Drevno is Recruiting Viramontes; Did In Home Today

Submitted by alum96 on

I believe with Baxter gone, Drevno probably took over West Coast duties full time (I assume he was doing west coast earlier too) but apparently he went in home with Vicious Vic today.  Some might see that as a sign we want him as a QB but I do think UM does quite a bit of recruiting based on region rather than position (but doesn't hurt to have an OC visit when supposedly the concern was he would not get a shot at QB).  Unless....Viramontes is going full OL!!!

Also related, old friend RichRod offered Viramontes Saturday- and he apparently expanded his top 3 immediately to top 4 to include Arizona.   Will be overnighting with Zona now.  Viramontes would obviously fit that Rich Rod offense pretty neatly as a QB.

Viramontes is headed to #Arizona for his OV. They offered him Saturday. He immediately extended his top 3, to 4, when they offered.

I was informed Michigan OC Tim Drevno just went on an in-home visit to 3* ATH, and former Michigan commit, Vic Viramontes.

I don't know the full story behind the decommit, but that stuff happens. I want him because he's a big, athletic kid who could be extremely versatile. He could be a QB, TE, RB, FB, HB, DE, who knows. He's got lots of athleticism and a killer work ethic. Those kinds of kids always fine their way onto the field.

that makes 2 of us.  he could be great at LB or HB or FB (obviously after some coaching, dedicated reps, etc) given his natural ability and the schemes / potential fit at m.  i think thats where his greatest potential lies.

hes just an enticing prospect though given his versatility and skill set (including his unusual physical QB style / LB play on highlight tape, insane training videos, etc) so ill try to follow his career and root for him to tear it up.wherever he signs.

id be interested to see him try QB under rod, no doubt

I gotta say, seeing him at Zona would be something to watch. He could be very dangerous I'm Rich Rod's O. If he doesn't choose Michigan I hope he chooses Arizona.

The young man came out and stated that he wishes to be a quarterback. Many people on here were excited about him because they were dreaming of Vic playing LB or some other position, but that's not what he wants to do. A good pro style drop back passer is the ideal QB for Harbaugh's offense. Someone like O'Korn or Peters. Therefore, I'm not sure how Vic still fits our team, if he's not interested in playing another position. I hope he goes to a school where he fits the offense and has a better chance to play quarterback. Some people on here want him just because they like him, even though it's probably not in his best interest to come to Michigan.
