EDSBS Brady Hoke Spoof
Many of us may have read Maureen Dowd's Op-Ed piece on ingesting too much of a weed-infused candy bar on a recent visit to CO. The folks at EDSBS reimagined Dowd's piece as written by our very own Brady Hoke after his first experience sampling some herb. Mercifully, there's no mention of Kelly Baraka or Mitch McGary in the piece.
The short spoof and the comments are worth a look. As a teaser, here's one observation from the fictional Coach Hoke:
I noticed that if I held it in for a few seconds, I felt even more euphoric, like how Mark Dantonio must feel whenever someone properly identifies where Michigan State is.
it would still be less embarrassing than Hoke's coaching performance
zing!
Damn what a good joke that is/was. Please keep them coming, you're a true jester.
I wish I was joking
you are off to an impressive start. Hit an iceburg and then full speed ahead.
Going to bolivia the hard way. I'm impressed.
NEGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Serious question - what is EDSBS? It is an Ohio State blog? If its a national type website I'd consider this a very bad view of Hoke - why of all coaches would they pick Hoke to look like a moron. It is a very dismissive angle.
EDIT: I see it is part of SBNation but I mean specifically the EDSBS portion
Pretty sure it's Every Day Should Be Saturday. It's been around a while.
I was thinking it was home to the Fulmer Cup as well but I could be wrong and I'm not even sure that is around anymore.
It was the home of the Fulmer Cup, but they don't do it anymore. I think they thought it was getting repetitive and unintersting after doing it for a few seasons.
If anyone cares about the Fulmer Cup, Reddit/CFB is its new home
EDSBS is "Every Day Should Be Saturday," which is the SBNation site for U.Florida, though it's popularity as a general purpose college football humor site means that they tend to cover college football nationaly.
The guy who runs it, Spencer Hall, is friends with Brian. I don't know if that's the source of his pleasure is poking fun at Michigan (he makes fun of all teams, including his beloved Gators, but he seems to like Michigan a little more than the rest of the football hoi polloi), or if it was the other way around.
I think it's meant all in good fun. I get the impression that Hall likes picking on Michigan, in part, because he kind of likes Michigan and it's stuffy fanbase (also, in part, because Michigan can be easy to pick on).
part of his eyes for Michigan might be the beatdown Michigan fans put on everyone each year of their charity fundraiser.
Close, but it's not the SB-Nation Florida site, Florida fans have Alligator Army
EDSBS is just a general College Football site, it just happens that their two prominent writers (Spencer and Ryan) are both Florida alum. They've got a UM fan/grad named Jane Coaston who also writes for the site.
Are they really an SEC blog? I thought they made fun of everyone.
My favorite bit they've done is YOUR BCS TEAM AS A DRUG.
Also, I thought the YouTube video was hilarious. Yes, it makes him look bad, but it's a friggin joke.
They do make fun of everyone. Including themselves. So I wouldn't take any offense to it.
I thought the video was hilarious too. You could cut up stuff from any coach and make it funny in one way or another. I don't think it makes him look bad, it's just funny.
"Then I started to feel a change. Everything became very slow, and very deliberate, like an Illinois-Purdue game played on a field made of oatmeal."
All other things being equal, the oatmeal might be the only thing that gets thrown for over 100 yards in such a contest.
Someone mentioned something about Hall coming to Michigan games - he has written about them on occasion. He actually did a very interesting writeup of the Michigan / Ohio State game in 2012. The perspective that a person who is a fan of neither program on The Game is unique, I think - I think he called the article "Blatant Homerism" for that particular game.
But the article didn't begin with "Well..."
This is the dumbest thing I've read today, and that's quite an accomplishment since I spent 2 minutes on 11W when I was bored at work earlier
What would ever make any Michigan fan visit that site other than to laugh at them?
I was interested in how they would immediately downplay the ability of Ty Isaac, despite the fact that they recruited him just as hard last year.
That's like a dream I had last week. Only it felt like molasses, not oatmeal.
That video is three years old.
