This must mean that the "Jim Hackett hired 2 years ago" thread is just around the corner! Hackett coming along was so important for our program. If there's a metric for "deserving of a statue" divided by "time spent earning that statue", then surely he is close to the top.

How far this program has come in 2 years.

I'd call you a big fat liar if you would have told me then that in 2 years we'd be complaining that we let Sparty go full Joe Tiller on us late in the 4th quarter in EL and that we were the #2 team in the country.

This is one of those cases where truth is stranger than fiction.  We had 10,000 people sign a petition to remove our athletic director!  No one could make that up.

And he may have survived if his biggest backer, Mary Sue Coleman, hadn't decided to retire a few months earlier.  Our brand new University President inherited the Brandon disaster, and acted quickly and decisively.

So many things had to fall in place for Jim to come here - and they did!

WD, we all owe you one for being part of that straw that broke the camel's back with the e-mails.  The Brand-man probably still gets the boot without that, but most likely not until the spring, which almost certainly would have meant whiffing on Harbaugh yet again.  Hope you enjoy today's anniversary!

I agree that the guy was kind of a dipshit, but I think "hoping the worst" in life for him is a bit extreme. It's not like he went out on some violent killing spree or assaulted a bunch of women and children.

I don't care for him, and I hope he never touches anything related to Michigan athletics again for as long as he lives. But he was just a really crappy athletic director. I'd never put him in the same league as Sandusky or any one of the numerous Baylor football players getting away with rape. People who I personally would say "I hope for the worst in life" for them. Maybe you didn't mean it that way, but that's how I read it.

This is indeed a wonderful day in UM athletics history.

As Grave dancing on Halloween is definitely encouraged, I plan on being an enthusiastic participant!
