Before the dawn
The longest night is slipping by
Two transition's pain endured
Quietly waiting in this dark
For the day to be unfurled
The mismatched pieces to the set
Are back inside the box
The mad wizard and his schemes
Are dashed upon the rocks
An anxious hope begins to rise
Our minds peppered with the thought
Of returning in the land
That the woods on hand have brought
And the blocks shall fall in place
For yesterday was spread too thin
There is power inside this zone
That no head set down will dim
So now stand before the dawn
As the sunlight dries the dew
Our darkest hour falls behind
The black of night gives way to Blue

Can't wait. Remember, young Wolverines, that is not just any Hall-of-Famer up there in the broadcast booth. Let him hear football.

Also well played. Texagander, as one whose verses have been cursed and banned on this Board, I salute you. I'd say that your poem is EPIC, but that'd be another story (and another round of allegations of "Word Crimes.") Excellent work!

I was so caught up in the poetry, the image of the despairing fan who lowers his head into his hands. But no, we true fans will continue to see the light, no matter how many heads are lowered in premature defeat.
So it was clever too. Gosh golly.

Our minds peppered with the thought
Of returning in the land
That the woods on hand have brought
Not to be overlooked: the parallel between "pepper" and "woods on". I think that pretty much settles it.

Now, these are the moments that make MGoBlog stand out among sports blogs. Well done indeed, sir. This one may need to get either bumped back to the top at some point or otherwise enshrined somehow. I would expect no less from this fanbase on a night so brimming with anticipation for all of us.

Random thought: when are we finding out our other major non conference opponent?
August 29th, 2014 at 11:26 PM ^
I don't want to create another thread just for the article, but here is my preview for tomorrow's game. It contains things to watch for as we kickoff the season as well as my prediction. If you like it, spread it around. If not, I apologize for wasting however much time it took to read this comment. Go Blue!

This was excellent! So many subtle hidden messages while everything you said still made sense. Really got me more excited for tomorrow; well, if that was possible.

Thanks! We'll see if I can keep up with that. I first read it to my wife and she laughed when I had to explain it was about football. Glad you guys appreciate it.

Can't wait for kick off! On a date at Starbucks with the wife before I spend the rest of the day with the TV.
