Sherrone Moore for Heisman
December 8th, 2023 at 10:27 PM ^
The top 4 should be
1. Jayden Daniels
2. Michael Penix
3. Marvin Harrison Jr
4. Caleb Williams
Caleb is the only questionable one to me given his performance this year but hype is more important than performance these days. Corum and JJ should be right after that top group IMO.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:29 PM ^
Jayden Daniels should not win the Heisman. If your team loses that much in my opinion you're out. He put up great stats because every game was a shootout. Michael Penix rose to the occasion every time his team needed him to win. He should get it.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:33 PM ^
Everyone deserves to remember the heisman being taken by Penix.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:46 PM ^
Indiana player (kinda) wins the Heisman!
December 8th, 2023 at 11:10 PM ^
You mean “broken by,” right?
He should win just for the awful, salacious, pun-driven commentary it would inspire. Sportswriting has been without a Penix for a long time.
December 9th, 2023 at 8:45 AM ^
My Heisman vote for Penix is firm.
December 9th, 2023 at 8:45 AM ^
So you're saying Jayden Daniels should have played better defense?
December 9th, 2023 at 8:57 AM ^
But they were shootouts because he's pretty good.
December 9th, 2023 at 10:47 AM ^
Heisman is “most outstanding player”, not “MVP of the best team”. Jayden Daniels doesn’t play defense and it’s not his fault that side of his team is mediocre. The side of the ball he plays is fantastic, largely because of his talent.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:56 AM ^
Paul Hornung would have a word with you.
December 9th, 2023 at 1:16 PM ^
Since when do wins and losses matter in the best player in college football? Do you not think Barry Sanders should have won it when Oklahoma State went 10-2 but lost to OU and Nebraska? Or Johnny Football? Or RGIII?
December 8th, 2023 at 10:42 PM ^
Penix is the cream of the crop
December 9th, 2023 at 9:19 AM ^
Didn’t Penix say in a recent interview that he especially enjoyed facing the Beavers? IIRC, he cited “one on one” matchups and unique challenges each one posed. Upon reflection, he relished those engagements and eagerly anticipated the next meeting.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:11 PM ^
lol how is Bo Nix not top 4, but Caleb Williams is.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:37 PM ^
It happens to people named Bo. Look what happened to Bo Callahan
December 9th, 2023 at 8:21 AM ^
And Bo Jackson.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:50 AM ^
You mean about nobody coming to his birthday party?
December 8th, 2023 at 11:43 PM ^
The minimum number of team wins for a Heisman is 9. After that, I don't really care. I don't make the rules except when I do.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:32 AM ^
I don't think Caleb Williams is even in top 10 this year
December 9th, 2023 at 1:41 AM ^
He’s not. Bo Nix is a finalist this year.
December 9th, 2023 at 5:11 PM ^
Definitely. Caleb Williams was fine, but nix really lit it up for Oregon this year.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:31 PM ^
Blake and JJ should combine their votes and split the trophy.
December 9th, 2023 at 4:38 AM ^
Appropo since they are team 1st guys.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:33 PM ^
Milroe at 6.... wow. Assuming Daniels. Nix, Penix...
Meaning Travis and Caleb Williams above him is a travesty.
EDIT: Forgot MHJ. But still.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:02 PM ^
I don't value Millroe at 6, so I'm even more surprised he's at 6.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:36 PM ^
35 total TDs as the QB of a "playoff" team is a good resume. Not a winner, especially this year, but better than Williams. I guess ESPN doesn't run the Comittee like they do the CFP.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:48 PM ^
If Millroe is really the 6th best player in college football I feel even better about our chances because that means the rest of their team was bad enough to allow a lot of bad teams to keep it close and almost beat them. One player can’t beat this Michigan team, as MHJ will tell you.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:52 PM ^
Not that it matters one iota, but does it seem like when SEC teams like Alabama and Georgia are #1, their players basically sweep the individual awards, but when Michigan is #1 and dominating, they get nary a single individual award winner?
Guys like Sainristil, Barrett (whom PFF graded out as their top LB), Loveland, Zinter, etc., get no love.
So, only one thing left to do...win the whole damn thing.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:13 PM ^
We don't rely on any one player...at least not this year.
Last year Corum would've been in NYC and two years ago Aidan was there.
Olu also cleaned up last year.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:28 PM ^
Eh, the last time we were #1, Woodson won the Heisman. And Corum probably would have won it last year if he'd stayed healthy.
Also, Georgia hasn't had a Heisman winner since Herschel Walker in 1982.
December 9th, 2023 at 9:04 AM ^
I have NO problem believing that people have it out for us in certain quarters. But--just to try to keep it the paranoia at sane levels--it may be worth noting that we have won our share of awards in recent times, and down through the years. And as people jokingly observe, we have often gotten our winning done with less-heralded players.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:53 PM ^
Michael Barrett for Heisman this year and every year.
December 8th, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
I want 1-4 to be "hiding". I'm hiding my penix.
December 8th, 2023 at 11:46 PM ^
Is Milroe that good??
December 9th, 2023 at 12:08 AM ^
I think his concept is flawed. He's an athletic QB when in open space, he can definitely hurt you with his legs. That's when he's most dangerous - with his legs, not his arm. But the issue is, Milroe's a self-proclaimed pocket passer and tends to hold onto the ball way longer than he should, hence his sacks allowed. Let's hope he continues this thought process, as our pressure will get to him. I would rather him in the pocket than scrambling.
December 9th, 2023 at 10:57 AM ^
He’s pretty damn good but a step or two down from the finalist QBs.
He’ll go into next year as the favorite.
December 9th, 2023 at 6:22 AM ^
Cody Schrader is an absolute DAWG! Former division two RB that tore up the SEC this year with Missouri. His game reminded me a lot of Corum prior to his knee injury.
December 9th, 2023 at 8:36 AM ^
Cody Schrader had a great year for Mizzou at RB; he totally deserved the recognition. And Ollie Gordon didn't "no show" the title game; Texas has a great defensive line and OSU was down quickly so they would up throwing the ball a lot. Gordon absolutely deserves the Doak Walker and was the best RB this year.
That said, Corum and McCarthy had good years and glad to see them recognized
December 9th, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
Top 4....
4) Kenneth Grant / Kris Jenkins - tied
3) Michael Barrett
2) Roman Wilson
1) Mikey Sainristil
There, I just took all the drama out of the award ceremony now.
Your Welcome...
December 9th, 2023 at 12:16 PM ^
Give the trophy to Sainristil and be done with it.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:46 PM ^
He will never get the stats for a Heisman in UM’s offense. Some of those throws he made were genuinely never-seen-before level throws. Maybe it was luck but he threaded needle after needle. He often threw to a spot 10+ feet to the right and still ended up going right between defenders’ heads. Just absurd stuff.
December 9th, 2023 at 8:23 PM ^
If I was voting I’d give it to Harrison and not even close. Easily the best player in CFB.
