DT Tommy Schutt visiting Friday? (*No longer visiting, possible commitment?)
Steve Wiltfong- Major changes regarding Top247 DT Tommy Schutt and his recruitment. Could visit Michigan on Friday. 247sports.com/Article/Change… via @247Sports
EDIT:
Steve Wiltfong- Just got word that Tommy Schutt will no longer be visiting Michigan. The staff asked him not to. Things could be developing in AA.
UPDATE:
Reports now that there is no commitment.
I think UM would have had success running a 2-1-8 defense last season.
That number 10 looks so tiny on him!
My thoughts exactly.
and there are SEVEN guys on the line, and 4 of them don't touch anybody
Wow, this kid is really a tremendous athlete. Besides plowing through double and triple teams, I saw him blocking kicks, catching passes and running down qb's.
Lol, so much for my plans tonight. I'm gonne be on this blog every fifteen minutes for the rest of the night waiting for more news.
This is a rather interesting turn of events. I thought we were totally out of it for him.
I was under the impression ND only had room for 1 dlineman this year. With the possible exception of them accepting guy like Jones. With Day committing there yesterday they may no longer want Schutt, which could make him be revising his entire plan. Maybe Day committing to ND was better for us than we thought, because personally, Schutt and Pipkins are the top two DT's on by board. With O'Brien being the number 1 3-Tech left on my board. So personally I see us taking 2 of these 3 guys with a very outside shot at Shittu. But I think the coaching staff is going to end up with 2 "DT's".
I grew up in MIDLAND, MICHIGAN!! YEAAAAAA!!
...so?
born in midland....represent!
born in Saginaw, home of LaMarr Woodley. Get on my level! lol

Yeah I'm from Midland... Why are there so many midlanders all of a sudden? I was in Cancun this past week and some random guy on the street happened to be the dad of one of my old friends from high school.
I heard that ND told Schutt that they were full at his position currently which probably has something to due with Day commiting yesterday.
According to Steve from 247, we could be the team to beat for Schutt very soon.
And won't he be in a position where he will have to commit very quickly if he wants to pick us? If Pipkins commits first not sure how it would all work out ut they are both NT where O'Brien is not.
Well, if nothing else, maybe this will help scoot Pipkins and O'Brien in the right direction.
Just a FWIW, his coaches are pro Big Ten guys too. They like Michigan and the Big Ten teams.
Hey Tom, is Craig Roh's brother looking at Michigan at all? I noticed on your twitter that you went to talk to him last night.
Yeah, he has interest in Michigan. I didn't get to talk to him last night though. I was out there for their practice but it started raining pretty hard and there was lightning right above us so everyone scattered pretty quickly. It's monsoon season here right now.
Thanks to Tom for stopping by to drop some sweet knowledge on us.
I bet he wears a Riddell helmet.
I wonder who would play 1-tech and who would play 3-tech if we took both Pipkins and Schutt?
Wow this is big. Hoke has to be able to get one of these DTs to commit.
If the talk above about ND not having room/out of the picture what other schools are major threats to us?
UF, Wisconsin and PSU were the rest of his top 4
How do you feel about Day potentially taking his spot? Would you rather take both?
I haven't had much of a problem with the way the staff has recruited so I am really not all that concerned. Still think they take 2 Dlineman this cycle though so that has me a little smug
Does that mean you feel good about Jones?
Very good
Have they gone mad? The only way that this is possible is if we have silent commits....right, right???
Or maybe the coaches called O'brien and Hopkins and they're planning on committing. It has to be one of the two because there's no other reason to turn this kid down.
I think you mean "Pipkens" instead of "Hopkins."
I think you mean "Pipkins" instead of "Pipkens"
Touché...
Who is this "Hopkins" you speak of?
6 star ATH, 7-0 400lbs, plays DT/LB/S/CB/RB/WR/K. We could really use him.
eh he can't play TE. he's out
Me reading way too far into things and being overly optimistic is that the news of Schutt visiting caused another recruit to commit. too far? too optimistic?
I think you're right. Just doesn't make any sense to turn this kid away otherwise.
edit: Or this kid is bad news because I'm pretty sure his academics are fine.
Even if they were serious about only taking one DT, I would think things would change for a five star, but maybe (probably) there are other factors playing into this.
Like maybe they would take 2 DTs, but don't want to turn O'Brien away
Ondre Pipkins is a five star, and better than Schutt.
That said, I really hope we take 2 DTs!
but it pains me to think that they may point-blank turn away someone that good at a position of need. like pains me a lot
Is the other DT. M will have two in this class.
This doesn't make sense, you don't tell a 5* recruit not to visit. No matter the circumstances.
