I have NEVER in 45 years seen a defense in as much disarray as this one under Don Brown the last 2 to 2&1/2 years. The DE have no clue how to contain and keep outside shoulders open not giving up the edges. D lineman playing high and allowing the O line to always be low man (low man wins). Horrific D line stunts with all 4-5 lineman standing up and not in 3 or 4 down stances. Missed tackles galore all over the field.

I was disappointed Mattison didn’t become DC instead of Brown but then Brown became Dr D. Mattison deserved it as an NC winning DC and an NFL DC. Always seemed like an insult. Clearly after he left the Dline, Dline recruiting, and the entire D suffered.

When he doesn't have a significant talent advantage, he's been really bad (PSU 2017, OSU '18, '19). His all-man schtick worked at BC back then, but it's been solved now. He doesn't have the talent now, and he doesn't know anything else to do.

I love it when he overloads one side of the o-line while having his defense vacate the other side which is where the ball gets run to. Team has no fundamentals. Can't tackle. Piss poor.

Don Brown is not the guy on the field. The players are not playing up to their potential. Coaches coach and players execute (or not). Don Brown looked dejected every time his players blew plays. It looks like the coaches lost the locker room. This team needs about 6 to 8 leaders to lead by example and light a fire under their teammates. Even The 5 star db doesn't seem interested in playing with heart.

My skills in offensive and defensive play calling are limited to Madden video games.
However, If I’m able to identify where to easily pass the ball for a 5-10 yard gain pre-snap after the two teams are lined up, that means this defense has issues.
When opponents are then passing to that location identified each time, that is a fundamental flaw.
