When does the countdown end?
November 30th, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
9:00 PM EST
November 30th, 2021 at 5:00 PM ^
Nah, it's 9 PM. 4 hours left on the timer as of this comment
November 30th, 2021 at 4:59 PM ^
At zero.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:10 PM ^
Take my upvote!
November 30th, 2021 at 5:28 PM ^
9 PM tonight
November 30th, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
Eh I doubt it’s relevant to his commitment. He said he’s waiting till signing day
November 30th, 2021 at 5:00 PM ^
The more you get your hopes up, the more this is going to hurt.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:06 PM ^
Get with the program, son. We're banishing BPONE.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
Nothing can hurt me this week!
November 30th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
No fair - we've been following this blog for ages, but Seth tells Domani when the first UFR is releasing!
November 30th, 2021 at 5:09 PM ^
If he is actually going to commit, the sooner after this Saturday the better for us, because it means he is making an emotional decision based on what he saw this weekend.
The truth is, this weekend couldn't really have gone any better outside of the snow. So if he doesn't want to come to Michigan now, he probably was never going to.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:20 PM ^
The problem with your scenario is retention see Xavier Worthy.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
Boy he has to feel like a dope right now going to Texas.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:32 PM ^
Context matters.
2-4 season, missing the last 2 games of the season and talk of the head coach being let go. Plus, the issues with his enrollment.
11-1 season, headed for the BTCCG and possibly CFP. No idea if the same enrollment issue would crop up, but I'd imagine it doesn't.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:39 PM ^
That enrollment business sounded cooked up then and still does.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:53 PM ^
Xavier should jump in the portal...I'm sure Michigan would find him Worthy of joining the team. Sorry!
November 30th, 2021 at 5:12 PM ^
It's probably just an official cutdown. Either a Top 3 or Top 2 (if Donte Williams is out at USC). I am not expecting a commitment tonight
November 30th, 2021 at 5:25 PM ^
Most likely. Honesty, if I were a top-10 recruit I’d wait until signing day too. Your spot is going to be saved, and with the immense amount of coaching turnover that’s going on, might as well wait to see that the coaches you’re committing to (assistant included) will actually be there for at least a year.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:30 PM ^
Just to mess with the fans that follow this religiously, I hope he’s announcing that he’s a silent commit at one of his top 3 schools and will formally announce on signing day
November 30th, 2021 at 5:19 PM ^
CFP rankings?
November 30th, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
Has to be a commitment to Michigan considering the timing, the fact he LOVES all his visits everywhere and wherever he just visited is always his leader, Michigan won, and the environment was electric. Get out of the bpone!
November 30th, 2021 at 5:27 PM ^
Why would he commit when he just said he is waiting till signing day folks. I doubt he is the kind of person that flip flops this erratically.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:27 PM ^
It's USC or Bama. If he isn't committed to us at this point he never will be.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:13 PM ^
That's an objectively dumb comment. He has been committed to USC for nearly the entire season, just decomitted weeks ago, and just wrapped up an OV to Ann Arbor less than 48 hours ago, but now if he has not committed to us, he never will be??? GTFO
November 30th, 2021 at 5:29 PM ^
I'd say it's 1 of 4 possibilities in reverse order of probablity.
4) Nothing - a rouse a red herring
3) USC commitment - recruitment is about relationship and he has none with Riley
2) Bama commitment - Um did all they could but it wasn't enough
1) UM commitment - the team has national relevance, you could never top that environment in Tuscaloosa, steel sharpens steel you get to display your skills on the biggest stage against the best receivers in the country, get coached by one of the best in college and play alongside your good buddy for the team you loved as a kid.
Where are you going?
We'll find out at 9!
November 30th, 2021 at 5:46 PM ^
I think there’s some reshuffling going on SC recruiting Board and I’m sure Riley is trying to find room for “his” recruits could be Prysock got a firm handshake seeing as they have 2 other highly rated cb’s commited and are in hot pursuit of Jackson. A hunch is telling me it’s SC.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:41 PM ^
Occum's razor suggests a good guy committing to the Good Guys. Too soon to recommit to USC or commit to Bama.
November 30th, 2021 at 7:21 PM ^
Never heard of him.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:43 PM ^
Will laugh when this turns out to be a countdown to his favorite Christmas special or something.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
As long as I don’t have to watch another high school Christmas play like with Isaiah Wilson I’m good.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:52 PM ^
For what it’s worth - don’t see Bama fans talking about this anywhere so I say - meh.
November 30th, 2021 at 5:53 PM ^
Probably counting down to a study date with that cute girl he was too nervous to ask out, but finally mustered up the courage and she said yes!
or something.
November 30th, 2021 at 7:25 PM ^
"If he's not confidant enough to ask a cute girl out I don't want him."
-James Franklin, probably
November 30th, 2021 at 6:09 PM ^
What’s crazy so far is all of the recruiting hype for us other than Berry has been for the 2023 cycle. For some reason, I guess I expected some instant 2022 pop off that epic game.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:12 PM ^
Yeah I also thought it was strange there hasn’t been much in the way of recruiting feedback. Much more was put out after maize out/Washington
November 30th, 2021 at 6:16 PM ^
Yea, it's almost like elite recruits are not basing one of the biggest decisions of their lives based on the outcome of 1 out of 1500+ college football games. Weird...
November 30th, 2021 at 6:20 PM ^
They do it all the time. I’m not even saying the elite ones left, there hasn’t been much talk about any 2022 recruits.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:34 PM ^
I think at this point, UM is primarily considering elite recruits to fill in the 2022 class. There are only so many spots left. The reaction has been overall great, and even with all the coaching carousel stuff, The Game has been one of the biggest stories in college football / American sports for the last 4+ days.
To your point, there may be recruits who felt super pumped by the victory and wanted to commit -- unless you're one of the 10 recruits UM is holding a spot for right now, I doubt we would ever know
November 30th, 2021 at 6:39 PM ^
You could be correct. It may have just been more of my euphoria as opposed to theirs. It’ll be interesting to see how the cycle ends for sure.
November 30th, 2021 at 7:40 PM ^
Amorion walker ( wr) notre dame commit.
November 30th, 2021 at 7:11 PM ^
Sauce?
November 30th, 2021 at 7:16 PM ^
So who are those top recruits you speak of? I come up with eight (editted to include Amorion Walker - thanks nine and three
Cornerback
- Domani Jackson
- Austin Ausberry
Offensive Tackle
- Josh Conerly
- Kiyuanta Goodwin
Defensive Tackle
- Deone Walker
Safety
- Zeke Berry
- Keon Sabb
WR
- Amorion Walker
That is 8
Of those, there has been positive chatter about Berry, Sabb and Goodwin and little or ambiguity about everone else. Sabb and Goodwin actually seem to be very positive outcomes from the weekend as it looks like we gave ourselves a much better chance. We were already in good shape with Berry and the other five are largely a mystery which doesn’t give me that high hopes.
November 30th, 2021 at 7:10 PM ^
Oh your that guy.
Starbucks is delicious.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:19 PM ^
Wonder if we can get back in for Jaeden Gould, corner from New Jersey committed to USC? I’m not sure, maybe all of our NJ pipeline dried up after Partridge and Campanille left.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:32 PM ^
Pretty sure Michigan could have had Gould and they took him off their board but I could be misremebering.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:35 PM ^
Nobody on USC boards talking about it.
November 30th, 2021 at 6:53 PM ^
"Could he be committing to the good guys in a few short hours?"
A FEW SHORT HOURS?
HA!!!!
No.
These guys know what they are doing, and it won't be anywhere near "A FEW SHORT HOURS."
Another month or so is more likely, especially with a new USC coach on the way.
November 30th, 2021 at 7:10 PM ^
Think he's gonna go to USC regardless of Donte Williams not being retained. Malachi Nelson just flipped from OU to USC and I have this feeling a whole bunch of guys are gonna commit to USC tonight
November 30th, 2021 at 8:31 PM ^
Same. My lone connection to this recruitment has nothing new to say and it left off with him coming to AA for The Game "10000%" sure he was going to Bama.
From past info and the way things would swing, my pure guess is that UM is running 3rd and a pretty distant 3rd for Jackson now.
Any way you slice it, "It's hard to say no" is a hesitant statement. Nobody says that when sure of something unless already doing it. If not already doing the thing it's hard to say no to you're saying you want to say no but something is making that hard.
Either way, just doesn't feel good for UM. At this point I'd be surprised if it sas UM and I actually think USC is neck-and-neck with Bama at this very moment. Would love to be wrong, have no info at this moment and refuse to ever sub to a recruiting service so I'm purely guessing on past info right now.
That said, I don't think this is a commitment. I think he will wait to Signing Day.
