I agree. Either he is a great guy or he is the biggest bullshitter of them all. Judging that I always say I'm an expert on character and any asshole can make this call easily but he's a pretty good man. Just so glad they beat Bama and OSU. I haven't had a second favorite team since FSU back in the Peter Warrick and Warrick Dunn days but Clemson is my new one. Go Blue and Go...Orange?

here are a couple of Swinney quotes. Form your own opinion.
Swinney was asked about the idea of actually paying players, given the dramatically transformed economic landscape of the game, and he said that if players are ever paid, “I’ll go do something else because there’s enough entitlement in this world as there is.”
When asked about players’ protesting during the anthem, “It’s so easy to say we have a race problem, but we got a sin problem.” He also stated that his players would be in trouble on his team for exercising this kind of dissent.

woah he said what?! /s
I get not liking either quote but forming a concrete opinion that he's not a likeable guy over them? come on.

It's not the same as talking about hating someone on a personal level. I reserve that for Joe Paterno. Posters were seemingly putting Dabo on a pedestal relative to other coaches.
How much else do you really know about him? We've certainly heard enough about dirty recruiting. The vast majority of head coaches have public personas that are at least somewhat likeable. That comes with the job when you're the face of your program, (and to some extent the school) and you're constantly selling yourself to recruits.
The frist quote says something about his character to me. It's one thing to collect millions for coaching unpaid players and to think they are getting enough. But it's hard to defend calling them entitled for wanting more. Then saying he would just go do something else if they got paid. I really wonder what he has in mind.
Taken together, I think those quotes show a lack of empathy for others. Feel free to disagree.

personal issues as a reason he didn't return this year.
EDIT: Sorry, a lot of similar comments rolled in while I was reading/typing.

Surely there is something that leads to to this conclusion other than no reading and possibly a generous helping of alcohol. Do expand on this thought.
The takes are apparently super hot in the world of potential transfers from and to Michigan as well.

Dabo Swinney said he wasn't in trouble. He hinted it was family stuff.

Must be some significant issues to not want to go back to the National Champions / them not wanting him back after being a starter.

Hope personal reasons aren't of the Kyle Bosch variety.

the 2018 line isn't our worry
T - Filiaga
G - Onwenu
C - Ruiz
G/T - Bredeson
G/T - pick from all the other players like
Stueber
Hall
Honigford
Ekiyor
Runyan
Ulizio
etc.

Not a worry but I'll take a guy who has already proven he can play over a flier 3 star recruit that we'd probably fill out our roster with.
January 12th, 2017 at 9:22 PM ^
This guy currently has more experience than that entire list of names combined. Maybe I'll be less worried about our lines in 2018 after I see them this season. I sure hope so.

so if taking him, it is for 2018 and 19 (and 20?)

have that much reason to be confident in our 2018 OL. Not yet anyway. He will not be eligible in 2020.

-TigerNet has learned that Clemson offensive tackle Jake Fruhmorgen will transfer.
Fruhmorgen met with the Clemson coaches Thursday and told them of his decision.
...
Swinney went into the playoffs saying he was hopeful Fruhmorgen would be with the team next spring.
There's no word yet on where Fruhmorgen will wind up, but early possibilities seem to be Florida or Michigan.

Sounds like they wanted him back but he did not want to come back.

Take him. The transfer is the equivalent to signing another 4 or 5 star OL this year.
