Current Wolverines in the NBA
Here is a basic statistical update on the current Wolverines in the NBA (specifically those who played under John Beilein).
Min | Pts | Reb | Ast | Stl | |
Burke | 12.2 | 4.77 | 0.72 | 1.54 | 0.21 |
Hardaway | 22.8 | 11.88 | 2.12 | 1.79 | 0.64 |
LeVert | 18.5 | 6.91 | 2.52 | 1.87 | 0.87 |
Robinson | 22.7 | 6.0 | 3.73 | 0.78 | 0.49 |
Stauskas | 26.2 | 8.43 | 2.62 | 2.0 | 0.45 |
On 1/20/17, Caris was literally perfect from the floor. 6-6 from the field, 3-3 from three, and 2-2 from the line for 17 points with an additional 6 assists.
I'm not sure how to embed in the OP so I will post Caris' highlihts and Nik's most recent dunk from the 76ers game last night vs the Hawks below.

Burke: 4.77 ppg, not 4.8! I love it. Our society needs more significant figures.
Non snark: Stauskas is trending upward. Glad to see him elevate his game this year.
Final question: Is Jamal Crawford still pounding the rock for someone?

Still with the Clippers

Might as well include ALL of the Wolverines since Crawford is the only other one at this point....and the most successful.
Sad that McGary wasn't able to stay healthy and out of trouble.
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:57 AM ^
It is still a shame that he was only here in Ann Arbor for what seems like an instant - a few years of Jamal Crawford would have been fun, but what we did get to see was still very entertaining.
First three-time winner of the Sixth Man Award and I also believe he currently hold the record for the most four-point plays in the NBA. I think he's also in the top 10 for made threes too. I would call that successful.

to see Caris! Live!
A friend belongs to one of those secret societies that offer unsold seats, usually for theater, but he's recently gotten [excellent] Islanders seats and invited me to the next one. (They're in Brooklyn temporarily, with most of their fans out on Long Island.) I told him if he got them for a game playing against Michigan alumni, I'd join him.
Lo and behold, they suddenly offered Nets tix. I had previous plans for tomorrow night, but this trumps that.
\no politics

Stub isnt secret and isnt a society and it definitely isnt a secret society

Was joking about the secret society, but it's not that well known outside of NYC. These aren't re-sales but almost-comp tix that are offered to members of TheaterMania's Gold Club, with last-minute tix provided by producers of events that aren't sold out and not likely to become sold out, preferring to have bodies in the seats and hoping the viewers will spread the word. [But they probably don't want too much spreading of the word for specific events.]
You never know what's going to be offered. Think it started for theater, often for new shows or shows on their last legs, or off the beaten track, but they have other offers, including museum admissions and tourist events. Members pay an annual membership fee, get e-mail notices of tix available (which go quickly) and pay a small per-ticket fee when purchased. I'm lucky to have a buddy who keeps checking.

All the way to Barclays Center in the noreaster, and they do an intro highlighting a couple of players, then close by saying, "Caris LeVert won't play tonight. They want to rest him."

Who would have thought from the championship game team that Burke would be playing the least on a per minute basis

My thought as well.

LeVert is going to be a steal. It's amazing how many big-time dunks Stauskas has. He started the year hot but has been slumping. Can't believe McGary hasn't had another chance yet given the amount of worse knuckleheads in the league.

To be clear, Stauskas has been slumping from a SHOOTING perspective. However, he is handling the ball better, making good passes, and making hustle plays.
He's definitely proving himself worthy of a roster spot.

I really hope that Mitch can get his life and BB career together. Hate to see such potential talent go down the drain.
If possible, please refrain from the "wasted" and "up in smoke" replies as he is one of our own and needs our support, not our ridicule IMHO.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:12 PM ^
I can't believe he burned out so quickly. Really thought he had a budding career.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:17 PM ^
I lol'ed.
McGary is certainly one of us and beloved. However, puns are funny. Plain and simple.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:23 PM ^
Seems like he was weeded out from the NBA
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:27 PM ^
I'm not quite as high on him.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:52 PM ^
If he comes back and finishes his degree. There is life after basketball.

Come on man you had to know what specifically asking the board not to do what result in.
You basically just forebode your daughter from seeing her boyfriend. We all know how that works out.
January 23rd, 2017 at 4:09 AM ^
forebode does not mean what you think it does. Either that or autocorrect fail.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:09 PM ^
Thanks for sharing!
I like to check in once a while to see how they are all doing and didn't realize Stauskas had been getting that much PT.
Hope these guys keep earning more minutes and maybe McGary just wants to get his amatuer status back and come play for the maize and blue again!
No? Well, a man can dream.

I thought that McGary would shine in the NBA and that THJ would struggle. I guess I shouldn't start appling for NBA front office jobs.

Mitch wasn't strong enough in his own head. Too bad.

You omit Crawford and thus lose all credibility. He should make the HOF. These fellows are likely all journeymen except Hardaway.

Wilbur did throw an amazing 98 yard pick six but that's no 7 pick game!! Brown was 2-0 in bowls including Rose Bowl. Beat Ohio state in Columbus.

Do it Caris. Kid will be all star soon.

Caris's big night was the first time somebody went for 15-5-5 shooting 100% from the field since Sir Charles did it...some time ago

I hope Caris can stay healthy. He could have an excellent career & seems to be a very likable guy.

LeVert has looked pretty good so far early in his career. Missed the start of the season to injury but has been one of the few bright spots for the Nets this season. He looks like he could be at the start of a nice NBA career.
Hardaway is also doing a great job rebuilding his NBA stock going into his free agency year. He had a good rookie year, very inefficient sophomore year and spent time in the D-League last year. Now he's averaging a career high in points on a career best shooting percentage, averaging a career high in assists and close to it in rebounds. The fans in Atlanta love him and really want him re-signed. His role has grown significantly recently, especially with the Korver trade, and is currently in his best career month in his NBA career. If he finishes the year strong he'll get a good contract for himself this off-season.
GR3 is probably in the next best spot. His numbers don't look great, but ever since November 18th he's only played less than 10 minutes in a game once and since December 12th, only played less than 20 twice and never less than 15. He's not shooting it great but he does a lot of the little things, is carving out a nice role for himself on a solid Pacers team, and is still only 23.
Stauskas is also having his best year statistically so far, but overall he's still pretty below average. He has been playing better recently and is doing some things that don't show in the stat sheet, but if th Sixers are one of the few times that he would actually play on. If he can continue to improve he'll probably get another contract after next year but he still has a long ways to go.
Burke is in the biggest danger of washing out at this point. Disappointing and surprising considering his Michigan career, but he's in trouble. He's an undersized point guard playing the fewest minutes per game in his NBA career right now. Minus a 27 point exploision against the Nets, he hasn't really done anything of note this year and doesn't play more than mop up minutes.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:18 PM ^
Thanks for doing this. Out of curiosity, why do you have two decimal places for the stats?
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
If Caris stays healthy he, the last 2 years would have looked a lot different. I have only seen 1 player dominate a road game for Michigan like Levert dominated that Illinois game last year, and that guy is Jamal Crawford. I think Caris has a bright future.
