minus the show clause, Pete Carroll is pretty dead on with your description. Kelly did get caught red handed with evidence that is quite damning. The threat of NCAA isn't a big deal, unless they have a thank you note signed by said coach thanking a recruits handler for stearing a top recruit to your program.

Not necessarily.  There has to be a lot of comfort between the head coach and all the management involved in professional football.  It's not like college where he's pretty much in charge of everything; there's a lot more hands in the pot in the professional world.  If he gets the right feeling from an organization, I could see him giving it a try.  The seads of the spread are already in the NFL, and I could see him trying to pioneer it to a new level.

That sounds really promising. Sounds like Miami made the cut because of effort - but they don't seem like they'll be a huge factor, and that coaching changes at Tennessee and Auburn (1 gone, 1 almost gone), would have a significant effect. It appears that Oregon is our biggest competition for Green, but it sounds like we have the edge.

He seems to be pretty easily influenced, which gives me the feeling we may not get him since I don't think we really pressure kids and overly recruit them the way I've heard some do.  But, he seems like he really isn't sure what he's gonna do yet, so it's probably still wide open.  It wouldn't at all surprise me if someone he hasn't even mentioned gets him either.  Anyway, seems like a good kid and great player, so still hope we get him, but I'm not holding my breath.

I just don't see us landing him.  If you look at all of the schools he's considering, UM is the only school that fits his skill set and has a competent coaching staff that will be in place for his entire career, and also has the resources to reach the highest level of college football.  If he hasn't committed yet, he's looking for reasons to not come to UM.

So two of his top five are most likely going to face sanctions, and two are going to lose their head coach.  Sounds good to me!

Gosh, I wish recruiting was predictable and rational.  Unfortunately, as we've seen in the past, it is anything but.  Derrick really hasn't showed his hand on Twitter and I doubt he's going to broach the subject with fans first; those bottom feeding recruiting analysts will chew him to no end and sprinkle some scraps of information to keep us interested, all while telling us nothing.

It make a lot of sense that Michigan would be the best fit for him, but I'd still be very surprised if he does end up in Ann Arbor.  Something just doesn't seem right when he throws a school like Miami back in the mix and is very interested in playing for Derek Dooley (pre-firing) or Gene Chizik.

Hope I'm wrong.

He says he wants to do what is best for him and his family. So if early playing time, strong and caring coaches, and best playing atmosphere in the NCAA. Michigan is the obvious choice! But who knows what a 18 year old kid will do?
