Chris Simms calls Harbaugh a Jerk in Interview [Today's HARBAUGH thread]

Submitted by TyWheatley6 on January 22nd, 2022 at 5:40 AM

In an interview on the Dan Patrick show, Chris Simms called Harbaugh a jerk and accused him of making up the NFL offers to hype himself up...and if it wasn't enough, he also claims he could take Harbaugh in a fight.  “He’s a scary SOB, and he’s weird, and he’s tough, there’s no doubt. But he’s not taking me now at my age.”    So...I guess some people never grow up.

I'm not here to carry water for Mike Florio, but I put more blame on Phil for raising him to be the arrogant, entitled prick he is. He was an above average college QB, a mediocre pro QB, was too good to pay his dues as a QC coach and parlayed his dad's name into a media gig. So good on you Chris.

With all the talk lately about guys being born on 3rd...

It’s a pretty pathetic interview and honestly Simms comes across like an immature jerk in the interview. His reason for his hatred sounds like a little kid crying he can’t have another piece of candy. Maybe Harbaugh was a bit of a jerk in the interview but I have found there is always three sides to every story, yours mine  and the cold hard truth

I’ll add..Nick Saban is just as hostile towards the media, but all these reporters  bow to him in fear. They feel like they can trash Harbaugh because he struggled to beat Ohio State. All the while cheering for one of the biggest scum bags in coaching, Urban Meyer, who manipulated everyone for his own personal gain.

I have a senior partner who tries to explain away every success of Tom Brady as him being serviceable but always buoyed by coaching or exceptional players around him. Because of his older status, I previously would gently disagree - but now I just laugh and say things like, “It’s hard to explain away 10 super bowl appearances”, or, “He’s 44 and having another MVP season”. Resentment of Michigan’s excellence is endemic.

Steelers fan?  If it is I'm not surprised.  I know a steelers fan who used to argue with a ton of people that Tom Brady is a system QB and nothing more.  He's not even that good.  I called him out saying the only reason he hates Brady is because he surpassed his golden (domer) boy Montana.  He's also a Notre Dame fan.  Needless to say, we don't speak anymore

It’s all of it.  I always hear, you only like Brady because he went to Michigan.  And?

most of the hate is how successful he is.  Hate because he went to Michigan, hate because he kicks their favorite teams ass.  Hate for being better than Manning, Brees, Montana, Marino, Rogers, Favre, whom ever their dude is, Brady is better.

System qb, every offense is a system.  Duh, only Brady has operated several different offenses or systems…. Been successful in all of them!

My favorite reply to osu fans hating is Brady has more playoff wins than osu qb’ have wins period!

One of the really impressive things about Brady is how his continued success just systematically has quashed every possible negative criticism of his career. He has won for so long and in so many different ways and now for two franchises and coaches (and Arians has not, to date, demonstrated himself to be HOF material) that basically everything people have tried to neg him with has evaporated.

Maybe this charmin soft attitude from Chris Simms is why he choked so hard every single time the Longhorns could win a championship. They lost by 2 in the big 12 title game after Simms had 4 turnovers in the first half, got booed off the field and sat out the second half with a “finger injury”

my money is on harbaugh.  age and craziness (and squats!) will overcome youth and timidity 100x/100.

EDIT:  and he had this real 'zinger' as to why he doesn't like harbaugh:

"Oh, he was such a jerk. One of my first interviews I ever had with Bleacher Report, he stopped the interview after my third question because I asked him about Colin Kaepernick’s contract situation. And he took off his mic and said, ‘I’m done with this and tell your dad I said hi,’ and that was it. So, from that point on, I root for Ohio State always and against Jim Harbaugh. Screw him."

i mean 'tell your dad i said hi' is obviously code words for 'i hate you like you're a buckeye'.  very understandable on simms' part.  and if harbuagh had said, 'good to see you, take care', those are code words for 'lets fight right now you wussie!'.  yep.  simms is definitely a guy i'm listening closely to from here on out.  very astute. very sensitive....

the butt hurt runs deep.  so expect everything from this douche to be slanted against JH and Michigan. I’m sure coach stated beforehand that he wouldn’t speak about an ongoing contract situation, just like 100% of coaches should not do.  why else ask that question unless trying to trap someone into a bad spot.

i didn’t even know he was part of sports media?  back he goes into nowhere, he’s as relevant as Rusty Hilger at this point.

edit:  i didn’t know Hilger had died a couple years ago at 57.  He was my go to example of a do nothing piece of Lions QB history.  RIP Rusty, sorry you had to be a Lion for part of your career.

So hold up...

He was sitting in the same room as Harbaugh. At the same table..just a couple of feet away...right there in ass whuppin distance and NOW he's talking smack?

What did he have to ask his dad for permission or is this just hollow woofing?

He's softer than Charmin..of course he's a buckeye fan.
