Well that was quick
Only a 3 star?
than one, shoot-the-whole-wad three star upgrade.
Plus, the three star upgrade would raise questions about their compentency. Better to sneak it in to the non-M fans one star at a time.
He got a Harbump.
when Mrs. Harbaugh(s) were preggy?
This happens on every recruiting service any time a player who is rated less than 3* accepts an offer at a traditional power. Every time. They assume (probably correctly) that a school like Michigan has no need to recruit players that are only 2*, and that the coaches have watched more film and spent more time in person and are therefore more likely to make the correct judgment. It's not just Harbaugh and it's not just Michigan. Other than punters and long-snappers, it's seriously hard for a school like Alabama or FSU or OSU or UM to get stuck with even a single 2* player come signing day, even if they sign kids that should be (which probably very rarely happens).
In some cases certain recruiting services go overboard based on the amount of money they get in subscriptions from certain fan bases, e.g. there is at least one site that pretty consistently overrates any kid as soon as they get an offer from ND; not surprisingly, they get a lot of money from ND fans. People don't pay money to get bad news.

STARbaugh'd. n. - the result of having received addiitional recruiting website evaluation stars when you're being recruited by Jim Harbaugh for the University of Michigan football team. adj. description of a high school football player whose recruiting website evaluation improves merely because he is being recruited by Jim Harbaugh for the University of Michigan.
STARbaugh. v. to increase a high school football player's website evaluation rating after discovering that he is being recruited by Jim Harbaugh for the University of Michigan.
I'm going to refer to this as the "Jake Ryan effect."
Remember Ryan was a two star prior to committing to MICH. Then he moved up to three stars. Hence the Jake Ryan Effect.
She thinks Jake is a 5 star stud.
Wouldn't that make it the Michigan Effect?
fullback and long snappers and that is about it
It has more to do with Michigan - where 2 star guys get bumps up to 3 even if they are recruited by Brady Hoke - then with Harbaugh, who recruited 7 2-stars in his '08 class. [Though, if Harbaugh was still coaching Stanford today, that wouldn't happen again either.]
by the time his senior season is done
Those pompous pricks.
Good thing the NCAA is going to shut these things down.
with 3 SEC offers by signing day.
Only 3?
Yeah, but they'll all be by Ole Miss.
please don't send the bagman.

It's a well known fact that stars increase your overall harbaughness.
Not only that, but harbaughness increases your stars.
Yep. He's 1.5 times better already.
Yep Yep - kids go thru amazing growth spurts at these ages. Hearing he gained 3 inches and 30 lbs since the committment.
but I'll keep this a family program.
EVERYTHING!
Crazy the amount of improvement he's made in the short time that he's been around Harbaugh.
I thought this guy was a slam dunk but Johnson only increased 1* in 1 day of Harbaughing. I expected better
"Attaching one's self to a high school 1300 miles away like a dad-jeaned toadstool is by no stretch a "teaching opportunity," as the camps were so designed."

Bless their hearts.
I can't take this article seriously b/c the guy who wrote it looks like he needs a shower and someone to help him move out of his parents basement.
Also, they've never heard of anyone attending college far from home?

No, b/c nobody attends Alabama outside of a 10 mile radius surrounding Tuscaloosa.
Dammit. I read the comments.
I have to make a drive from Michigan to Louisiana and back. My route will now skip Mississippi so I can drive through Alabama. Their tears go great with Po Boys
Would be nice though
the amazing level of self righteious hypocrisy I'm very impressed by the writing in this blog. I've never heard the phrase "dad jeaned toadstool" If anybody has a picture of such a toadstool please share.
He's our 6th best recruit now (out of 10) and I think we jumped from #20 to #17 in the team rankings just like that.
