Door opens slightly in HaHa's recruitment

Submitted by Maize and Blue… on

It appears that HaHa may not be 100% committed to Saban.  Did the visit and what's happened so far this year give us a chance at landing the top safety prospect in the country?  Here's to continued winning and the recruiting flood gates opening.

Would be an awesome recruit to land for nickname alone, it would allow me to say things like "HaHa, Cox" and giggle in otherwise serious conversations about Michigan football.

Do you think after he tells a joke people say "Haha, very funny"?

Does he know anyone with the initials LOL? Imagine the confusion when they text each other.

Yes, I'm very bored right now.

Maybe Ricardo Miller, Director of Recruiment, is hard at work. I think Ha-Ha is starting to see the oppertunities at Michigan, maybe Dee Hart is also in his ear...

Based on the free snippet ESPN provides it appears that their info comes from the Orlando Sentinel which provides the article for free:  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/recruiting/os-recruiting-clinton-dix-getting-in-state-push,0,1551269.story

Not sure why ESPN would charge for info available free of charge on another website, well I know why they would charge, but not sure why someone would PAY for it.

FWIW, that 15% opening is apparently filled with Florida, FSU and USC interest, no mention of Michigan.

Because ESPN's Joe Schad reports that this is what ESPN does best. ESPN has turned themselves into one big pseudo-linkdump. They do very little actual journalism, and instead serve as a Katamari-Damacy style rolling ball of wax/crap/information stolen/gleaned from other sources.

Anyway, Clinton-Dix would be a great pickup for you guys (HAHA DIX LOL).

He says he's 85% to 'Bama and then lists a few other schools he's interested in (none of which are Michigan) and then specifically says he isn't into going far from home.  All this right after he visited Ann Arbor?  How one takes this as a positive sign for Michigan is beyond me.

He's not coming to AA. Move on.

Dee Hart should tell him to man up and grow a pair, come play in the snow with the big boys (er, tiny dreaded ninjas) for two months out of the year, the rest of the time it's pretty nice. I love Michigan.

Edit: as a sidenote, it would be wicked sweet if by some miracle we did pirate him away from Saban and set off a chain of events coinciding with the "done deal" M vs. Bama game ultimately producing a quasi inter-conference rivalry. On second thought, maybe I just need to go to bed...

an ear of corn.  Very telling.

EDIT:  I was making a feeble joke attempt by adding the "maize" to the "blue" jeans comment above.  But I see I was negged and realized I may have been woefully misunderstood, in which case accept my apologies.  Hadn't even occurred to me it was open to another interpretation.  On the other hand, if it's just for adding to the overuse of "very telling," I deserved it.

"I'm still 'Bama, but the Gators are on a run with me," Clinton-Dix said. "FSU is also throwin' in a few punches at me. I'm liking FSU right now."

He continued, "USC is on me hard and I'm taking a visit soon," Clinton-Dix said. "I just dont know about going that far from home. When I take a trip and see what I think ... I would decommit and go to USC. I just have to see after my official visit."

Doesn't look promising.  Just keep winning.

Are turning.  Does anybody know if he took a visit last week?  Hoping he had his popcorn ready and sat down with Dee to watch the Wolverines.  If so, those boys had to be impressed with the win and the tradition of a Mich-Notre Dame tilt.  They both know they can start next year for Blue.

Having a little difficulty getting exciting about a longshot like this, especially after seeing a couple highly rated guys wash out of the program in the last month or two. Give me Cam Gordon, Marvin Robinson, Ray Vinopal. Those are the young safety prospects I'm excited about right now. I want guys who are all in.

From a completely unbiased perspective, Michigan presents one of the best opportunities for any outstanding LB's or secondary recruits.  Unless a kid has his heart set on one school or conference, we should not strike out here.  Of course, Michigan secondary hating god will have something to say before this is all through, but I think RR and staff has a lot they can sell here, specifically at that position for the immediate future.

This is not a case of going to Marshall or Louisville or Vandy to get immediate playing time.  This is Michigan, the big house, the OSU-Mich rivalry....with a team on the rise.  Really a golden opportunity for any kid who isn't hung up on playing in a warm weather climate.

Lastly, an 8-4 season or better with Denard getting an invite to NY for the heisman presentation will be HUGE for the future of this program.

He's an 18 year old kid, he is taking 2 trips to Michigan, and 2 of his close friends are headed here.  And Michigan for someone reason is a place that these Florida kids are loving.  I wouldn't say get excited, but I don't think it should be ruled out.  I'm willing to bet he is considering us, but it may hinge on FSU and Florida having better defenses.  If they play well on D, along with Bama, and he isn't presented with immediate playing time...

The good thing with all the transfers is that we are getting more available scholarships.  We are constantly in the media with a couple good wins and we are on the national radar, and we may pull in quite a few other big names.

If Dee signs on and pulls hard enough on HaHa to visit again then I think we have a very good shot at him.  Landing a player of his caliber would be paramount in our continued quest to get back on top.
