Did Rapoport finally relent?
Despite not saying anywhere on Twitter that Harbaugh is actually going to Michigan, he did tweet this:
Worth mentioning the stellar work by @FeldyCSN, @Johnubacon, @samwebb77, @GreggHenson and others in Ann Arbor on Jim Harbaugh.

I'll consider it a relentment when he retracts that bullshit "Michigan offering more $ after Harbaugh initially rebuffed the school" report.

I think the Harbaugh graphic needs to be bigger. Big enough to eclipse the sun and plunge Ohio and PA into darkness.

... your official pronouncement of a Rapoport "relentment." Might be better a diary post.
And, for the record, he was right.

Rapoprt will be the last holdout who will never admit defeat. He'll be like that Japanese WWII soldier they found running around an island 40 years later who didn't know that the war was long over and his side lost.

At least Rapaport was a professional when it came to responding on twitter. The same cannot be said for guys like Tim Kawakami and Greg Gabriel.

I had no idea who Michael Weinreb was...so I never clicked on that thread. If it would've said "Grantland's Michael Weinreb" I would've been on my game.
Good thing I didn't create a brand new thread....right MGoBrewMom?

Written just like someone who just showed up to the party.
Came to Michigan by default? Don't even pretend Chicago, Oakland, Miami, and NYJ wouldn't have taken him if they had a shot
Came for the money? No doubt he could've made similar money there
Yada yada

Where is Bagheera? He claimed all along that his sources kept saying Raiders. Jim didn't even want to wait a day to talk to them. He needs a vacation to Bolivia.
December 29th, 2014 at 11:53 AM ^
Baloo? Or Lord Grantham? I am fairly certain he is one and the same. He seems to wear out his welcome rather quickly.

Bagheera/Baloo/Lord Grantham/M-Wolverine isn't the only MGoUser who should have their MGoClubCard revoked for awhile. There were a number of regulars on this board that were adamant that there was no way that Harbaugh was coming to Michigan. Why people would beat that drum with such ardor, I will never understand.
December 29th, 2014 at 12:17 PM ^
Mostly just for being "insufferable" according to Brian. I once got in a little tiff with Lord Grantham where he went way out of line. I easily defended myself and others also piled on him a little. During the heat of the battle I wondered whether the whole thread would have disappeared had the board not self-regulated. Being a mod must suck from time to time.

Lord Grantham/Baloo is the reincarnation of M-Wolverine? They seem like different posters. He seems more argumentative than I remember M-Wolverine being.
December 29th, 2014 at 1:45 PM ^
He had a number of names before Lord Grantham. He was better behaved under that moniker than previously.
December 29th, 2014 at 2:52 PM ^
M-Wolverine didn't make a new account after getting banned.

but his little twitter war with some of our faithful could easily have been avoided altogether. Sportswriters often inform us of the blitheringly obvious idea that most athletes should just avoid social media. He should follow the advice as well (or at least think through what he's saying and to whom).
Of secondary importance.. Are you thinking Quintana in the Tour this year? I came in 5th overall in NBC sports fantasy race last year!

I honestly don't get why people are so angry at these guys. They were reporting what they heard from their perspective; they were slow to get on board and were generally conservative in their reporting. Rapaport and Shefter seemed very professional about it the whole time to me. So what makes people so upset at them, that they were wrong initially? That they were saying things we didn't want to hear? This was a situation where everyone was speculating based on incomplete information from second-hand sources.
I'd much rather have reporters that are conservative with their opinions and wrong, than reporters who are wildly speculating to get clicks by telling fans what they want to hear.
I just don't see anything wrong with what they did, aside from being wrong. which is not a crime.
December 29th, 2014 at 11:50 AM ^
He forgot to add "I should have listened to them." to his tweet.
December 29th, 2014 at 11:58 AM ^
And he also forgot to add "and the shoddy work that @rapsheet (and others) did."
December 29th, 2014 at 11:53 AM ^
I dont care what all these reporters said, the bottom line is they were wrong and Jim is home!!! The local guys killed it and thats all that matters. Guys like Brian, Henson, Balas, etc. etc, nailed it from the get go.
December 29th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
... and the NFL guys were right with what they were hearing.
And Brian had, as usual, the most accurate and entertaining reporting on the process via Searchbits.
Henson turned out to be right; it doesn't mean he couldn't have been wrong. A lot happened in the last 72 hours.

As soon as he gets the memo from the NFL saying Harbaugh has been let go by the 49ers because he is no longer welcome is when he'll admit Harbaugh might be going to college.
Again, he loses nothing being wrong here, outside of people bitching about him on the internet. He's an NFL guy, and NFL guys are going to only pay attention to the league that keeps him employed.

They interviewed Desmond who essentially didn't want to talk about Harbaugh until he was introduced and they've been ranting about "Desmond's doubts" ever since. Even after the contract is disclosed they are still going to be talking about the NFL stealing him after a year to "where he belongs" We know Ann Arbor is where he belongs.http://youtu.be/78TgkgH9pNk

Michigan expects their private plane with Harbaugh and family aboard to land in Ann Arbor. Raiders, Bears, Falcons and Jets negotiating to reroute plane to other cities. More info coming.
