Yes, and if you want to get crazy with speculation, this could suggest that the projected starters are really Henderson at LT and Jones at RT given that Cade started QB for game 1 and JJ game 2 last year.  I am inclined to believe that this really is an open competition however.

Reading the tea leaves, last year Cade started game 1 against CSU then JJ got Hawaii and stayed the starter. Therefore, Barnhart and Hinton are actually the 2s but are being given a shot for their great camp performances. Henderson and Jones will start game 2 and not relinquish it.

I know its a meritocracy and all, but I'll feel bad for Henderson if he forwent the NFL draft to come to Michigan and improve his stock only to ride the pine.

If this rumor turns out to be true, remember this moment.

I will NEVER forget the time that a guy came on the message board to tell us that Purdue’s first play from scrimmage would be a throwback screen to the QB. He was absolutely excoriated here - people demanded his source, and when he refused to name it, they just flamed him. I don’t think he ever posted again. Purdue’s first play was indeed a throwback screen that went for a big gain.

This board is fucking HARSH with semi-anonymous tips, unsourced rumors, or “insider” information. There have been folks over the years who have just made up stories pretending that they know something, so some reticence is definitely warranted. But the default response seems to be “you’re making it up” rather than “I guess we’ll see if you’re full of shit or not.”

I got wind, a couple seasons ago, of exactly one tidbit that ended up being true, and never posted it here. Not worth it.

I’d assume all rumors with a real source are not going to name their source.

Maybe we need a rumor depth rating:

1:  Poster has history of pretending to be an insider

2:  3rd hand from a message board

3:  First hand but can’t name source

4:  Poster has a limited track record of unlikely but accurate predictions

5:  Poster has “relations” with a staff member’s off-spring

From now on you can give yourself a rating. :)

Hinton and Jones are battling at RT. Henderson and Barnhart are battling at LT.

Harbaugh said they would start two different pairs of tackles in each of the first two games, so what this probably means is...

Game one: LT Barnhart, RT Hinton
Game two: LT Henderson, RT Jones

My own personal approach if I were doing this would be to put in the #1 LT with the #2 RT and then the #2 LT with the #1 RT. I wouldn't want to put in both inferior tackles at the same time. That way I could protect my QB/RB as best as possible. I know he's saying all four are starter-quality, but there's probably at least an inkling of an idea of which ones are at the top.

I mean, "technically," sure. Because "technically" means you have to write it on a piece of paper.

I'm going to liken it to ordering at a restaurant. When I go to a restaurant, sometimes I'm torn on what to order. I want to get the steak because I love steak, but I'm thinking about ordering the chicken because it's lower in calories and a little bit cheaper.

Technically, I'm telling the people at dinner that I can't decide which one I want to order.

But we all know I want the steak.
