent with a punch to the face because you lost?
somehow we're only 124th
probably two games
He'll be gone for more than that. He just was suspended in February for disciplinary problems, and this was just ridiculous.
Plus, his backup looked better anyway.
Dont forget he also went after some fans to. I say 3 maybe 4 games.
He also got a swing in on a cop. Not wise.
Two other points:
1) Totally never ever right even if you're taunted to throw a punch, but that was a damn hard punch! If the football career doesn't work out....
2) I suspect this will give the talking heads something to talk about rather than us. This I am grateful for.
I'm just waiting for a headline that insinuates Blount is somehow distantly related to RichRod or something.
I'm not defending him at all even though that was a mean jab, but that other player was talking shit to him. And he got ktfo...wowzerz!
The guy wasn't even looking.
Right or wrong, talking shit is part of football. Punching the opposition in the face is not. The dude needs to learn some self control.
Words are words, punching someone is way out of line.
He tried to go after some Boise State fans, too. Not to mention he pulled a Melo by backing away after throwing the punch.
What a joke.
This guy is toast for awhile. I predict at least a two game suspension, but if it was my player he would be done for the year.
The played from BSU did entice the guy, but still, what a piece of shit. I hope he gets kicked off the team and kicked outta school.
Out of school? Little harsh in my epinion. Get him an anger management counselor though...
to head coaching, Chip.
Thats exactley what I was thinking. His first game and his team gets beaten all over the field, his offence does absolitley nothing, and his star tailback pulls a Carson Butler. How is their fanbase going to handle this?
I bet you richrod is connected to this suckerpunch in some way, I'll leave it to the fine investigative reporters at the free press and annarbor.com to find out exactly how.
Rich Rod was on his shoulder with a pitchfork ordering to punch that player! You can clearly see him standing on that ugly green feather design on Blount's shoulder just moments before the strike.
Looked like he clocked the cop restraining him while heading into the tunnel.
Actually, he probably could for the punch on the field depending on the local prosecutor. It was not part of the game.
That was a pretty insane ending to a decent game. Bad class by the guy who was talking crap but even worse to the guy who hit him.
I'm not saying it's right what he did, but I understand why he did it. Still, it would be hard to believe if he were allowed to stay on the team. The new coach has to take control of this locker room and I think he does that by kicking Blount off the team.
with everything you said. Except "decent game."
was good to see Peterson go right for his player after he said something to Blount. Hopefully he suffers some penalty, too.
Not that I agree with or condone it but his penalty might just be a right to the jaw that left him seeing stars. In all seriousness I dont think he misses game time but I am will to bet he has some extra stairs to run.
who said before the game "we need to give them an ass whoopin"?
I'd say he was pretty serious about that promise.
Yeah he was, at least we know hes a man of his word.
That's why J Leman was taunting him to begin with. Pretty sure Blount hit the cop too. Classy fella
He is also the dude that ran all over Or. St. last yr.
On either part really. Don't trash talk after the game, emotions are high, people are amped up, and acting like a jackass is asking for trouble. At the same time, even if your opponent is "asking for it", DO NOT GIVE IT TO HIM! Be the bigger man, and use that anger to push yourself and get better.
I hope those Boise fans he almost went after were really drunk because there is no way I'd be talking shit to that loose cannon. For some reason I was hoping he'd hit one.
Yeah what he did was stupid, but that one fan looked like a complete ass clown taunting him. I kind of wanted Blount to pop him one.
That dude needs to sit for the rest of the season. First he throws a sucker punch and then goes off on the fans. What a fucking douche bag. I thought for a moment I was watching a Pistons / Pacers game.
A part of me was kind of hoping to see some jackass dump a pop on him a la Pistons/Pacers.
his teammates were? Seeing someone from your team get popd and just sitting there is kind of weak. I understand that the coach is right there, but Id prefer a few guys to protect a teammate.
Blounts will be gone for 3-4 games IMO.
Most Oregon fans seem to be of the opinion that he is gone, off the team.
He's lucky they stopped him from attacking the BSU fans.
Already up (for now), for those who didn't see it.
More than 2 games and switch him to the DL.
thanks for vid
Take a look at the Oregon Scout free board.
Best of the worst. wow is right
The Broncos dude probably deserved the cold cock he received, but Blount...man, if you can't take the trash talk, then just keep your mouth shut in the first place and play football.
And yeah, 2 games. At least.
No man has ever deserved a cold cock ... that is disgusting and frigid.
I'd say that if you can't take the trash talk without acting out violently then don't play the game at all.
The Boise state player was the instigator, no doubt. He even went as far as to touch Blount before the trash-talking. I'm sure most of us have been in or witnessed heated arguments, and when you touch the other person, things tend to get out of control. On the other side, Blount had talked trash before the game, and he got humiliated tonight, both from the individual and team point of view. Maybe Blount deserved to hear some trash talk payback after all. No matter how badly he was provoked, his reaction was shameful.
Considering all what happened, the Boise player deserved to be punched in the face (maybe that teaches him a lesson), and Blount deserves some 3-4 games suspension.
I don't know who negged you, but I can totally relate to this sentiment. Yes, it's way fucked up to hit someone in the face, but (and I might be alone on this one) it's way shittier to entice this behavior, which I think the Boise player was doing. Winning with class is MUCH easier than losing with class. Neg away.
