Day 3 HS All Star Game Practice Reports

Submitted by alum96 on

Today's updates - will keep blurbs shorts and just copy and paste players of interest, but Ron Johnson tearing it up at Semper Fi (finally a potential elite DE in a few years?) and Hudson continues to sound very very interesting as a 2 way player - got a top 5 mention both on the offense AND defense.  If we don't land Fuller for that safety spot I really hope we can get this kid.   Not much talk at the UA practices about anyone other than Walker and Gary today.

Semper Fi

Ron Johnson (Camden, N.J./Camden) was easily the most dominating player on the second day of practice.

The four-star Michigan commitment could not be blocked at the line of scrimmage, firing off the ball and using his raw strength to explode on contact. At 6-foot-4, 230-pounds, Johnson is lean, but on Thursday he showed the upper body strength is already there to throw blockers to the wayside.

Johnson had back-to-back sacks twice, and the future Wolverine delivered several pops on running backs in the backfield as well. Coaches were raving about his performance on Day two, and rightfully so.

Khaleke Hudson: (defense) Hudson would have been higher on this list, but his day on defense was cut short. More on that later. But the uncommitted prospect looked very fluid in coverage Thursday, picking a ball off and shutting down several other plays. The Crystal Ball is split 50/50 between Penn State and West Virginia, and either program would be getting an extremely versatile athlete.

Khaleke Hudson: That's right, Hudson spent time at running back as well Thursday and did very well. He picked up the offense quickly and did very well. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound athlete adjusted quickly to his dual roles, and the coaches called his performance "special." Expect him to spend time on both sides of the ball in the game.

DT Rashan Gary: Another dominating performance from the top target. At one point, he picked up Arizona State OL Cohl Cabral and completely tossed him to the side. He also used his speed to blow by Ole Miss OL commit Greg Little.

Michigan RB commit Kareem Walker had his best day of the week, running more assertive than he did the first two days. Walker made a nice jump cut during the inside run drill to pick up extra yardage. With that being said, Miles Sanders was still the stronger running back of the two players.

By the way 2 crystal ballz today -  including Tom Loy who is usually pretty good - to Texas  for Delance.

Sounds a lot like Bush Jr where both staffs feel they will get the recruit and no one really knows.  Still no prediction from Wiltfong.

Most seem to think mom wants Texas and Delance wants UM.

Great job with this recruiting content...Johnson's and Hudson's scouting reports are making me excited. Also, glad to hear that Walker is becoming more comfortable out there...Was thinking we might need to put him to pasture after he arrived on campus.

The tape I saw on Johnson showed him getting to the QB really fast.  I don't know his speed off the top of my head, but he might have that quickness in bursts????

Also read that he used 'violent hands' to knock away OLineman attempts to block him or something to that effect.

The future is bright for our Dline.

Too bad that they don't allow "committed" recruits to wear the helmet of their school. Kind of like the pro bowl. Think it would be cool for the kids to be excited about their school

For perspective Little is the #2 overall recruit in the country ( just committed to Ole Miss)

Also saw 247 tweet their all time composite rank list 2000-2016; Rashan Gary is #2 overall in the 16 years.

#1? Clowney.

(Peppers was 16th overall, Fournette 13th, A.P. 15th, Nkemdiche 3rd, Vince Young 5th)

Not sure why my post was deleted on the other page but Rivals said Brad Hawkins wants to visit North Carolina and South Carolina he said he had to talk to Harbaugh 1st.  Plus Sam Webb said Ron Johnson and Hawkins are not going to enroll early anymore.  I didn't think they were enrolling early but i hope this is nothing more then just wanting to see other schools.

I Spent all day at the practice today. The weather was great and I spent time with some of the players today and a few parents

Gary - looked great his first step was awesome. He and little went at it 4 times today with Gary getting 1-2 times and the other times they were a draw. They had him inside and outside all day in 1 on 1 drills.

Walker - he's bigger then u think. I talked w him for like 2 minutes and he's saying we should be happy w the final class.

Bredeson - He looked real good all week so far, he stoned Gary and Agim on a couple plays. He was almost exclusively at right tackle.

Talked with the dad of Landon Rice the TE commit to Auburn and he said they would of went Blue if his other son wasn't at Auburn already. He said they loved Harbaugh and that was there #1 choice but its to far. RICE is a BEAST at TE and he was going at it all day w the Alabama LB recruit. They got into a fight at one time during practice.

Jones - LB heard he may be seriously considering Michigan again as he wants to play w Hatbaugh but right now ND leads.

Spent some time with Andrew from Rivals the ND beat writer and he said the feeling nation wide is that there are tons of kids that want to play for Harbaugh and that he truly is the rockstar recruiter and they expect Michigan to win a championship very soon.

Herm Edwards - he was ripping the team at the beginning of practice about Boykins and what happened.

Plaxico - looks good and spent about 10 minutes BS'ing with him about college. Dude was rocked up and could play today.

I have lots of photos from today if anyone wants to post them up. I just can't do it for some reason. Post a email and I will email them over.

I'm at the hotel w the team as there bowling right now and the Highlight side looks a lot more dominant IMO.
