Darnay Holmes trending to USC

Submitted by jbibiza on

Looked like he was a Buckeye lock but now trending heavily to the Trojans... including Balz from Wiltfong.

Now hopefully the Longhorns steal Okudah, Wyatt Davis decides to go to USC, Tate Martell decides to take up interpretive ballet, and Baron Browning goes straight to the pros.

Good. I'd rather he go to USC than OSU. USC is going to be really good next season. Darnold is absolutely legit.

Would help beef up that side of the conference and improve the overall conference strengtj.  With the way B1G scheduling goes, we could face USC more than Nebraska the next 4 years.

that's at triple whammy

To OSU, To Nebraska, and To UCLA

Those three have major douche fan bases. (especially Neb and OSU, but if you ever stumble onto a Bruins blog, holy shit... they are batshit fucking crazy)

Nebraska fans are alright. The most odd thing I've found is that they seem to be completely baffled as to why 4/5 star recruits aren't knocking down the door to play for them. I've tried explaining that nationally Nebraska is now an afterthought in the college football world but they can't seem to grasp that reality for their precious Huskers.

Agreed. I'm in the heart of  Huskerland and I don't think they'll ever be nationally relevant outside a few blips on the radar here and there from now on. All of the advantages that made them what they were in the 90's are gone now and they don't have enough talent within even a 500 mile radius to field a team that could even hope to make the playoff. Unless they somehow land a coach who is a crack recruiter and tactician, best they can hope for is maybe challenging for the division a couple times per decade. Riley hasn't demonstrated to be either of those at this point.

Nebraska is far from any real recruiting hub and have removed themselves from serious contention in Texas by no longer playing in Texas at least twice a year. They're left to struggle for guys from hundreds of miles away from them.

They'd need a real personality like a Harbaugh or Meyer or Saban to recruit at a top 5-10 level there but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon so they'll keep getting mostly 3* guys with some 4*s thrown in

Maybe you've been spared the shit they spew about us whenever our name comes up or our coach's name comes up. They hate our fuckin' guts. They also constantly rip on Michigan and claim that they would have crushed us in '97.

So, s'far as I'm concerned, fuck Nebraska. (Also, in case you feel like negging this, consider this: they high-fived when Denard got hurt.)

But mainly because I want us to finish with the best class in recruiting history (Per 247). Him not committing could put a dent in that.

That said, if he doesn't committ, we very well could be swapping him out for Kendall Sheffield, who is a former 5-star recruit for Alabama and is the top Juco player in the country.

If I could only choose one, I would probably want Sheffield since he would likely be able to start from day one.

But I often like to get away from them every once in awhile. Sometimes they just become a giant echo chamber of the same shit. I comment on OSU related topics here because frankly, I'm probably a better source of information for OSU related things.  I'm not sure why anyone would be upset that someone is commenting on topic that they have likely more knowledge on than most on this board.

Wow! USC! When he was thought of as a UCLA lock for so long? Man, that would just prove the hold that USC has over Southern California. God, how frustrating.
