I can not think of any NIL deals Nike has signed with anyone other than Reilyn Turner, the soccer player from UCLA. Nike itself has their brand on most high-profile players already. The ultimate small print in the Michigan NIL laws leaves it up in the air if the University can reject deals from competitors.

What Phil Knight and other high-profile Oregon Boosters did is create a NIL company for Oregon players, and one has to assume recruits as well. This was done without the University being involved.  Which also is the same game plan the SEC and Ohio State have been using for years.

Our boosters and fan base need to get organized because the sentiment I see is that the University needs to arrange this.  Well, that's not happening everywhere else, and we are getting left way behind.

Insults usually reflect close-minded people unwilling or unable to have civilized conversations. Your use of the word stupid is an effort to discredit my opinion and boost your own. My opinion is based on all available information I could find. Yours is based on insults and "of course, this is what happened."

I, however, am willing to learn and evolve my opinions when presented with new information. If you have anything available that I missed, please share it. I wholeheartedly hope you have a great day and appreciate you taking the time to participate in the conversation.

Dante Moore has Emoni Bates vibes where our fan base resents him because he’s a local kid who should go to Michigan and he’s most likely going to spurn us.

edit: we’re making excuses pre-emptively. Kid doesn’t have character issues.

You don't?

I suspect Notre Dame students care about most of South Bend as much as Michigan students care about what's at the intersection of Miller and Maple in Ann Arbor. That is, not much.

ND has a nice campus. If you go there for football you'll play in at least a few high-profile games. It's very good academically and the alum network is strong, too. If you don't walk far from campus you won't know you're in a Rust Belt shithole.

I'd still choose Michigan over ND, but I can understand why someone would want to go there. I didn't even touch on the RC angle.

I don't know how it's possible, but I actually dislike Kelly more now that he's at LSU. So this would just suck if it actually happened.

Eh - I already dislike his replacement more simply due to them swooping in on SO many of our shared recruits.

And I dislike their ability to better utilize NIL, whereas LSU has been paying players for years so not shocked they get their share of the blue-chips.

I'd swear I read a headline this morning that he had just visited Oregon and loved it.

So maybe too early for a commitment but M looking like they're behind.

I mean, I’m glad that I now know that he has offers from Morgan State, EKU and Florida A&M! Tough competition you guys are going against! Don’t worry about those LSU and Norte Dame teams whoever they are. (Poking fun at the absurdity of that IG post, not at your guys’ football program.)

"Which fanbase can show the most love?"

LOL, he's straight up shopping himself for the best NIL offers.

The downside of this is that Michigan will fall by the wayside for Moore and recruits like him. The upside going forward is that we won't have to listen to top recruits mouth the empty platitudes about "academics are very important to me"—it's openly about the money now.

The nature of the institutions they commit to—including the education—is completely irrelevant; with the transfer portal, they're out the door if/when they get a better offer from someplace else.

I love this idea that somehow nd flipped a a switch and has amazing NIL 5 months after Kelly left. The much simpler answer is that the elite recruiter Marcus freeman is a really good recruiter and the reason Michigan is struggling to get over the hump to elite is because harbaugh is a mediocre recruiter who’d rather be in the nfl right now.

Based on his IG post, I don't get the feeling that he's a lock to ND.

I agree that from a recruiting standpoint Harbaugh shot himself in the foot with respect to the 2023-4 classes, but calling him a "mediocre" recruiter is a bit silly. He also had to replace both his coordinators, and that hasn't helped him.

No argument from me that Freeman seems to be an excellent recruiter so far, but one advantage he has is that from a head coaching standpoint he's a blank slate. Let's see how things play out over the next two seasons.

ND has plenty of successful, wealthy alumni and program supporters and I'd be surprised if they're as hesitant to start up strong NIL networks as Michigan people appear to be at the moment.

At least he didn't pick a school (outside of him picking Michigan which would be great) so it give Michigan more time (if it helps) to lure him.  I am a bit surprised that Moore has not given his verbal yet, big time qbs have had a tendency to announce so that their name can lure more talent to the class...just look at JJ and his recruiting guys to Michigan.

Not going to lie, I was hoping that he was going to announce that he would be making an announcement, at which time he might commit to a commitment or at least announce that he was committed to annoucning a commitment.
