Yeah, this was the same issue I sort of had with Robinson being deemed a "crack" recruiter when he basically convinced a bunch of guys in SEC country to go to Florida.  Obviously good recruiters can get guys from anywhere, but it's always hard to tell how good a guy is at convincing people to come aboard when that school is in the recruit's backyard.

So my skepticism that two Ravens assistants would be coming to Michigan was entirely justified after all. So much for insiders "billowing a shitload of smoke" about Minter's impending hire by Michigan.

Losing a coach to Vandy? Lmao wow. (Albeit for a DC position but still yeesh...)

That kinda tells you what the industry thinks of Harbaugh’s prospects beyond 2021.

We would never think we could poach Vandy's DC to be a position coach at UM... why would we think he would choose the job if he had both options?

Seems like he's highly respected and was due for a promotion. He found a bigger one than we had to offer. This says nothing about Harbaugh...

One interesting trend I'm seeing is, most of these young guys we're targeting have moved around A LOT. Like, no more than 2 years at any given stop. I have a feeling some of this is the by-product of Harbaugh's short leash. They're probably thinking 'Well, if this doesn't work out, I can put Michigan Coach on my resume and move onto the next gig like I always have'.

I also think that's sort of the by-product of young guys moving up the coaching ranks.  In most cases it seems like guys get hired up spots versus jumping around because they're unhappy where they are.  There's really no danger to their careers to go to UM even if it doesn't work out.

I’ll reserve judgment until the staff is finished, but I’m really ready for some good news. This combined with the Worthy situation feels like a dong punch.

That stinks on Minter. I was excited about him. His resume looks better to me than MacDonald’s. I was hopeful we could do co-DC gigs for Minter/MacDonald to seal the deal with them. I thought just a lateral move to DB coach would be tough.

Things are trending the wrong way.
