CJ Stroud is apparently "injured" and will only play in an "emergency capacity" on Saturday, per Ryan Day

“Going into this game, we’ve asked C.J. to probably take these last couple of days off and rest that shoulder,” Day said Thursday on his radio show. “Kyle and Jack have done a good job, and so the plan right now is to probably, we’ll see how today goes, but probably use C.J. in somewhat of an emergency capacity on Saturday and play some of those other guys.”

So is he injured or is he "injured"?

their talent level hasn't gone down so it shouldn't matter.

they have always (like bama) brought in exttemely talented classes and have made it work.

maybe their chemistry isn't working like it used to, maybe the kids they have are a bit more selfish and are working more on their social media accounts and aren't practicing as hard.

who knows but I hope they don't get it figured out and the boys can finally get that monkey off their backs.

The QB still has to perform well, as does the talent. Stroud has been slightly above average, and he’s not as accurate as Fields nor as dynamic a runner as the last five OSU QBs. Their offensive and defensive lines have not yet jelled—so we can hope they do not.

I watch their games and their talent superiority was the only way they beat Tulsa. Big Ten should give them a few more challenges, including UM.

Actually It has. At least defensively. Their highest rated defensive recruits have not performed well, with the highest being Zack Harrison. They have also recruited a strange amount of safeties and LB's in the last 2 classes. They haven't recruited any elite projects on the back end. The kid they got from Muskegon is their nickle db, and he wasn't rated that high.

This is why I want Meyer to succeed at Jacksonville. Well, like Jimmy Johnson did at the Dolphins--good enough to get in the playoffs but not good enough to be a serious Super Bowl threat.

That keeps him out of college football until he retires. I hope.

(Although I wouldn't mind seeing a return at Ohio State like John Robinson had. Robinson had some great years at USC in the late seventies and early eighties (shared a title with Alabama and came within a tie to Stanford of doing it again), was a decent coach in the NFL in the eighties and early nineties and returned to USC in 1993. The second time around, though, he never did better than 9-2-1 and went 0-for-UCLA.)

It's September so it's still Spring for Michigan football. Winter is right on schedule for November.

I refuse to become optimistic. And on a human level, hope the kid heals up well.

It's very clear he's being benched. The OSU fanbase has been calling for him to be benched for weeks despite him not really being the biggest issue. If he was actually injured, they would just say he's out this week with a shoulder injury and is week to week. The fact that he's injured, but also available for emergencies makes me doubt his "injury"

k. if you say so. but when is it EVER worse for them. it isnt. they beat us with their 1st 2nd and 3rd string QBs. haskins comes in.. boom. TD. troy smith hurt? f it. NEXT. Cardale f'ing jones.

Until i see cause and effect i refuse to believe that anything they do isnt 1000% calculated, purposeful and going to work out brilliantly. Maybe muddying the waters paves the way for Ewers to start on Day 1 and Stroud transfers. Maybe this lets them try out the other QBs to see if they look less "deer in headlights" than stroud.

Either way.......................................................................................... can we please F'ING WIN? With 2 decades of anger, angst, depression, ..i dont care who they have. Can we let it all out and just go apeshit on them?

I noticed Stroud doing the arms circles w left arm while clutching his chest late in the Minnesota game. Was doing it against Oregon as well and I figured that's his non throwing shoulder so guess he can play through it. It also gave me hope that the backup isn't even close if they're letting him play hurt this early in the year. He's good but if hes not All American good, gives us a chance to keep them under 50.

Not so fast.  Living here in Northern Ohio and being a huge Browns fan means I get the twitter feeds of a LOT of OSU reporters.  And the overwhelming consensus among those guys right now is "see, I TOLD you he was injured" as many of them are posting their Twitter receipts on the subject.

Almost all of the OSU beat guys think he really is hurt and has been since about midway in the Oregon game but that he's been trying to play through it (maybe because he's looking at two 5 star QBs on the bench)?  They point to his ball sailing on him a lot in the 2nd half of Oregon and the entire Tulsa game as evidence.
